usb 3 isn't pci based so it wont work at all.
you need a thunderbolt connection, m sata / m.2 connection (which means opening up the pc so that's a no go) or one of those old express card ports found on business and engineer laptops so that is unlikely aswell. doable but stupid cause you would have to buy an new old laptop. if you want an egpu you would also need a new laptop which if you dont want a completely new one like a razer blade stealth or alienware or whatever has a thunderbolt 3 connection on it then you would have to buy an old macbook pro with thunderbolt 2 on it or something like a.. hp 8560w laptop where that kit you want to use would work without taking the bottom of the laptop off.

BUILD COMPLETE
It took a lot of brain power to turn this case which isn't normally for water cooling into something magnificent but the build quality of it is very good so I was able to do a lot of customization of it (much of which was inside to leave the outside looking clean).  I thoroughly enjoyed building this computer for the previous reasons and because....overkill dual loops is clearly a fun way to go.

I've managed to get 4.7Ghz @ 1.32v. I'm happy with that. Unfortunately my Raid 0 array got messed up in my over clocking endeavours (had to reset cmos) so now I'm reinstalling windows and my programs/games  This is the second time this has happened to me on various builds. I don't think I'm gonna bother with Raid 0 any more. 
Yeah the rad is currently on the shelf below my computer. I moved it shortly after posting that pic; looks much cleaner there. As for the wires, I'm going to be cleaning those up at some point haha they do look horrible  Thanks a lot man!

quick update, cables and coolant came in.

Not at the moment fella no. I just did all of my shuffling for this year (sold my final Titan Black out of three, sold a Fury X and a 760 Mars) so I am set now for at least another year. Cleaning the rig is a real pain, it has to be taken down and all of the rads removed (I've just literally done it). So these days I just like using it without any fuss. That was why I got rid of the Fury X, because it kept running short of VRAM in modern games and the reality of that sucks really hard. Basically a game would either freeze for about 30 seconds then stutter along at about 2 FPS before finally righting itself after a couple of minutes, or the rig would simply beep and reboot.
 
As soon as I lowered all of the settings in Tomb Raider for example it stopped doing it. BLOPS III? no extra settings for you unless you have 6gb VRAM. Hitman was struggling too (had to lower the shadows to low) and so on and so forth. I didn't expect to still have issues when I dropped to 1440p but I guess I was wrong.
 
That's why I have been so quiet really. Not been gaming much (though I am now, Doom with nightmare settings FTW) and just keeping myself to myself
 
I gotta say though, this Titan X is tits. No more issues at all, just whack everything to max and game away without problems. I really hate being on the green team but if AMD can't sort their issues out then I have no other choice. I would say that the Fury X was one of the worst products I've ever bought for a PC. The drivers were awful, Crossfire? HAHAHAHAHA what's that again? and even one card does not have enough VRAM. "Here, have the fastest VRAM on the planet but only have 4gb of it !".

More updates!  I noticed that the tinting on the legs didn't really come through in the earlier pics so I grabbed a better pic.  And, well, it still doesn't stand out, but I guess that's the point of fading it in, right?  The tips are obviously black, and the section next to the body is orange.  It came out sort of mottled from the gun, but I liked it so I kept it.

Got the back armor put on except that last red piece is supposed to be a black piece.  I put it on to see if it would look ok, but I think it needs to be redone.  It just doesn't work with the black body section.


This is me stealing some mod blocks out of my shop rig.  Performance PC's was out but I had some I could nick and not hurt the structure.  It needed to be cleaned anyways. 

Those blocks let me put the nose piece and head armor on.

And, oh yeah, got the res mounted up.  The lines to it are a little loop-y.  I've ordered a couple of extra 90's to tighten up those runs.  

Monsoon's MMRS comes with a pair of CCFL bulbs for backlighting, but I totally forgot to figure in inverters.  I don't have any or an easy spot to tie into my 12v light run.

So they're out and I needed to figure out something else.  I've been thinking about thicker walled reservoirs that would allow you to punch mounting holes for LED's and not kill the tube, but this res is way too thin.  And there are Primochill light towers and light plugs, which I have a few, but I didn't want a wire running from the top of the res.  But the other day I did see, I guess, an 'exclusive' light ring from Alphacool, which was basically a LED strip inside a round plastic housing, and that looked pretty cool.  And it's just a LED strip wrapped around the res, how hard could that be.  Turns out, not hard at all.

They used a much denser packed LED strip, but this strip's spacing turned out to be perfect for the coupler to also be the clamp that holds the strip in a loop and be the exact size to fit over the res.  On a side note, I'm glad I ordered an extra res tube for running clear coolant because pulling the other one off the case would have been a pain.
And tossing some power to it.

Here is my finished product.  I wrapped the outside of the strip with electrical tape and painted the connector black.  I'll also be covering most of the connector with heatshrink so it won't really stand out.

