i don't think Apple intended to improve audio quality switching from 3.5mm to lightning. if anything it was to remove space they thought was unnecessary in favor of a larger Taptic engine.

Don't feel comfortable in the new theme?
Well this is a work in progress fix for it!
While the new IP board 4 theme looks good, it's not really user friendly. Most forums that follow modern design have that issue- message boards should be designed like you are making a gui for a complex program, not a website.
What does my fix do? It tries to make this a little better, without hurting the style too much. It's not gonna look perfect, but it will hopefully be more comfortable.
This is a work in progress, but I wanted to get my first fixes out immediately. In the mean time, I encourage you to use it, and make suggestions.
There's a dark theme version, but hte light theme looks better. I'll work on the dark theme more when I've finished adding to this mostly.
Keep in mind that since I'm not making plugins or greasemonkey/tampermonkey scripts (as of yet, I just don't have time ), these are CSS fixes only. CSS has limits on its own, including annoying things like the fact there's  a child selector but no parent selector.
    Change list so far-
-Made it full width on high resolution monitors
(I enjoy responsiveness, but not filling high res screens on a tech forum? shame)
-Added shadows on ui elements to make them pop more
    -Bumped topic replies closer
-Made avatars part of the post, removed rounded edges
    -fixed some of the padding
-added shadow to the nav bar. It had one, but only when scrolling
    -Some button changes
-Made reputation options colorful and larger
I wish I could force this on all users. The main issue with the small and thin buttons is it doens't encourage people to use them in my expierence. THe nice thing about he IP Board 3 big fat blue button was people actually used it, verses some forums with a  small rep link
-Made page headers look like the rest of the content (work in progress)
    -Limited size of embedded videos
a problem that grew out of hand with widescreen fix (Will apply reponsive fixes as well in future )
    To come-
    A lot of stuff

To everyone saying that there must be a way to gain access to private information if the investigator/police/whoever has a warrant, think of the implications.
The ONLY way for such a system to work is if there is a backdoor in the encryption. Having a backdoor in encryption is a terrible idea because it fundamentally makes the system insecure. If Apple has access to it then it also means that there is the possibility that someone that is not Apple also has access to it. A third party such as a hacker could gain access to the same backdoor as Apple uses either by finding it for him/herself, or by someone at Apple leaking it.
So that's the first thing that's wrong with wanting a backdoor. It makes the entire system untrustworthy.

The other problem is the one @Decon talked about. If you have a backdoor and use it in for example the US to fight crimes, then you also need to allow other countries to use the same backdoor to fight "crimes" in their countries. In India it is punishable by imprisonment to be homosexual. That means that if Apple has to comply with someone in the US investigating a murder, Apple must also comply with someone in India investigating someone who is suspected for being gay. The prosecutor in India would be allowed to gain access to all the info on the phone. Does that sound like a good idea? I don't think so. There are countries where it is punishable by death as well. So a prosecutor could gain access to a homosexual's phone, find a bunch of messages and web history with gay content, and then have that person killed for it.

And before you say that Apple should not help those countries, sorry but Apple is selling products in more countries than the US and therefore has to follow the laws in those countries. There is also the problem that our idea of what is right and wrong differs from other peoples' ideas, and there is not really any way of proving that either side is right/wrong.
There sadly is no possible way to create a middle ground.

Apple is doing the right thing.

Argent reacted to LinusTech in deceptive reviews and shoddy advertisement practices being cracked down on in youtube re Machinima/xbox 1
This video was sponsored by AMD. My wording of "challenged by AMD" indicated that AMD issued us a challenge to build a 4K gaming PC using their components with a given retail price target, but it didn't affect our representation of the results of the challenge.

AND I'd like to point out this also WASN'T a review.

We built a computer (build log) and benchmarked it. The money affected our decision to create the video in the first place, but not the results. We made it very clear to AMD that if the gaming experienced sucked donkey balls they were going to have to live with us saying "we built this thing and the gaming experience sucked donkey balls"

As for the rest of the components, we picked whatever we wanted. If we happened to have something we wanted lying around we threw it in, and if we didn't we fired an email over to our press contact for the appropriate hardware vendor and they sent it over.
How does anyone who has watched our videos for any kind of extended period of time not know this??

For everyone's reference.. Tech influencers and reviewers usually aren't paying for hardware unless they feel like it (Not that I haven't defended plenty of negative reviews, but I bought my Pono Player just so I wouldn't have to deal with the bitchy email from a PR rep, for example) or can't get access to a sample or something (we bought our iMac 27in Retina for this reason). It's news to me that this wasn't already crystal clear. How do you think we get early access to this stuff??
That's why so much noise is getting made about [H] and Tech Report not receiving a Fury Nano from AMD right now. BECAUSE NORMALLY THEY WOULD!

I don't know why anyone thinks these people would be paying for hardware.. Does anyone assume a film reviewer buy a ticket to an early screening?? Does anyone assume a food critic pays for the meal? Are they expected to purge it afterward and give it back?

So bottom line is this: We ALWAYS appreciate constructive criticism here at Linus Media Group - especially when it underlines an issue we weren't aware of - and now that we've collectively gotten past some of the early accusations that we're on the take and it's affecting our product recommendations, we'll look into how we can revise our best practices in the future to avoid any of the confusion I didn't know existed.. but in the meantime here's the bottom line:

I haven't bought a graphics card for my personal rig (I have bought many others for other projects) since the ATI X850 Pro, which died a couple times and through Future Shop's extended warranty was eventually replaced with a GTX 260 iirc, and I haven't bought a CPU since I picked up an open box Q6600 around the time that launched from my boss on the cheap. That should give you some idea how often I pay for tech stuff for my own use, and this REALLY shouldn't surprise anyone who realizes that NBA athletes aren't paying for their shoes..

I can basically snap my fingers and conjure pretty  much any consumer-grade computer hardware on the planet. This is across the board, mind you.. so it doesn't create any kind of loyalty to a particular brand unless they make the fastest/most reliable hardware - in which case that's not loyalty.. that's evaluating the available options and choosing the best one (my job)..

TLDR: if I didn't say I paid for it, then assume I didn't. If I didn't say I'm sending it back, then assume I'm not.

With this rule there will be many cases where I *DID* pay for it, or I *DID* have to send it back and you'll have assumed the opposite, but frankly it doesn't matter. It wouldn't have affected the content either way, and I'd rather err on the side of caution.

Great... I wasn't expecting it to understand Swedish but I really hope it's not like in the Windows 10 insider build where I can't even use it for anything (can't even type in commands in English).

The lack of control over updates on the non-Pro/enterprise versions is just flat out idiotic as well. Luckily I will get the Pro version but why the hell did they change this? In what way is this good? Can someone please give me one example of how this is good for the users (and remember that automatic installation of update is already on by default).

Just a heads up, the picture used for Witcher 2 in this comparison is NOT taken at the default low settings.  I just checked in game myself and to get that sort of quality it needs to be set to High.  Consoles might be bad, but we shouldn't make unfair comparisons.
