I bought two of the TL-SH1005 and 1 of the TL-SH1008 to test, and the TL-SH1005 overheats quite easily, so I am going to try and mod it and add some additional heatsink and see if anything improves. I have tested several of the 2.5Gbe unmanaged switches and most of them have a heat issue, but none will actually degrade the performance except the TP-Link TL-SH1005. I picked them up on taobao and used a forwarding clearing house to ship them to the US, was way cheaper than buying from Aliexpress

@AppleRepairLady If your son is planning on participating in any of the 4 official tournaments (Rocket League, Rainbow 6 Siege, Overwatch, and League of Legends), then I would suggest making sure the PC he games on will meet and exceed the minimum system requirements for these games, and preferably at the recommended specs . Otherwise, just make sure whichever game he has in his collection he will be playing at the event will be supported by the PC he can bring.
