MegaTechPC got a reaction from Rambo in 4930K vs 8700K Upgrage Opinion
I know this is an old thread but here's my opinion despite the fact that you probably already pulled the trigger by now.  I too have an OC'd 4930K (4.6 GHz) with 16 GB of DDR3 2133 MHz and I have still to this day failed to find a reason to upgrade my platform/CPU.  My 4930K simply still does everything I need it to do and more, and I have suffered no significant performance issues that would cause me to want to spend the money to upgrade to a new platform.  Now let me say that I am still currently rocking a pair of OG Titans (pretty similar to your original 780Ti's but free of memory limitations) and I'm using a couple of 27" Korean IPS 1440p monitors so I realize that CPU bottlenecking should not be an issue in the first place given my personal setup, but I really feel that a 1080 would not massively cause CPU bottlenecks on this 4930K either given its robust 4.6 GHz OC (though I could totally be wrong about that, in my own testing I have confirmed that these SLI Titans at my OC of 1300 MHz are still mostly faster than a single 1080 in most all of the situations where I'm not suffering from SLI-scaling issues or lack of support).  In fact I feel that the move up from 2133 MHz DDR3 to 3000+MHz DDR4 would probably net more significant gains than simply the switch from 4930K to 8700K.

All that said, there is no question that a similarly clocked 8700K is definitely much more powerful than a 4930K which is obvious.  My point is that I've always felt that you should never feel a need to upgrade a system until there is an important task (be it gaming, editing, etc) in which your current system simply doesn't provide satisfactory performance.  As I said, that is still not the case with my setup, so I have not been compelled to consider an upgrade yet, even though I understand that the newest hardware is certainly faster.

MegaTechPC got a reaction from leo1798 in Tablet Recommendations?
Easy answer is the new 2018 base iPad which is a little more money than you want to spend (around $320) but is vastly superior to any other tablet you can get for anything like that kind of money.  Seriously, the iPad is so much better than any Android tablet its not even funny.  And I say that as a hardcore Android fan (with phones anyway).  Just my opinion though, not trying to pass it off as fact or anything...

MegaTechPC got a reaction from Darkseth in Is the regular 9.7 iPad a good mid-long term investment?
I'm PC and Android all the way myself, but with one very big exception:  Tablets!  I have two iPads (and original Air and a Pro 9.7) and IMO the iPad is the ONLY tablet worth buying.  As much as I love Android on my phone, Android for tablets is a mess.  Plus, the iPad is just so much better looking and feeling than any Android tablet I've ever used, which mostly tend to be built (and sold) cheaply.  Luckily for you, this new iPad's "killer app" is its low price, allowing you to get a very powerful and still premium looking/feeling iPad for relatively little money.  The only thing about the budget iPad for me is the non-laminated glass screen.  I love how the screen looks on my Pro 9.7 but my older Air has the gap below the screen which just looks annoying when comparing them side by side.  The Pro 10.5 also has the awesome 120Hz refresh rate so I'd probably consider splurging for that over the budget iPad, but if you simply can't spend more than $300 or so then the basic iPad is a really good buy.

MegaTechPC got a reaction from Notional in nVidia GeForce Partner Program: Well Intention Marketing or Anti-Competitive
You seem to be under the erroneous belief that ONLY flagship cards and GPUs count.  As far as I can tell, AMD has strong competition for Nvidia at every single product stack below the 1080Ti/Titan.  The RX580 is absolutely competitive with the 1060 and the Vega 56 is competitive with the 1070 and so on and so on.  Current pricing of all cards is all out of whack due to the stupid mining craze, but if you look at actual MSRP, Nvidia has strong competition from AMD at nearly every price point below the very top end.

Some of you guys are still missing the point of why this is such a scummy action by Nvidia.  Its not that you (in particular) don't care about branding or "names on a box" etc.  We are informed PC enthusiasts so obviously I expect that most of the people in LTT forums are not necessarily swayed by branding alone when making purchasing decisions.  The problem is that Nvidia is hijacking all of the most popular AIB gaming sub-brands (sub-brands whose popularity they were not alone in establishing) so that Joe Blow, the average PC noob who just buys whatever ROG hardware because "its the best", will now be buying GeForce-only cards going forward, without even necessarily realizing it.  Its pathetic and I honestly don't understand why a single person here would actually be applauding such behavior, as the ultimate victim in all of this is consumer choice...

MegaTechPC got a reaction from Mihle in nVidia GeForce Partner Program: Well Intention Marketing or Anti-Competitive
That's fine if Nvidia wants to control how its cards are marketed by Asus (for example) when talking about the creation of a new sub-brand.  What is not OK is for Nvidia to use the leverage of their current position in the market to force Asus to make ROG an Nvidia-only sub brand when it was never Nvidia alone that helped to develop the popularity and reputation of ROG over the last decade.  This is simple stuff.

Oh and by the way, arguing that AMD ostensibly "deserves" to suffer from inherently anti-competitive Nvidia policy because their cards aren't as fast as Nvidia's right now is a really terrible argument that supports monopolistic behavior.  Those of us who aren't Nvidia fanboys actually want competition in the GPU sector and AMD is really the only company out there that can challenge an Nvidia monopoly in discreet graphics.

