  1. I cant have it higher. The case wont close. If I were to put the fan in the back will I get worst temperatures?
  2. Agreed, now I know this. What would you do in my shoes though? As I said im not terribly savvy when it comes to builds as my problem clearly shows. Not sure what my best option is.
  3. Was excited to add 2 extra sticks of ram only to realize I cant place the cpu fan properly (dark rock 4 air cooler). Photo of problem: https://imgur.com/a/r09oEHJ Red is the spearation between fan and ram. Blue is the extra height at the top as the result. As you can see the fan grips dont connect at the top. If I were to leave it like this, which I wouldn't, I can't close the case. I have a aorus z390 mobo with a dark rock 4 air cooler inside a h500 case. I feel like I must be missing something or many people just dont have 4 sticks of ram on this setup? I just put this build together 2 weeks ago so hopefully I can return the cooler to bh photo if it comes to it. Should I just return and get another cooler? I see the black rock 4 pro might not have this problem as the fan on top of ram is smaller. What about an AIO? I dont know a lot about this stuff. I have an i7 8700k and would like a mild OC on it.
  4. I know nothing about airflow so I apologize if these are obvious questions. Can the top fan be an intake instead of an exhaust? If yes, what would be the correct way to set up the rest? Regardless of the question 1 being yes or no do I need extra fans other than the ones the case comes with? I want the pc to be as silent as possible so any specific fan brand/models recommendations would be super helpful Thanks for your help!
  5. Woah... No need to get defensive. But ok. Thanks for your input. Edit: I've now corrected the post to show those prices. I had just copied the default from pcpartpicker before.
  6. Because im buying the i7 at microcenter the it is 319 and the mobo is reduced to 159 for buying both components there. Seems like a no brainer.
  7. Im not the most savy when it comes to building pcs but after many days reading I've landed on this build. I want to make sure everything makes sense and plays well together. Any comments or suggestions are more than welcome. FYI the parts that appear as $0 is because I already own them from my current pc. In case it helps, Im close to a microcenter By the way, do I need thermal paste? 8. Thanks for all the info and expert diagram! :)
  9. Thanks for these. This is kind of a bummer... I guess most cases that have a fan at the top are designed to be an exhaust, right?
  10. Im building a new pc and really like the NZXT H500 case. My current pc has HAF 932 case which I like but I have 2 issues with it. I can hear everything that goes on inside and it has an exhaust at the top that creates a breeze under my desk that I hate. Question is, does the H500's fan at the top pull air in or out? Thanks
  11. Thanks for the info. I'll take a look. Here is the one I currently have: MODEL TX650 V2 PART # CMPSU-650TXV2 (or) CMPSU-650TXV2UK
  12. Thanks for you help! You helped me realize I have a microcenter 30 miles away!!! I moved to CA recently and had no clue they had a store here, I'v always dreamed of having a microcenter nearby. I'll be there this weekend 1. After reading your comments I think im going with this ram then: G.Skill - Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 https://pcpartpicker.com/product/FNprxr/gskill-aegis-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-3000-memory-f43000c16d16gisb 2. I think the Z390 AORUS line is great because of the extra usb ports. Since the cheaper one is 160-170 I think I might just take the plunge and go with the PRO Wifi and remove the wifi card from my part list. Does this sound like a good idea? Is it better/worst/same to have wifi integrated into the mobo? Gigabyte - Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI ATX LGA1151 Motherboard https://pcpartpicker.com/product/N6gzK8/gigabyte-z390-aorus-pro-wifi-atx-lga1151-motherboard-z390-aorus-pro-wifi 3. For the PSU, Im curious how you land on the Seasonic Focus Plus. why that one over Corsair or EVGA Supernova. I wish I knew more about this stuff. 4. Im getting the i7 8700k. Not only will I take advanted of it when rednering but now that I now I have a microcenter earby it is a no brainer for $320 Thanks again!
  13. I'm building a new gaming pc and moving over some components from my current pc (5 years old). I could really use the help in terms of recommendations for some components. Bellow you will find a pcpartpicker breakdown of what I have put together after a few days of research as well as some questions. Things I'll be doing with this pc: Gaming / Rendering (3D software) / Unreal Engine Deving I play many AAA games and my latest obsession is The Division 2. I want to be able to max it out since my monitors are just 1080p 60hz. Budget: $1000 (not a hard cap but since Im reusing a few components it seems like a good number) Overclocking: I plan to overclock. Not anything crazy but because I want a 8700k it makes sense (i think) Case preferences: I have a tower but I want a new one just because mine is super loud. Current one is HAF 932. I really like the NZXT H500. This is why I have the NZXT H500 on the list below. I would like this build to be silent. Keep my current cooler? Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM. It has worked perfectly for 5 years and I dont know if these things should be changed after x amount of time or not. 2. From reading some forums and subs I have kind of landed on a Z390 mobo. The problem is there are so many damn models that I dont know if I should go with the best looking one... How do you even choose? I do plan on doing a very light OC, not sure that is relevant. Any help here would be amazing! 3. Ram. I think DDR4 3200 just to futureproof but sometimes I think I should just get 3000. Would I notice the difference? 4. Wireless adapter. This is only valid if the mobo doesnt have wifi. I've read some very good things about the wifi card in my part list. That is the only reason that is there. Open to suggestions though. 5. Help me pick a PSU. I was considering using my current one (5 years old) because it has always worked great but after some reading Im terrified of putting my new components in risk just to save a few bucks. Thanks for your help!
