  1. split a screen into 6 or how ever much 15.6” can fit in 49.5”. I have a large screen tv that i like to split up into multiple screens to show virtual machine window os in each one. How would I go about doing this?
  2. I came across this https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=9SIAC0F8UP4871 would that do? or this: https://picclick.com/HP-Z820-Workstation-2x-Xeon-E5-2650-20ghz-16-Cores-233147691968.html
  3. No not really... I'm jumping head into this just like I did with software development. You might be right I wanted server protection and get my hand dirty in server configuration but this might not be the best way since I'm not familiar with it... but I taught myself alot on my own so go day to you enterprise server worker...
  4. or this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-R710-Server-2x-3-33GHz-X5680-12-Cores-128GB-RAM-H700-iDRAC-SPS/183353286489?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D888fb2e2c6be46c6878ad9e09a6ae9dc%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D233148869800%26itm%3D183353286489&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 it has 3.33ghz! The other one don't even tell you the ghz.
  5. what about this:https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-High-End-Virtualization-Server-12-Core-128GB-RAM-12TB-RAID-PowerEdge-R710/233148869800?hash=item3648c16ca8:g:1TwAAOSwhW1cduVo:sc:ShippingMethodStandard!30228!US!-1
  6. Good question. Everyone say hyper-v have better performance than other vmware. I'm just running a few virtual machine that can run as smooth like a intel i3 2.50ghz 8gb ram on a 64bit machine laptop that run window 10 or unbuntu os doing things that teypical users do on them like video recording, internet surfing, maybe a game or two or what ever game comes in the os themselves.
  7. I'm looking to take a server like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/372598593925?ul_noapp=true and turn it into a desktop but still can use the resource and it as a server managing multiple virtual machine through the os. Things i like to be inform on: Every video I see it seem like it take a min for a server to boot than a desktop,, it seem slower. So I'm worrying about the speed of the application running on the virtual machine. I research putting a os on a server but they only show the iDRACC way and they never show the os environment just some console showing it been install. The only thing stopping me from buying that item in the link is the lack of material of running a simple window, unbuntu, or any os on a server. Don't reply if you can't provide some link, picture, and good material shading light on this topic. I don't want no opinion base answer or you just telling me what you doing all your own system which aid no help to my current problem.
  8. No I'm saying period it seem server boat long. that link I show you is something of a server even know this server is half the prices and have everything I need me actually utilizing it as a desktop which is also just virtual environment in it self.I research and is how easy it is to use iDrac to even upload a os on the server but still look not what I want to use since it's a window on a different machine than the actually server. You have any reading materiel?? Other than that it look like I might have to look into the dell tower or something similar.
  9. What the topic of that thread should be? I tried to find some information on how to put a os on this server and it seem I must dance with a iDRAC first before I can even touch the resource... and why do a server seem so slow in any video I watch when it comes to the interface... I mean just to turn on it seem like the video is already edit to cut out that time it took cause it so long. How did you do this? Any reference malarial you can link to me?
  10. Okay vga output cool. so what that say about graphics? for video editing? will that do? I'm speaking of rendering web browsers pages, video, and really normal stuff you can do on a simple laptop out the box. Just trying to get inform a little on certain things dealing with server. Since you have experience with this sort of stuff. Dell Poweredge R810 4x Xeon E7-4870 2.4ghz 40-Cores / 128gb / 3x 146gb / H700 hey I see that it has 2.4ghz, I believe I seen intel cpu having less cores but reach a higher number of clock cycle. So does this mean 2.4ghz for each cores? And believe me I'm open to server, I just realize this is a r810 which many say is the best start server to have since it is a spec that many other server is base off of or what ever spec r810 is base off of is what other many server spec base there requirement off of. But again I'm worrying about the easy of use. I like to run a virtual machine or just the main machine like a desktop to organize the other machine but still be able to use it as a server with hot swap and raid3-6 to back up my whole system. This site say some good stuff about it: https://www.zdnet.com/product/dell-poweredge-r810-series/ but there are better reading stuff out there about it.
