  1. Pretty much the title, my laptop just stays warm all the time, I have it usually around 50, 60 cpu degrees even on idle. My 2020 m1 tho doesn't touch 40 even with heavy load.
Even when I tried to blow the fans at max for 15 min, no apps, no charging, no nothing, it still would not get lower than 39 degrees max. Why is this laptop getting so hot when my worse laptop sits good doing much more.

Like someone said, you could try cleaning out any dust, or even just running the fans at Max for a while as that might also clear out some dust by itself.  Mine is going to be low as I don't use it much so it wont have much dust buildup.

Overall I don't think its a problem unless some temperature is obscenely high or its causing performance problems.

I'm trying to blow the fans to max, but it doesn't get under 42 degrees.. Could the cpu have an issue?

How idle?  Mine is idling 40C with the fans off, but I have very little software installed on it.  Could you have something running background services?

Under load the M1 chips will run up to around 95C.  They seem to work a lot like Ryzen 7000, they are left to run as fast as possible only thermal throttling.  You increase the fan speed, they still run hot but throttle less.

Like not oppening any software other than what I have set on startup.
Could be the app I use the measure the temperature? What I should use?

M1 Pro has 4 more performance cores though, so 2 more cores overall and 4 more performance cores than the M1, so it will run much hotter from the get go, graphic also runs MUCH faster producing more heat too, as @Alex Atkin UK said above, youll just need to run fans slightly faster

Also runs DDR5 RAM which runs a bit hotter than DDR4, so another cause of heat in the case

Oh, I see, so this comparation doesn't work. DO you have any idea how hot this model should run normally on idle and what are his limits?

If this is Pro vs a normal M1 then of course it will, its more powerful so generates more heat.

Apples fan profile is set to be as quiet as possible at the cost of letting the case reach the maximum legal limits for human exposure.  This is why many of us install TG Pro and override their profile to run the fans faster.

Yes, but it gets much higher temps on idle even. I know the other one has 4 efficency cores and this one just two if that makes a difference.
On idle it happens to get about 60 degrees with it on idle and in that time the other one runs spline 3d, plays a yt video and is connected to a 4k monitor and still has around 38-40 degrees.

    Is usage higher?

    Any background programmes?

Could be badly pasted or bad contact with cooler/heatpipes?

Is it the more used computer?

Any pets? Fans could be clogged

It is used a lot more, yes. It was my daily driver for about one year now and I use it between 10 - 16 hours daily.
I use arc, creative cloud is in the background too, skype, slack.
I daily use photoshop, illustrator, figma, AE and I have it connected to an external 4k monitor using usb c

  7. So pretty much the title. I have a 2021 M1 Pro 16 GB macbook, lately it seems to run hot for no good reason. It even starts to use the fans. I used two apps to check the temps and it runs at about 60-70 celsius. I attached an external monitor with 4k and told myself that could be it, but I tried to verify if it's a laptop issue using my older 2020 m1 8gb macbook pro. It stays at 30-40 degrees with the monitor on, yt video in the backround spline 3d app, everything..
What is going on, what I should do? I use this laptop more, but still, such difference, the 2021 model runs at 60 degrees even on idle.. I don't understand!

  8. So I have an okaysh pc with the following specs
    - Ryzen 7 2700x CPU

    - RTX 3070

    - 24GB RAM at 3200Mhz - Forgot the brand name

    - 1TV Samsuns SSD 870 QVO

My pc lags all the time even tho there is not much to see in the task manager, it just does..
I don't know what to do.

Yes, the motherboard is correct, but the 2700X does not support resizable bar. Ryzen 3000/5000/7000 series supports it though. So you'll need a new CPU if you want resizable bar.

As I said in my original post, it's not worthwhile for resizable bar on Nvidia GPUs as it marginally improves performance.

    This is what I mean
    (2) Ryzen 7 2700x Resizable Bar Enabled with NVIDIA GPU : Amd (reddit.com)

  10. I have a MSI RTX 3070 OC GPU, MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, Ryzen 2700X (Aparenty it should be ok in this configuration)

I updated the bios, updated everything, activated rebar and the crypto thing, the partition is gbt, everything in GPU-Z is enabled for Resizable Bar except Rebar enabled in bios, but which is in reality. Nothing works... What I could do?

  11. A friend bought a gaming laptop these days and has some issues regarding his FPS in games.

Dota 2 for example, he's getting max 120 fps
His laptop is an ASUS ROG Zephyrus S15 GX502LWS so it uses an RTX 2070 Super, the screen has 300mhz so it should not run like this. For example, we saw that this game should get almost double the fps on ultra,
We tried to force the gaming gpu to be used on Nvidia Control Panel and from Windows, no change. The laptop runs on High Performance, cable is connected. The same. The only thing that we cannot do is enabling XMP ( we did not find it in Bios). UserBenchmark says that the Ram is not running at max speed.

Any idea what could be done?

  12. So months ago my ex put her foot through my pc case and bend the gpu. I tried to bend it back after I opened it and also change the thermal compound. The thing is that I don't play stresful games usually. Titanfall 2 and sometimes Division 2 worked great, but after I tried horizon zero down and my god, the fps drops were so constant. I want to buy RDR2 but I don't know if the GPU will work good enough for it. It's an 1070 TI.

How could I test my gpu to see if it still works as it should?

  13. So I have a Ryzen system. Till recently because I didn't have a lot of money I was running just the two fans that came with the motherboard and I didn't activate gamemode on the bios. Also I usually didn't use the case's cover because I realised the case would got pretty hot when playing games, even simple games as CSGO. The truth is that I don't know much about more modern Cpu's like this one. Now I aquired a three fan package with a controller and two fan speed modes and I choose to use the cover and activate that Gamemode from the bios to give the cpu more power.

The problem is that now when I run cinebench or render in Premiere Pro, the PC shuts. Is it a problem using the bios gamemode with the stock cpu cooler, is my case not propertly ventilated even with 5 fans? Are these fans such trash? I didn't put the cooler in the correct way on the motherboard?

On idle the CPU temperatured are somewhere between 41~55
