  1. I have an AORUS PRO WiFi, i7-9700K, a Corsair RM750x, and two sticks of Corsair Vengence LED. When I first built the PC, I put everything together and tried to boot it. When I turned on the PSU, there was a brief flash of the lights on the motherboard, and when I pressed the power button on the front panel the PSU would click twice. The RAM sticks would light up, but the motherboard lights would not, no fans would spin, no status LED's would light. So I sadly disassembled the entire build and started fresh. I installed the CPU and RAM, and then hooked up the PSU to see if it would do anything but the result was the same. I've tried the fan trick with the PSU and the fan spins up, and I've tried all combinations of RAM sticks in all of the available slots, but some combinations cause the PSU to click a few times, sometimes in quick succession. I'm just at a loss, is there anything else I can try or do I just need to order new RAM or take the MoBo to a repair shop to be tested? Thank you for the help
  2. Thank y'all for the help, I decided not to get the extra sticks! I can always pick up some new ones later at 3000 if I find out I need them later
  3. So if the memory speeds don't matter, would the extra sticks be a good add?
  4. Entire build is posted above now, i7-9700K I've never overclocked RAM before- there any harm / benefit in doing so?
  5. So the consensus so far is don't invest in the extra RAM? I've made a few edits to the topic as well for more details
  6. Okay, so I have two sticks of 8GB RAM labeled as 3000MHz, and I've been offered two more sticks of 8GB RAM @ 2666MHz for about 60$. How notable would a speed increase be moving from 16GB @ 3000 to 32GB @ 2666? The primary use of my computer will be programming / coding (Lots of C++) and some heavy gaming as well. Also, this computer hasn't been built yet. Core i7 - 9700K, RTX 2080, etc. Rest of the build below for what it's worth https://pcpartpicker.com/user/epicbluebanana7/saved/bWfKBm Thank you for the help!
  7. You're totally right! I'll have to look into those too- I wish they were as slick as the dark rock though Update: Just discovered you can buy covers to make the cooler look nice
  8. Okay- maybe a change of pace. What can I take off this RAM specifically to make it shorter? I've heard stories about people removing heat spreaders from their RAM sticks to make them shorter. I'm not getting them for their LEDs, I'm getting them for their price after all
  9. Because I'm getting 4 sticks of it from a friend for 100 bucks Someone said later that the fan clips prevent the fan from being moved up more than 4 extra mm Does the dark rock 4 (no pro) remedy any of these issues? I can't really tell if it hangs over the ram slots any from the research I've done
  10. I plan to put the Dark Rock Pro 4 on an AORUS PRO WIFI, with some RAM that I've heard is 49mm tall (Corsair Vengeance LED) but the clearance on the cooler is 40 for the fan. It appears that you can move the fan on the cooler however, could I make it work with my tall RAM? (I'm getting the RAM with a really great deal). My case is a Carbide 275R, and I'm also not sure if the cooler will fit in the case- thank you for your help! https://pcpartpicker.com/product/F3gzK8/be-quiet-dark-rock-pro-4-505-cfm-cpu-cooler-bk022 https://pcpartpicker.com/product/N6gzK8/gigabyte-z390-aorus-pro-wifi-atx-lga1151-motherboard-z390-aorus-pro-wifi https://pcpartpicker.com/product/QjWfrH/corsair-carbide-series-275r-white-wtempered-glass-atx-mid-tower-case-cc-9011133-ww
  11. Heres some good RAM that costs as much as yours, but is 3000MHz https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qLkj4D/geil-evo-spear-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-3000-memory-gsb416gb3000c16adc Like lee said, I'd spend a tad bit less on the case, you can find some that are under 100 dollars that still look good and have everything you need Also, you want a motherboard with a B450 in it, Tomahawk is a good choice from what I've heard For case choices, the NZXT H500 is a popular choice at 75 dollars, I like the Corsair Carbide 275R, but there's a good amount of other cases out there that'd fit your style and your wallet
  12. Would a Z390 Taichi serve as a suitable alternative to an AORUS? The AORUS is just a little too.. orange for me
  13. Simply because I wouldn't have room to add more if I decided I wanted more later