For the redneck engineering that went into it, I think it came out awesome.  

I'll have to write up a little how-to because this is a great way to light a res.  And I will give Alphacool or whoever total credit, I didn't come up with the idea, but I did make it for about a $1.  Plus anything with a bezel on it wouldn't have worked on the MMRS anyways because of the tension bars.
After getting that done I threw in some Mayhems Blitz to clean everything up especially since I have old blocks in there.  Don't want anything growing or blocking up the system.

And she's pumping away in the workshop now, pulling all the old dye residue out.

So compact, neat, well organized, planned and so carefully done. Although 3 pumps are little overkill (2 would be fine) I love the way you structured them.

Yeah the pressure's really going to ramp up over the next few days.  Have a tonne of traditional modding work to get done and really not enough time to do it in.

I tend to use a 10mm channel width or so, although it's not a huge deal going a bit bigger or smaller there as flow is more dictated by the fittings and blocks.

After extensively fixing up seals with fittings and the pump, it all worked perfectly!  I also received the last shipment of fittings too, albeit after I'd done the leak testing.
 

 

 

 

 

 
 

It doesn't really split the connection. It's not like 10/10 is assigned to one AP and the other 10/10 to the other one. The distributing will change, depending on the usage at the time. If QoS is setup, you can prioritise certain types of traffic. 
 
Having multiple routers on a network can cause issues, or at least be somewhat of a pain for home networks. Just having access points around the place to get good wifi coverage is the best option. You may just have to negotiate some rules for usage with your room-mate. What they are is up to you (and your room-mate), but I'd expect something like no downloading large files while the other is doing something that requires a decent amount of bandwidth. 

If you really wanted to, you could get two lines in and just have one each so you both get 20/20 to yourself. It would obviously cost more, though. 

If you're really wanting to split the network 50/50 and don't have any need for fast local transfers (over Wifi), you could get a switch that allows you to modify the speeds of the ports, then each have an access point connected to ports limited to 10Mbps so you're both limited to 10Mbps. This also allows for you to have your PC connected at full speed if your room-mate is okay with it. 

The issue you have with multiple routers is that you can't simply go modem > switch > 2x routers without a line in that has multiple WAN IP addresses. If you have a home connection, you don't have this capability. You'd have to go modem > router > router/switch. Then you have an issue of potential DHCP, NAT, DNS and routing conflicts as both routers tend to compete. Port forwarding also gets buggy and complicated with this setup. 

Having one router, then different access points with different SSIDs could separate the network a little, but the network is still being shared, you're just connecting to different wireless hotspots. 
 
What I meant by having access points around the place is just to have access points (require a cable to be run, just so you know) in places where you need Wifi coverage. Then you will have to negotiate with your room-mate for the rules of use.
 
It really depends if you want a network restriction to split the network, or just a logical way so you each can manage your own parts, but still have to negotiate about usage. The network restrictions work to forcefully limit you and your room-mate so you can't hog the bandwidth, but it also means that you're limited to 10/10, even if your room-mate is out. There are some ways to actually manage the use of networks and assign bandwidth allowances based on time and devices, but it can get expensive and complicated, often involving managed switches and a new expensive router, or one that can run DD-WRT.

Today i started working on the Pedestal. I cut out the acrylic parts, rounded the edges and then bended the bigger acrylic part.
Next step is to cut off the rest and put all parts together, then it is almost ready to paint.

I don't see the harm in spraying onto the sheet metal, and probably more exact results as well. 

From what i can tell, the spray painting took place either outside or in a garage on concrete, fumes aren't that much of an issue. Let's compromise however, Should have just used a CNC Router, that'll teach em... 

aight. i love the industrial look of it but it would be cool if it had small windows like this http://easy-to-smoke.dk/840-thickbox_default/joyetech-ego-one-mega-sub-.jpg but it still looks awesome dude.
and yes i know that is a clearomizer for e-cig but it has the window style i think would look cool on it ^^

This has been a long time coming really, just been so busy recently thanks to life and now the Thermaltake UK Trophy.  That said, I've definitely still got time and plans for Aetos.
First order of the day is getting the GPU mounted.  Thankfully AMD provided a mechanical sample, which means I can use it in the workshop without worrying about things like aluminium dust getting in the card etc.  I decided to keep things simple, just a couple strips of aluminium bent in the vice.  I'll be painting these up to look pretty, don't worry.
 
Second is installing the little neodymium magnets into the case sections.  These help hold the front sections together without any screws, the rear parts are then fastened securely.  The sockethead screws are just placeholder (had them to hand), will be using more appropriate ones.
 
The case itself now fits together and is strong.  What's next is to begin the beautification process, i.e sanding, priming, filling and painting.  There's a lot of work to be done there, hopefully it will all go as intended.
