  1. This is probably a dumb way to put it, but it's the most direct way I can think to get a feel about this from you guys. Would you guys rather play on a 1080p 24'' TN with 100fps or in a 1440p 27'' IPS 40-60 fps (no-gsync)? The focus is on gaming experience. Again, I don't care about the edge that you can get with a TN panel on competetive games.
  2. The thing I would like to know is if the gaming experience is so much better at 1440p IPS 60fps (medium-high settings) when compared to 1080p TN 100fps (ultra settings) that could justify spending more on the long run. And let’s forget about the competitive edge you get in games like CS:GO when gaming at 144hz monitor, I don’t care about that.
  3. I'm planning a build for the end of this year, one of my doubts is the resolution I should aim for. My budget is around 1500$ (monitor included) and since I can’t afford spending money on constant upgrades, the idea is to have some longevity. Currently I’m aiming for a GTX 1070 with a 1080p 144hz monitor. Even though a 1070 seems overkill for that resolution, it should provide nice framerates for the next couple of years. I will use the computer also for programming and I think I would appreciate a 1440p IPS panel (color reproduction and large workspace), because even though I play some games like CS:GO I don´t do it in a competitive way. But I think I would have to spend more on a nice 1440p monitor and would be difficult to maintain +60fps on some games in the future. What do you guys thins about GTX1070 with 1080p 144hz monitor for that budget?
  4. The 1070 SLI would be in the future when the card started to display fewer FPS for more demanding games, probably I could buy a used/cheaper 1070 and still keep good framerates.
  5. The motherboard difference is because for the 1080p build I don't need SLI support, since even if i go with the 1060 it doesn't support SLI. So probably I can save a few bucks there. Regarding the CPU, probably the 6600k is worth the extra cost, I can agree with that. @Quaker you don't recommend the 1070 for 1440p?
  6. Asus GeForce GTX1060 Turbo 6GB - 294€ (325$) MSI GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING X - 359€ (398$) The cheaper RX480 I can get is about 289€ (320$)
  7. The RX480 is around 300€ (332$) in Portugal, but yeah a RX480 with a freesync monitor like AOC G2460PF (around 250$ in Portugal) could be a good option. The 750W PSU is to leave room for a GTX 1070 SLI update in the future.
  8. I'm planning on building my first custom build PC by the end of this year (I have been gamming on a laptop for years). Although money isn't much (I have been waiting for more than a year to build this PC) I would like to build a good machine to be able to have a good gaming experience with a budget from 1500$ to 2000$. The purpose of this build is to game, do some programming and casual browsing. Also I would like to play some games to my TV using something like Steam Link. My main doubt is to build for a 1080p resolution or a 1440p (single display on both) and I need to purchase a monitor. I have this two builds (the build prices are actually in euros from Portugal retailers): For 1080p: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/tyJYHN For 1440p: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/2RLtpb (For the 1440p build I went with a G-Sync display, Although expensive I think in this case may be worth it) Is the extra money on the 1440p worth it? what do you guys think of the builds?
  9. I'm about to buy my first mechanical keyboard. I was thinking about the Ozone Strike Battle because it's one of the few backlit mechanical keyboards with the portuguese layout. Also I like being tenkeyless because the mouse is closer to the other hand. Because I'm a programmer in my editor I use many shortcuts like CTRL+ALT+PLUS or CTRL+SHIFT+PLUS but without the numeric keypad I guess I won't be able to do this. I'm I right? I think probably the best alternative is to have a separate keypad or go full keyboard. Since I never owned a tenkeyless keyboard I just would like to verify if this is correct.
  10. Any advice against this build? Sorry but I'm new to this custom build thing... Just want to make sure I'm not making any noob mistakes.
  11. Hey guys, actually this PC Build got delayed for financial reasons, but now it's on. 12. Congrats for the 1M subs guys. I don’t remember exactly how I found LTT, but since then, I have been watching every single video you guys make. Such a great content by the way. With LTT I have started to get excited with hardware over again. Unfortunately affording a custom build like the ones I would like to do because of watching LTT isn’t an option right now for me (so my wife tells me J ). So the custom build would be great by the way. Thank you guys and keep on going.
  13. Thank you Captain_Slow, the Synology is a good alternative, a litlle more expensive, but yeah the garantee may worth it. Yeah, NAS with a single drive doesn't make much sense for HD failure protection...
  14. Just considering building a NAS for the office. I work in Portugal in a web and mobile development company, with around 15 people, mostly developers and three 2d designers. We need a NAS for storage, 6TB should be enough for now and the near future. I figured out a DIY FreeNas Server is cheaper and reliable option. The budget is no more than 800$. What do you guys think about this build for RAIDZ1 (6TB usable space)?
