this is the idea ebay and other online market places should regulate prices so bots are selling the cards for the price they bought it if you like this idea say yes and if not then say no and tell your reason

The running answer is "Sometime in October" the more realistic answer would be .. The same day that AMD has their Big Navi press conference stock will magically appear. This whole thing has been a paper launch to get demand to the boiling point and just when the competition is set to  reveal a card with close to, the same or better performance stock will appear and take the wind out of their sales.

    Knight77 got a reaction from jones177 in 4K @ 144hz got some questions?
No doubt has worked out well for you, PC setups don’t normally have that kind of space to wall mount 55”.

Being so close to that is just... headache inducing imo 😅

Maybe for productivity, idk, but for gaming, I wouldn’t say so, it’s like 1440p but of course, the detail level is turned up to insane, I appreciate the extra pixels!

My desk is 73cm high, and my chair wouldn’t drop down lower to accommodate a screen basically sitting there with a small stand, would need to be slightly higher.

I guess I’m someone who 27” is perfect for on a desk but bigger screens, I want really big, so would go 65/77 and tbh, even 77” is looking small again after getting used to it!

    Actually, they don’t.

Samsung don’t buy LG OLED panels.

They will be making their own QD-OLEDs soon.

And they’ve said they want to make 32” to 82” versions with the 32” version actually focusing on being a gaming monitor rather than a TV screen.

I'm sure they were demoing stuff that was designed for 4K. It can absolutely be amazing, but like I said, it's more of a canvas. Most games aren't going to look any different on 1080p compared to 4k because there just aren't any extra details to show.

New games that are designed for a more "cinematic" experience are going to look good at 4K, even if they don't run super well. You need to tailor your build to what kind of games you play.

That's why 1440p is still the sweetspot for gaming as of now. 4K high refresh rate is
    1) hard to achieve
    2) panels are expensive af

That card is built for 1440p and 4k gaming. It would easily get over 240fps in most games maxed out at 1080p

It's supposed to be better than OLED in every way. Also Sony had their own. Also AU Optronics and TCL too, even Apple working on it too. So it's kinda a global research for it as we can know with current info. On Wiki it says over 130 companies are working on R&D for it.

Thank you for taking the time to recommend the LG. I had already been looking into it and I've already watched that review, however I found out that it has atrocious out-of-the-box color calibration and I'm not sure if it's worth it to spend an extra €200 to get a calibration tool just for that. On the other hand, the Aorus isn't much better in that department either. The LG's uncommonly low contrast ratio even for IPS standards is also a considerable minus since any dark content will look washed out.

All things considered, I am now looking at older monitors, such as the ASUS PG279Q, which may not have a 10-bit panel like the three monitors mentioned on this thread so far, but has a much better factory calibration and has native G-sync which will work flawlessly with a 1080 Ti. Having read mixed comments about the "G-sync compatible" thing new monitors like to advertise, it seems it's unreliable and not as effective as native support. Overall, unless LG fixes their factory calibration, I think perhaps waiting to see what new products will come out is the ideal approach.

Where I live the A/C is on most of the times so the power usage of my computers is about equal to a few hot days. My power bills are about the same now as when I ran 486s so I am not unhappy running 2080 tis.

more power always=more heat, ur room will heat up. Anything more than 350w just feels disgusting without AC even if it's cooled properly. An GTX* 480 back in the days was awful lol. This may not be a concern for some people depending how the pc is positioned.

Power bill is also a thing but it's not a priority for most people that pays 1.5-2k for a gpu.

The real concern is the new report that the gddr6x on the back running at 96C on a bench, all it takes is one ram module to fail, think i'll just skip whatever model with ram on the back.

My RTX 2080 ti already uses over 375 watts so power usage of high end 3000 series cards will not be a big leap.

I don't have heat issues now so I don't expect to have it with the new cards but I do use high airflow cases.

rtings.com is pritty much the best display review site currently available, their reviews are matched by other reviewers like tftcentral and blurbusters, but the rtings website itself is the best by far thanks to its search functionality and layout. The fact u havnt heard of it is of little consequence and just goes to show why the display manufacturers have got away with their deceptive 'spec' sheets, and poor quality displays for so long.

If you've only ever known/used LCD i can understand your ignorance on the matter. Thats fine, you cant miss something you've never experienced, if ur fine with IPS and consider it that good then all i can suggest is that u never ever experience a CRT, Plasma, OLED, or other self emmisive display, especially in a dark room.

The 'changes in behavior' u speak of are small things, habits, if ur that against changing of basic habits then im truly sorry for you, being that inflexible cant be easy.

'throw distance'  is irrelevant. There is nothing limiting oneself to their 'throw distance'.
if u dont have room for a large screen and if u cant, or dont feel the quality of a screen is important enough to warrant, reorganizing ur PC workspace to accommodate a larger screen, then so be it, but 'throw distance' really doesnt matter.

I agree, the first two sites I go to are TFTCentral & Rtings.

BlurBusters is excellent too & Displayninja is also a good source of info.

I’m especially excited that the ASUS 360Hz monitor now has an official model number, the PG259QN ! Just means one step closer to release, hopefully in a couple months time.

One of the biggest drawbacks for OLED is also the brightness level.

The TVs only reach around 700-800 Nits.

For true, spectacular HDR, you need a minimum of 1,000 Nits.

That’s why Samsung’s TVs look amazing as they hit 1200-1800 Nits, so when there’s no blacks on screen, the HDR is in full effect.

Or else you miss out the true highlights.

Don’t get me wrong, the HDR is really good, I love my OLED and I can’t complain overall BUT, the HDR can be better.

    You mentioned the other drawbacks,

    Size, both ways,

48 is too big for a monitor once you’ve settled on / been using 27” for over 15 years.

77” is now too small for my new house / room, and I like the cinema effect / feel of a large screen, I know 8K TVs are pretty useless atm BUT they’re the ones coming in big sizes, 80-120”, so in a few years time, I’m sure they’ll come down in price and when they’re around $5,000-$7,500, I think I’ll go for one to upgrade the 77” CX.

    Finally, you touched on MicroLED.

I think for now, when it’s out in 5-10 years time, it will be endgame tech, because it has everything:

-Instant Response Time / Per Pixel Control
-So High Hz 1,000+ is possible
-Brightness: can hit really high peak brightness -No Burn in
    -No Image Retention
    -Infinite Contrast
-Multiple sizes: wearables all the way up to TVs

    For now:

-OLED C9 / CX - the best image quality, cinematic experience, if you’re happy with the size & limit of 120Hz (most people the 120Hz won’t be an issue, will be the size & cost).

-TN (2nd Gen) - much improved, the Lenovo Y27gq is the only TN monitor I would buy (owned one) - it’s a fantastic 1440p 240Hz and for me, better than what I saw from the Samsung VA’s.

-Future IPS: these are probably what you can call “Ultimate Monitors” right now.

There are 4K 144Hz HDR 1,000 and soon HDR 1600 I believe with the ASUS PG27UQX.

    There’s going to be 1440p 240Hz.

And my next purchase which is 1080p 360Hz Fast IPS, around November time.

    So you’re covered in all 3 Hz areas, 144, 240 & 360Hz.

So you decide Resolution & that’s your ultimate monitor.
