  1. Yeah the hardware is mostly supported except the 1060, it's an hassle in general installing nvidia drivers even on real macs

So my MacBook Pro is updating to Windows 1903.…

like microsoft knows how to create a good looking UI anyway, they fragmented everything I can't find the legacy microphone settings for my usb sound card which let me enable AGC, the new audio settings in the metro panel doesn't show this option anymore
  3. I think just using a linux live with gparted is the only way

So my MacBook Pro is updating to Windows 1903.…

It took 15 minutes to figure out all the favourites icons I was missing

So my MacBook Pro is updating to Windows 1903.…

The first 1903 update made the start menu search annoyingly different. The second made it worse by cancelling all the icons I put on it.
  6. Ubuntu LTS is the best compromise to stability and productivity, installing updated drivers is easy with the repos, and here the software generally IS NOT old, it's tested before getting back into the LTS release Unless there is some severe missing driver, where the only solution is to install an updated distro
  7. Apparently my windows 10 start menu got broken again after the latest update. (A security update lol)
    Nice.

  8. are you trying to compile the kernel image or rather the initramfs?
  9. They run the same, the only limiting factor on Windows 10 are the automatic updates which will kill every hard disk even on 7
  10. Group criteria? On a fresh install? I literally just installed the iso from the microsoft website, why do I need to do that?
  11. I fresh installed in a VM windows 10 again, but it looks like it's still missing? I got the Education version
  12. If settings are lost during reboot, you can try to force-save them with "sudo alsactl store"
  13. So, my M.2 slot is right behind my GPU (wow, nice job MSI), so it has very very poor cooling and also takes heat from the GPU (RX 580) Is there anything that I can do with it? I bought an heatsink from china (the one with the thermal pad, the copper heatsink and two rubber bands) but temperatures under an ssd benchmark are still going over 78c° Now, honestly, I don't remember how it was before, but is it better leaving this SSD without an heatsink so air can circulate better? My case is also literally full of fans, my GPU is cooler than this SSD and my CPU, this is a bit insane...
  14. After I try to search something in the start menu, instead of the menu window to be on the left, seems to be shifted slightly to the right. I don't know if that's a bug or what? As you can see, it begins right after the windows icon. Isn't it supposed to be pinned to the left?
  15. That just means game developers just need to ship their own updated OpenAL library, so this barely changes something at all
  16. it's not required for it to boot correctly, just in case of recovering or reinstalling your system without an USB drive, MSR isn't needed either (but I won't delete it unless necessary)
  17. The performance gain for compiling it by yourself is true only when specific flags are used (march=ivybridge for example) which makes the binary compatible only with your specific CPU series, so far by default the only distribution to do that is Gentoo Linux. The performance gain is just by the 2% In general, the Linux vs Windows benchmark except games always give Linux a small advantage not very noticeable at all, as for disk space, linux distros have a big advantage
  18. I found it a bit faster on page loads (not only youtube) and in linux distros is the only way to get widevine without digging further, but I still use firefox as my main browser for other reasons
  19. Gallium Nine on Linux works surprisingly good, basically the same performance on DirectX 9 games on Windows, instead of using an OpenGL translation layer, the Mesa drivers have basically full directx9 support natively in their drivers
