You likely don't need software at all actually. As someone who still regularly use physical media, all but one of my PCs in the house have 5.25" bays that are occupied (only my son's PC does not).  Floppy drives still work as well in every OS Ive used recently.

As for your oddware device, not sure about that one, as not sure what it is. However a owner of a NewQ platinum which is a similar type device, and plays radio, no software was needed. Audio cables go straight to the rear of the PC. My PC audio went into it, and the speakers also went to that panel.

As someone who uses Linux as their primary OS, and has for a very long time, I'm still of the opinion, gaming is the wrong use case for Linux. Everything else, yes I'd prefer to do in Linux.

Your hardware won't be an issue. For me hardware support has honestly been better than Windows. Heck I'm sitting next to a brand new HP laser printer that only works in Linux for some reason.  I'm typing this from a 13900k / 4090 machine right now running Linux.

I'm not saying Linux can't game, many games will run on your Linux. However you'll come across games you have to tinker with to get running. You'll come across games that just plain don't work at all in Linux. If you want to run Linux for other reasons that's great. However if you want to game, I'd dual boot and still use Windows for gaming. Trying to only run Linux and expecting it to be your gaming machine is setting yourself up for frustration.

Yeah. I actually painted the garage a while back while my Jeep was at the painters. He was supposed to have it for a week. At week 3, I decided to move everything to the center of the garage and paint the walls. As soon as I moved everything, he called and said it was done. I told he'd have to wait a couple more days. Luckily he's done a bunch of things for me.

Spent last night finally putting the kick start kit into the super moto. Can't believe Suzuki doesn't have torque specs for most of their fasteners. I know Yamaha shop manual has a torque spec for nearly everything. Much of this manual just says tighten securely.

Hit one snag, and it's fair enough as DRZ's didn't come with O2 sensors factory. Unfortunately manufacturers don't list O2 sensor lengths either. After much scrolling, I think I've found a shorter O2 sensor. I ordered. I'll find out Wednesday if it's actually shorter. I don't need much, just a little clearance. I'd prefer not to have to move the exhaust bung.

A Sony STR-DH190 stereo receiver was my last recent tech purchase.

After owning it personally since about 2005, and being originally manufactured in 1986, my ADCOM stereo preamp finally had a problem cleaning the potentiometers and re-seating components couldn’t fix. This made me a bit sad because it is really difficult to find new (affordable) equipment with a phono stage these days, but an extremely budget-friendly Sony option exists.

It doesn’t offer all the options my ADCOM did, but works with the common type of turntable cartridges, and has the added benefit of remote control, and Bluetooth pairing for my music library on my phone; All the options.

Specs claim it has 100w continuous per channel even at an 8ohm load, potent enough for the small room I’m in, and more than enough to drive the Paradigm Titan V4 speakers I use. I don’t know if my old preamp had degraded some even before the problems, but the clarity is admirable for something this value-conscious.

For $149 US it was hard to beat. Not sure if anyone will buy my old power amp, but I gave the ADCOM to someone that works on stereos to see if they can fix it, and if so can sell it.

I paid entirely too much for one of these: A BNIB Microsoft Pro IntelliMouse in Shadow Black. I wanted to get both the Pro and standard versions when they were still in production and I'm paying the price for not doing so.

Very early impressions are good, all things considered. I absolutely love the smaller ambi style of the G203 and GPW, however for being a bigger ergo mouse meant for righties the Pro IntelliMouse is very comfy. And the software is... Surprisingly good. So far only complaint is that the left/right clicks are very snappy and a bit on the loud side, and I guess my universal hatred for braided cables on mice.

I have my 2-channel system sorted in my room, but I have a home theater setup in the living room that needs a CD player, so off to eBay I went.

Picked-up an older Philips CDC-935 5-disc changer for a song, even has coaxial digital out so I can use the DAC in my receiver. This will mostly be to have something playing while I cook, so not a real critical music experience, but being able to queue-up a few hours of CDs is nice. Seller says it’s tested and working.

It is a somewhat risky purchase because it’s being shipped, but eBay offered a 2-year warranty for $5, so it’s covered. Less than $50 shipped with warranty, which is cheaper than a thrift store around here and that has basically no guarantee.

Guess that depends on how large of a GPU you intend to run.  I know I pass my hardware down to my other PCs when I upgrade, so it was important that my HTPCs could use ATX boards. I'm currently using a Silverstone GD09 for them. One of them has a RTX 2080 in it no problems.

