  1. I think it's a Windows thing since they own a butt ton of the market share when it comes to OSes. The OS allows for extra software to be installed with it, and most manufacturers like to install McAffee, Buttplug Plus and other garbage. Thats one of the very few good things about Macs. They don't let advertisers into their software experience.
  2. I actually think I got a T3500, I use it as a file server mostly. I got that bad boy to work with 6 TB of Enterprise HDDs, and 8 gigs of RAM.

my computer has bricked itself. again. why can'…

I would suggest just switching over to Linux and running your Windows apps in a VM if you really need Windows the stuff you do. Theres a guy I watch who literally does that because of this reason. When a Windows installation breaks, it's easy to basically delete it and clone it. Same with a Mac OS X one as well if you are really looking for one.
  4. Nice! From my experience with Thinkpads, it's been pretty hit or miss with them. My 2012 one was a powerful little laptop even though it only had an i5 (or maybe an i3, I forgot), but my IT laptop with an i7 took forever to start windows or simply turn on. You probably dodged a bullet with those things.
  5. I thought I'd ask this, since my old job was getting rid of a ton of servers, desktops, hard drives, and switches that were perfectly fine. Luckily I was able to a lot of it since my boss literally couldn't care less where they went so my coworker and I were able to nab some of the stuff we wanted. I just want to know what kind of stuff people have thrown out that works completely fine once either fixed up a little, or just powered on. if any one is interested here is a list of stuff a was able to get: A few network switches Around 15 or so desktops (I sold a ton of them for gas and bills) 3 Servers 8 or so iPods (which I traded in for an Xbox) 7 or so laptops (I mainly sold them, I kept a few old ones for my collection, and I use a couple for daily drivers) 30 Raspberry pis (Half of them need to be fixed tho) 2 UPS stations
  6. I think pretty much any one of full versions would work, you just need to make it compatible with your system. I've heard of people getting Mac OS X to work with AMD processors, but it's a huge pain in the butt since, well, Mac OS X only supports Intel CPU's natively. I don't work with AMD based machines often, so I would probably be stumped, but there is a forum out there called https://amd-osx.com/ , and they work just with AMD based systems. I suggest trying them out and seeing if you can get some help from them.
  7. It really depends on who you ask. My mom got a Macbook when I was a kid because she was tired of how fast her computers died from Windows updates. I got my iMac partly because of the update thing, and because I program for systems that have a Unix/Linuxish kind of filesystem, and Mac OS has that. My brother wants to get a Macbook when he's older, because it's fairly easy for him to use, and he doesn't want to have to deal with Windows being a butthole with updates since he isn't going to use it all the time.
  8. Yeah, I actually didn't think about that tbh. I'm probably going to wait anyway, since every first batch of consoles usually die really early on and I don't want to have to deal with a broken Xbox.
  9. Just tried the other day. The guy I talked to was not sure about when they were going to come in either.
  10. Yeah, i really don’t want to buy from them, but if the world ends I may have to. Thanks for the comment!
  11. Yeah I know it sounds kinda dumb, but I’m wanting to get a Series S for my boyfriend since he’s thinking about getting more into gaming. I just don’t know when it will be manufactured enough for it to basically not be worth scalping. I heard that the ps5 will be available soon, but I haven’t heard much about the Xbox. I’m willing to wait since I’m not about to give one of those greesy lards a handy, but I have no clue if it would be worth trying to get one since Xmas is literally slapping me in the face and they are still snatching them up.
  12. I wish I could but I have no way of accessing the bios. I tried using a monitor with it but it wouldn't display anything.
  13. So I have had this HP380 G7 lying around for a while and I've been looking into getting it working again. When I tried to power it up its fans started doing their whole thing and then I got a long beep and the 18 RAM slots all appeared as amber. I looked up online the configuration is supposed to be RAM going into the white slots (I assume) and from what I can tell there are 6 of those in the server while the rest are all black colored. I only have 6 ECC RAM sticks on me at the moment though. Would I need to get a 6th one to get it to boot or is there a different issue?
  14. Its a custom one. Like an xfinity or Comcast one. The port management is on my isps website tho.
  15. Yeah I checked on my data connection on my phone and it still showed up. I'll check it out some more there tho.
  16. Yeah I tried that I also tried it just plain. And managed to get it to load a took too long to respond message.
  17. Sorry if it sounds dumb, but I am running a server and have forwarded the ports for the server to allow it to be accessed, but the Management UI for router just shows up. I got it directly from my ISP (cox) and they apparently love their UI so much that it's accessible from the web. I've been trying to turn it off but haven't had much luck. Anyone have an idea?
  18. It's not an HDD though. I actually ripped my SSD from a computer that was barely used so it should still be relatively new. Ah! That makes sense. Maybe I should Zip my files before moving them then next time. Thanks for that input. I have an SSD though. Samsung 870 Evo infact. Yeah, it's in that same partition and drive. I am kinda tempted to leave Windows, I just need to get a 1 TB SSD before I do that though.
  19. So lately I've noticed that my computer is wanting to take its time moving files from one folder into another. It stays at the time remaining box for a good minute and then decides that it wants to move the file. It's super annoying since I'm working on mods, and they require texture files for its items, so you can kinda tell how annoying it can get.
  20. I would think that putting that on the laptop wouldn't a bad idea. My last netbook has Ubuntu on it, and from what I can see, it works fine. I just looked up how heavy it is on resources, and it looks like Pop OS is actually recommened for your laptop. I'd say try it.
