Not sure what kind of analogy/metaphor is that but sure Volume mixer and speaker properties are the same levels. I don't have a dedicated sound card, just the one that's integrated into the motherboard.

So title basically, if I go any higher than 2 and 4 it's too loud. I even have to lower the audio inside games and youtube. I've had this problem since I built my pc (more than a year ago), any idea why?

There might be software that you can download but I don't know any If you want to know where your mouse or another mouse DPI smoothing starts, you can google search "(name of mouse) dpi smoothing" or "(name of mouse) sensor type" and then "(name of sensor) dpi smoothing" -
