marioo1182 got a reaction from J.b091 in What do people hate about Apple?
1. Not true. The hardware that is made with from Apple is specially designed. Even take a look at fan design, I would bet it would almost be superior to Noctua if they had a laptop fan.
2. Actually, all the software that comes with OSX is exclusive to it. And sure, they're is equivalent competitors for Windows. However Mac comes with this software, Windows DOES NOT.
Just to buy the software for windows would be at an insane cost for equivalent software. In fact, show me a pcpartpicker.com custom desktop, or even a laptop from anywhere,
and then in the same build include all the equivalent software and make it come to the same as a mac. Seriously, do it, if you can do it I'll give you a free game key to Diablo 3 ROS.
3. AIO desktops are not stupid. This just in, customers don't care about cooling, upgrading, or hardware restrictions. What they do care about are, productivity, work space, and management. All which is easier on an AIO to a customer.
Plug in a power cable and thats it, ready to go. No other cables that's it. It's simple, it's easy. And iMac's cooling system is good design.
4. Again you are not thinking of the customer base. Customers do not care about upgradeability, expandability, or customizeability. They simply want something that lasts a long time, and will work for a long time. When they need another one down the road they will buy another one. The Mac Pro features hardware at a price competitive edge, and then you get the software as well. You keep forgetting about the software on OSX and how valuable it is, how much it is worth.
You are clearly a PC fanboy, and cannot see an unbiased conversation. You only see the value in custom building, not customer base.
In fact, I bet you I could sell a Mac Pro to a customer easier than a $3000 or whatever custom PC just because of the software that comes with Mac.
For number "2" though, please do that, I will legitimately give you a key if you can.

Felt like building an easy Lego set.
Then again when I was a kid I played with Lego everyday after school for about 6 hours.

I wouldn't recommend running two different speed rated RAMS. It may work, but the only way would be to set them all to the slowest speed.
If you bought an upgrade kit of the same speed you shouldn't have any issues. However that is not guaranteed.

marioo1182 got a reaction from Zyphera in PC won't boot with new graphics card installed :O
The power should be off or you may damage your motherboard.
To clear the CMOS:
1. Turn off PC
2. Switch PSU power OFF
3. Unplug power cord
4. Press power button to cycle any residual power
5. Remove CMOS battery
6. Wait about 5 minutes (I've always waited but I don't know if you actually have to..)
7. Reinsert CMOS battery
8. Plug power cord back in, switch PSU ON, and power on.

So I joined Vessel on the 1 year free trial and so far... I REALLY like it. It's like choosing internet channels (as opposed to TV channels) and you get the content that you want in a much nicer form. The layout of the website seems extremely nice.
However is the video quality of Vessel the same? To me it seems almost like a bit faded. Or maybe my monitor is dirty :3
What have you guys noticed.
Also, when my year expires I'll definitely purchasing a Vessel sub.

marioo1182 reacted to kirashi in *sigh* WTF are you thinking Apple?
Let's look at this objectively, one piece at a time:
"The new Macbook is an engineering marvel, and people will buy it because of it's insane reliability.
It has absolutely no moving parts.
It is not meant for gaming; it is to be used for office work and on the go documents."
I wholeheartedly agree. Apple has always been able to perfect their designs, even while companies like Lenovo and Dell are able to directly compete with designs of their own. Like @marioo1182 said, if you need a portable machine for Office Work/Documents, the MacBook is a great buy. Otherwise the Lenovo Carbon/Yoga Pro 3 or Dell XPS 13 is a better choice should you need more power.
"As well, people don't use flashdrives for storage anymore, people use the cloud and email to transfer documents.
And if you did need to use a USB stick, it's not like you can't charge, just unplug your charger for 10 seconds, transfer files, and plug it back in, people are so stupid..."
Sorry, this is just not happening, at least in North America. If @marioo1182 can tell me where I can score a data plan for mobile access when I'm on the ferry or in transit that doesn't require me to give someone my entire wallet, I will accept the lack of physical storage argument.
Also, if I need to use a USB device on the go, how do I plug it into the USB-C connector?
You can't just "unplug the charger for 10 seconds, transfer files, and plug it back in" without an adapter, or as I like to jokingly call them, Dongles
"People hate on Apple because they are pushing towards a new USB standard?!?!? That doesn't even make sense." I'm not opposed to newer, better connectors. In fact, I love the concept of USB-C being able to handle everything from storage to display and audio.
However, I expect devices with newer connectors to ship with free adapters in the box for at least the first year, and the connector cannot be proprietary.
When printers first changed from parallel to USB, manufacturers included USB-A to USB-B cables for the first few years, before making them a cash-grab accessory.
So many times back in high school (2006-2010) I wanted to buy thin, light laptops (before Ultrabooks) but they mostly used proprietary display adapters. That's called anti-competitive vendor lock-in.
"Oh and guess what, Surface Pro 3 only has one USB port, but no one hated on them? "
That port is an actual USB-A 3.0 port. The kind I can stick my dongle into without needing some gender changing adapter. You could just whip out your stick, firmly plug in swiftly (wiggling it a bit if it's already sticky) and she'll take it, right out of her box. We're talking about the Surface Pro here, lads. Please. Stay on topic.
Having worked retail in a store that relies on its' Mac Sales just as much as PC's to keep hours coming in for the employees, I completely value and understand the reliability and name brand that Apple has built for themselves in the professional and consumer PC market. But facts are facts, no matter how much you try to convince me otherwise, and I have to see it that way for my customers.
If someone comes in asking for a home use computer, for family videos, photos, email, and web browsing, my first question is "Have you thought about a Mac?"
Consequently, if someone comes in asking for a machine to run their already pre-existing accounting and business software, I'm going to figure out if a Mac or PC is a better fit, and offer them a PC 80% of the time.

marioo1182 got a reaction from elecxonica in *sigh* WTF are you thinking Apple?
I agree, but people are hating on it because of what it is.
Some of the reasons are stupid that people say, the USB charge port is the USB port as well! Well who cares? Like seriously, it's not an issue.
Or, it's not powerful enough. That's because it's not supposed to be, it's supposed to be a "lightweight" efficient machine.
Yes I definitely agree it's overpriced, but people are bashing it for what it is when pretty much all the things they are complaining about are completed fine.

marioo1182 reacted to handymanshandle in Is the new MacBook the biggest fail from Apple?
Yeah considering that if Apple can get a 3.5mm jack and 1 USB C I think they can fit at least one or two more on. I personally don't use USB that often so yeah.

marioo1182 got a reaction from Nup in Silicon Lottery
Well, looks like I won the silicon lottery.
Although I may not be talking about Intel i7's, my small chips propagation delay was only 9.8nS.
Typical values are usually above 20nS.
For those that don't know, the propagation delay is the time between input and output response.

marioo1182 got a reaction from Nup in Silicon Lottery
Thanks, forgot to follow.
And yes it is a silicon chip, it is just not a computer chip. It's used on breadboards.
Max frequency is actually directly related to propagation delay. Same thing though.
