    found another contributor!! nvidia programs! it turns out geforce experience and rtx voice / nvidia broadcast were causing my gpu to run at full force. if i have noise removal effect enabled on nvidia broadcast it'l run my gpu at max clock speed. the second i disable it, i go down to 210mhz. my gpu and cpu both idle at 31c. the way the lord intended. finally.

    It probably downgrades it to HDMI 1.4b, fine if it's not HDR/UHD. HDMI 1.4b uses the older DRM, which HDMI clone/distribution devices use by handshaking the first monitor and copying it to the others. This is also how you get the Xbox 360/Xbox One, PS3/PS4, Wii/WiiU/Switch and Mac/iPad/iPhone to output a signal that can be captured by a capture card. The Mac usually runs in a HDCP mode on-always, where as Windows only turns it on when video is played, and will just show nothing on the screen if the monitor doesn't support it, and if you clone a HDMI monitor to another HDMI monitor in software on the computer, the non-HDCP compliant device (eg graphics tablets and such) will just refuse to play at all, and you have to actually unplug it and reboot before Windows will allow the HDMI HDCP again.

    The EDID passthru is basically what the older models of hdmi 1.4 cloners do, except it's in a stand alone device.

    Yep, just one directly in the GPU (source), then your cable to the splitter (sink) would plug into that. They usually are labeled, but they always plug directly into the source. It can be very useful to help complete the handshake between stubborn devices.

    Nvidia most likely changed how the handshake works. While not a fix to the driver issue, one of these EDID passthrough emulators may help deal Nvidia's driver wonkiness. I had a similar issue on a Radeon card, and this was a moderately cheap workaround.

    How would a cpu bottleneck cause my gpu to run hot?

    f2bacon got a reaction from BlackManINC in No BSOD, my computer just freezes.
    I checked my event viewer logs, and it would (and still does) randomly have these random "warnings"
    The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
    {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54}
     and APPID
    {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}

    I assume those will be different for other people.
    So following forum instructions on those issues, I went into regedit, and found all the entries that were giving me warnings, and what you do for each one is right click the folder
    (another for-example, Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54}  )  and go to permissions, advanced, where it says "owner: TrustedInstaller" click change. In the bottom text field type in your windows username. Hit OK on all the windows, and go through all the CLSID and APPID errors until you've done that on all the ones that pop up and my computer hasn't frozen since. It's been about a week without any issues nonstop running

    Tell me whare you get stuck exactly. Do you have a good psu? For a moment the pi 4 might draw a lot of power. Use your tv, that might help.

    They should be apart with one empty slot inbetween them.. The MB book will tell you which 2 slots to use with 2 modules.

    Looking up your board from what i can tell from other posts, they should be in slots labelled 1 and 2 with the RAM slot numbering from left to right being 4-2-3-1

    An SSD will defenitly help alot, as for your ram, check if its running in dual channel or single channel, and once you verify that, go into the bios and check the frequency there, maybe it never got set up to its advertised speed , like most current DDR4 rams, even 3200 Mhz ones will usually run at 2133 MHz right out of the box, and you need to not really overclock it, but ust set it to its correct speed, i dont know what's your workload like, but if its an old program, 16gb is probably enough, if its possible to send a screenshot of task manager when the system is in full swing we can check if you are being bottelnecked by your ram capacity or no

    sounds like a hard drive issue, ask your boss (or the IT department, if applicable) to consider replacing the hard drive with an SSD, if you get a samsung SSD they come with a piece of software that make the cloning operation child's play.

    The frightening one for me is win7.  Unless you have the business microsoft security update system I personally wouldn’t let that thing ANYWHERE NEAR the internet.  If it’s got ddr4 it’s got sata, so upgrading to an SSD should be no problem, and for GPU you could probably get an Nvidia 1650 in there without issue.
    Memory speed doesn’t matter as much as having enough memory, though why it’s running at 1066 is a serious question.

    I would also say that the ONLY thing that should be run on that computer is that one program.

    UPDATE: it occurs to me that the 1066 number could be “pre doubled” DDR stands for “double data rate” so that 1066 could actually be 2132

    If you checked with something like CPU-z, it will show the base frequencey, but with DDR memory you have to multiply by 2. 1066x2=2132MHz so it's running fine as intended.

    The amount of RAM sticks don't determine the channel type.
    4 sticks can still only run in dual channel mode.

    Quad-channel is only for Threaripper and Intel HEDT/Xeons. Normal consumer chips (Ryzen, i3/5/7/9) are all just dual-channel.

    CPUz tells you what your ram is really running at, while advertised speeds are really doubled of what they are running at because double data rate
    eg, DDR3 1600MHz = 800mhz real clockspeed
    your ram is running at 2133MHz for some reason, that is correct. in some systems, the RAM underclocks to save on power, try to see if the clockspeed is the same while doing something intensive
    if it is, then you've got your ram set to 2133MHz. Your ram may be rated for 3000MHz, but it's not going to run at that unless you set it to 3000MHz via XMP I believe

    Looks like the QX2 is completely different, and reviews seem to indicate that they're Gaterons. So they should be good.
    The keycaps are garbage though, being laser etched ABS. Way worse than the double shot keycaps on the K552-R.