Wait, my Note 8 still has a headphone jack but that in no way prohibits me from using any BT wireless headphones with the phone as you described above.  The problem with people who are arguing for the jack's removal is that it doesn't actually benefit anybody, but it absolutely disadvantages some people.  In this case at least, you certainly can have your cake and eat it too...

Oh I see, so you are strictly talking about these stupid dongles certain manufacturers are forcing their consumers to use to replace the headphone jack?  Well in that case I certainly agree, though since I have all Samsung phones currently, I haven't had to worry about that!

I would say that it is curious that Apple, who is spearheading this apparent war on the 3.5 mm headphone jack, still provides that very same jack in nearly all of their other products (including both of my iPads).  I mean, either the headphone jack is universally "evil" and "crappy" or it isn't.  Remember Occam's Razor; the removal of the jack on the iPhone was strictly a ploy to sell a lot of their shiny new Airpods, full stop.

I love how Samsung is basically giving the entire industry the middle finger and saying "Screw you guys, we are sticking with the dang headphone jack dammit!" instead of just blindly following whatever Apple does.  I've just never understood the argument that removing the jack is just so that people will develop and buy better wireless headphones because the inclusion of the jack does not in any way preclude you from using BT headphones, nor companies continuing to develop newer and better iterations of them.

But then again maybe I'm just one of those old fogy types since I still include an optical drive in all of my builds...

MegaTechPC got a reaction from MultiDJRoni in Why are the Google Icons so ugly on s9
Yeah definitely find an icon pack you prefer.  I use "Smoke and Glass" in Nova Launcher on my Note 8 and I love it.  But of course they are very stylized icons that probably wouldn't be your cup of tea but there are literally an endless number of icon packs available so surely you would find something to your liking?  Great part about Android is customizing everything to look just how YOU want it to look.  I think even the stock Samsung theme packs allow for different icons?

MegaTechPC got a reaction from Phantonex in Why do people like Apple products?
At the end of the day I LOVE competition and choice.  I have my preferences like anybody else, but I enjoy the fact that there are so many options out there to suit anybody's desires!  I mean, I prefer Android phones but hate Android tablets, so I have a Note 8 and a couple of iPads.  I thoroughly enjoy both company's products.  I'm also personally a Windows guy, but I've always adored the design and quality of iMacs and would love to get one someday as a secondary PC just to play around with MacOS and enjoy a different experience.  There's no need to swear off any brand if they offer a quality product that you like.

I wish Linus and Luke all the success in the world with FP and I really do applaud the idea of trying to offer another option to Youtube, but I also agree with the above poster about all these pay-walled content delivery services.  Its gotten to a point where if you were to commit to every platform you'd be looking at multiple hundreds of dollars a month because it all really does add up.  Sure, they suck you in with the idea that "Its only $10-20 per month", but when you're talking about subscribing to 10 or more of these services the costs become untenable.

Hey, I'll never hate on someone for having a different point of view than me.  If YT no longer serves your needs I can't blame you for no longer patronizing the platform.  Its nice that FP is coming along at just the right time for you (and others I'm sure).

I used to do that all the time back in the day with my DBZ collection!  Here's an oldie I did way back in 2003:

This was how I originally learned how to use Adobe Premiere and I always thought it was fun finding ways of syncing the onscreen action to the music in creative ways.  Btw, please forgive the video quality.  I was using a capture card on my Pentium 3 back then that was finicky to say the least (plus my PC could only handle low-res files in editing and renders took hours).  We really have come a long way in 15 years...

I know its super trendy right now to hate on everything Youtube does (and there is merit to some of the criticism for sure) but I think the beauty of Youtube is sometimes taken for granted nowadays.  I guess I just remember what it was like pre-Youtube, back when I had website for my band and was trying to get our music and live shows out there for public consumption.  Even image-hosting was a huge ordeal (remember Imageshack???) and I started up the band Youtube channel right near the launch of the platform.  It was almost magical to me that I could upload full videos to the net for free and hope that random people around the world might actually be able to see and hear our music.

Even now Youtube is an amazing platform for people to create and share literally unlimited ideas (well, within reason) around the world.  People are so worried about monetization and trying to make a buck that they have forgotten all about the incredible freedom and opportunities offered by Youtube beyond monetization.

I've always watched a good bit of Youtube but have found that recently I am watching far more Youtube than I ever have before and I'm not really sure why that is.  I've just lately found a LOT of content creators that I love and find myself watching more YT than anything else.  Its funny because my X1 cable box has its own YT app so now when I'm on the couch watching TV its almost ALL Youtube anymore!

Here's some of my favorite creators that I've spoilered so you don't have to be subjected to my list:
Suffice it to say that there is so much content on Youtube that I can't imagine ever getting tired of watching it.  If one of your subs doesn't upload content fast enough there are always about a million other channels you can watch in the mean time.  That's my two cents anyway.

I'd watch Scrap Yard Wars regardless of what the gimmick for the show was.  A mining theme would be fine with me as long as its still the same concept as previous iterations of the show.  The problem is that they'd probably not be able to find any parts right now.
