    ok so far it does work!!!! but one slight issue it still does the rainbow screen before it loads the login screen then after i login it's black screens for a bit then loads the GUI fine afterwards.

    Probably can't hold charge for some reason, try turning it off and back on a great number of times
     
    I'm not gonna lie, if I had a 2070 and was forced to use a VGA to HDMI adapter I'd be looking at new monitors, which I think you should do. Might not be worth to troubleshoot a display like that

    no it doesn't. Adaptive sync feature only works when refresh rate is higher than frame rate and it drops refresh rate to match frame rate. In other words, it's the opposite approach and solution of Vsync.

    It will probably put more stress on your GPU (assuming your setup is generally hitting your current Vsync limit). So if your card is capable of 90FPS average but you have Vsync locked @ 60FPS on, your card will only be running 2/3 load. If you buy a Freesync monitor which can run up to (let's say) 90FPS, you will be running at much higher loads on your GPU - but you will see higher FPS above 60 as a result.
     
    It all depends what FPS your setup can do and what refresh rate the monitor you buy can do.
