last question to bug you with is this drive cmr, smr or pmr, and how could you tell. I looked at there own data sheets(in screenshot) and maybe im just blind but i don't see anything relating to these types, unless it is the RAID Rebuild capabilities that are tipping you off. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00QFZ9LI6?tag=pcp0f-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1 -
HP Proliant DL360 g7 Max Storage issue
AMp3dStar replied to AMp3dStar's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
sadly it's a little to late to go back but how much of a performance hit is smr drives in raid, as long as it's capable of above 1Gbps i'd be happy -

i thought the drive i sent was 2.5in. also i could live with 10tb in RAID 1 or 20 tb in RAID 0. and then your recommending me get a PMR type drive? -

something around this line https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01LX13P71?tag=pcp0f-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1 Haven't fully decided yet -
I recently bought a used HP Proliant DL360 g7 Server that I plan on upgrading the storage of soon, but then ran into an issue related to the max storage limitations(limits in screenshot). I don't plan on buying SAS drives because they are expensive and i don't need that much performance, just more storage. Therefore I need help figuring out what is causing of this limitation if it is the RAID controller(my guess), what RAID controller should I buy as a replacement that can support 8x2.5+ TB SATA drives. Ok so my laptop which is a VivoBook_ASUSLaptop X570DD_M570DD(currently running POP_OS) has been very uncooperative with Linux, it has been rainbow screening me constantly and not wanting to boot to the desktop interface of other linux distros. But lately I've gotten it to consistently boot and load the desktop environment(just barely) after changing from hybrid graphics to integrated graphics. But it still rainbow screens after I type in my password and start booting the Desktop environment(gnome). So clearly something is still wrong, also if i change any bios setting it starts to get really wonky. After looking around i feel like it could maybe be firmware(pickin at straws here), so i went to update it through POP_OS built in setting firmware updater but it shows "Managed Firmware Unavailable No devices supporting automatic firmware updates detected". Eventually i found out about the terminal method and it's just as useless, it says they are update-able but it has no firmware updates????? PLS HELP!!!!! i have only tried the nvidia driver because i thought it was best for stability and reliability, so what is better about the nouveau driver?
