  1. It seems it would be as easy as that, but you have to get the passwords from the guy first.
  2. It doesn’t. It’s a full size rack mounted one
  3. It’s a small local company. The owner and one employee are the only ones that do anything IT related. I dk for sure but I doubt the have offsite backups of our stuff. We had a computer get a virus from email recently and they asked us if we had any extra hard drives so they could replace the drive in that computer. This guy seriously isn’t the brightest. He got us set up with a 6 drive server that’s only 200GB with 4 virtual drives. I’m not sure what RAID but I’m guessing probably RAID 1. All these nonsense small things I know about makes it very obvious this guy is very incompetent
  4. Common sense tells me once the transition starts all network passwords would need to be changed so his company doesn’t know them
  5. I’m not so sure this guys is smart enough to build himself a back door. Lol. He only takes on very small clients. I’m pretty sure we’re his largest and the reason his company even exists. And we have less than 50 computers in 4 different buildings on the same property.
  6. Basically just our company network and whatnot. They used to host our website but dont any more. All they’ve essentially done is install the server/network devices, configured the computer and are now just collecting checks on essentially desktop support. Every now and then the occasional remote reboot of the network when there’s an issue
  7. I forgot to mention that. This companies contract is up and they never renewed or submitted a new one. They’re currently just billing for tickets submitted for random nonsense and “maintenance” they’re not doing.
  8. My place of employment is looking to switch IT companies. They’re worried about what this guy can do to our network when he’s essentially fired. If he does do something malicious can they take to legal action? Also, who owns (if anyone) the domain name to the network? I’ve read mixed things. Some things I’ve found says the IT company maintaining it owns it but not if the DN is the name of the company, which ours is. Any advice on making this transition as smooth as possible would be appreciated