You might take a look at Silverstones site they have several smaller cases.

What keyboard is it? If you are expecting to make some sort of a profit, I'll probably go ahead and burst your bubble now.  Especially by the time you put key caps on it, you most likely won't be able to flip it and make any money on it.  That being said, if you want to use it, likely not a bad deal. Good find.

I've donated a few mechanical keyboards recently to good causes as selling them is hassle, and they aren't worth much. (Its never the right switches, key caps, brand. etc).

My Significant Other said that I wasn't allowed to have a PC in the living room. I wanted to snap at her and tell her how dumb that sounded considering all the crazy things she tells me she wanted. Regardless, I held my tongue and started to think why this would be the case. She isn't a PC Nerd like You or me. in fact, the only computers she's seen are Office Depot, HP and Dell computers. Which, I agree has no business being in the living room. And also my crazy, massive, loud, flashing, expensive, heavy gaming computer. Well. . . I mean.. As cool as it would be for that to be in the living room. It is understandable. So I responded and told her. "But babe, I would build it in such a way to where you wouldn't have any idea there was even a computer in the room." While I was satisfied with my response, She had other thoughts as it seemed she doubted my abilities. Her response was petty, cocky, and confident that I couldn't do it. Knowing my skills that I have acquired over a decade of building specialized computers, I humbly accepted the challenge and simply said. "Challenge Accepted". I spent the better part of 4 months sifting listings and searching for the perfect case and parts list and I can assure you that I had done it. I set it up in a way to where I had my laptop "plugged into" my TV. When in reality the HTPC was plugged in. I had the same backgrounds and played like I was gonna do something, but I forgot and unplugged and moved my laptop into the other room. Completely lost and very puzzled as to what was happening she asked. "Umm. . You don't use your laptop anymore?" I briefly glanced over and quickly said "Nope." This is when, possibly the single greatest moment in my life occurred when she asked. "Well, where's the computer?" Ladies and Gentlemen, At this moment. I had won. So much so that I was able to build a second one for the Bedroom without question. Here is my Wife Approved Setups (Plural). I also collect these cases as hobby. I wanna see your "Wife Approved" Setups or Even HTPC Machines.

Specs for the Fat one. (Gertrude):
-Antec Fusion 430 V2 Silver PC Case
    -Intel i7 4790k (Overclocked to 4.4Ghz)
    -Z87 Asus Gryphon Motherboard
    -16Gb of DDR3 1866Mhz RAM
    -Noctua NH-C14S CPU Cooler
    -RTX 2060 Super FE
    -EVGA 750Watt PSU
    -500Gb SSD
    -2Tb 7200RPM HDD

Specs for the Thin One. (Penelope):
-Antec Fusion Micro 350 Silver PC Case
    -Intel i7 4790k
    -Z97 Asus Gryphon Motherboard
    -32Gb of DDR3 1600Mhz RAM
    -Noctua NH-L12S CPU Cooler
    -Gigabyte GTX 1650 LP
    -Antec 350Watt PSU
    -500Gb SSD
    -2Tb 7200RPM HDD

Both of these Cases have iMON Integrated Media Control Center Screens. These offer the use of iMEDIAN HD Which comes with a remote (that I dont have 😢) and unlock proper Media Functions. They both work flawlessly, especially since the software hasn't been updated since 2011.

I hope you enjoy my Addiction!

Actually I wouldn't use G Hub other than for configuration. Store settings on your mouse.  This will ensure if the program crashes or if you take the mouse to another PC or another OS it always is setup the same. It will also eliminate a software issue.  Not to mention you don't need unnecessary software running on your PC.

Why not just use a PC (I have one hooked to my TV in the living room)?  Pretty much all those devices or emulation is definitely not legal, especially if you don't even own the games.

That aside, I'll say I use emulation a fair amount as it's easier (and I have a large physical collection of games and consoles). That being said you'll still come across games that still work better on the original hardware. The example I typically give people is PunchOut on the NES. It's just not frame perfect on emulation, and it makes a difference.

For emulation I use USB controllers (not all I have but many of them):

However there are some games that have specialty controllers where they are just better with those controllers, which makes it better on original hardware. (Games that use Atari paddle controllers for example).

Just a thought, as the PC might be more useful than a bunch of individual retro consoles that are just emulation boxes anyways.

Along with third party resellers who resell the same packages for slightly cheaper in exchange for less support.
