Don't worry so much about this virus. Everyone is worrying bc it is currently top shelf of media coverage (i.e. making money). It really isn't that dangerous. If you are really really young/old or immunocompromised, than assess your threat in your particular geographic location and act accordingly. Everyone else, relax, even if you did get it, you'd recover and go on with life. Just bc it is on the news, doesn't make it important...

Great tutorials about Ryzen 3000 series overlocking CPU as well as DDR4 memory. I wish the memory overclocking video was longer, or if there was a blog post with more details, some of those screens pass by fairly quickly. So you are ok with basic chips like the ageing Realtek 892 on the Tomahawk and similar boards? It actually just struck me that I can use my Focusrite Scarlett USB audio interface as a sound card, which would be an improvement. It seems the Realtek 8111H LAN should be fine until I upgrade to 10GB card someday, probably several years in the future. Thanks again for helping everyone to focus more on the VRMs and I/O as everything else can be solved with additional hardware, but those two things are fixed (well sure, you could get a pci-e card for more USB ports, but who wants to do that?)

I just saw these replies.. I need to turn on notifications. You're right Mick Naughty. I should have been more descriptive. Old thread now, but what I meant is that since I am running 120Mhz on 3440x1440 .. I end up GPU bound, so I experience similar FPS regardless of CPU on most titles, esp the older ones I play. If I were 1080p it would be another discussion. That said, I am going to try an R5 3600 with a MSI Tomahawk max soon, just bc I have an itch to build and it won't break the bank.

Hi Jurrunio, your posts here have been excellent. Factual and clear. Thank you. I have decided to forgo the MSI B450 carbon or x570 with fan to get the Tomahawk Max and a pci-e (or usb) sound card. Do you have a favourite model? Many of the Creative and Asus I found on search appear to be very old models. Amazon has some sort of 20% off coupon going today, so I am ready to get one. This thread is a year old, but still relevant. I have an i7-4770k at 4.5mhz that runs basically the same on my old 750ti and 2070 Super for csgo at 120hz 3440x1440 monitor. I have tested the same cards with an i7-8700k and get similar results. As everyone knows by now, with high GPU requirements, the CPU is not so important. I won't be upgrading CPU until the Ryzen 4000 series!