  11. i'm all down for server. But from my understand server does not do will with graphic task or you have to configure it to have that capability, I'm all down for getting down to components but since I'm not that familiar with dealing with server. I wanted something similar to a desktop tower so I know what I'm working with and I am familiar with. Those specs look great but what of the graphics and setting it up to appear like a normal desktop to control everything or show i get this machine and connect it to my laptop and control it like that? the more information you can throw up at me the better. I like the server from that link cause it has hot swap like a server. Inform me a little on the server aspect with dealing with graphic if you don't mind. thank you for your reply.
  12. I see do you have a system in mind with this already in? I came across this: https://www.abmx.com/workstation-intel something like the above link... but a little cheaper like a thousand or under. And this link say it can only hold 64gb ram: https://community.amd.com/thread/213080 I need 128gb of ram!
  13. More info plus quick look up say the i9 still out clock it... give more info... some links... what is this???
  14. You must be the lucky few cause I can't find anything on those sites.
  15. What you mean 50 bucks? with 64gb of ram and a dual 6 core xeons(which alot of forums say intels processors are better, what is your opinion on this?).. 6 core mean 6 virtual machine and if hyper threading(is that just intel, hyper htreading?) will give you 12 virtual machine and 64/8 will give you 8gb of ram for 8 virtual machine each. And to go along with this a raid controller too??? And you said you pick that up for 50 bucks? Show me. Who and thank you for the reply.
  16. I watch linustecktip whenever I can. I wanted to ask linus a question but this is the best next to thing to doing that: SHORT VESION: Having 12 virtual machine setup to receive video stream to record and stream out to a website to be viewed by others that can communicate with each other through a chat room that is control by a server machine... I repeated it so many times I can put it in one line of sentence now lol. or have a machine that is a super computer and a server in one with swap out hot drive and raid3-6 support. from my research an i7 with 4 core or more with hyper threading plus 36gb of ram can run to my ideal up to 4-6 with good performance, all of this runing as many Ubuntu/CentOS/Debian versions/instances under HyperV. I like a system that comes with hot swap drives and raid2-6 for data lose concern to my who system not just my database but my whole system itself to backup(is that possible?). This is why I also ask for a server machine to connect to it too unless the system is a power computer and a server machine with hot swap and raid6 for data concern lose. The hard drive should be a ssd 1Tb of space and with the ability expand for more space by adding up to 6 additional drive of each being any size of gb up to 1tb each, giving me 7tb of space... and compact that can fit in a closet. I came across this: https://www.abmx.com/workstation-intel something like the above link... but a little cheaper. like a thousand or under. LONG VERSION: I'm looking for a machine that I can easily expand that comes with a few things already and is not to expensive. What I'm aiming to do: Creating a server, web server, and database server control from one access point. I like to be able to have a hardware machine powerful enough to be able to run: 12 screen streaming and recording happening at the same time 4 server running taking in request and dishing out responses(include the job of the servers also running single message and group message room) 12 browsers to view the result Running for a total of 12 to 16 hours a day so let just say 24 to make sure we over estimate to be on the safe side Data storage capacity to handle storage of that much data in a year. I think something similar but not the same would be liveme. What server do they have configure? As I research different server, trying to find a good choice for wanting to run several virtual machine at ones having them display on several screen all can be control by one mouse, screen, and keyboard to where I can move the virtual machine around to any monitor but at the same time each one has it own mouse to program individual if I want. What would you consider is the requirement in what I would need? Little more detail: This is a start up. I like someone to list out what I would need for that tall order. the real start up can just be five screen to display, a machine strong enough to run five virtual machine at the same time smoothly all doing video recording, video streaming, and running a visual application. What I want to do I can do with a simple laptop: setup a web server to run and serve up a website website let you watch one live videos stream. One live video feed is coming in, onto the laptop screen, it is recorded and stream out at the same time. someone go to website look at video live feed and can chat away with others, server handle this too. I can do all of this with one simple latop! Now I want to do it 6-12times with out having to get 6-12computers to do it and have to go between that many or configure all of them to be control by one mouse but still got to go between them to manga them... oh you know what would be a good ideal! If I can just create a bunch of virtual machine to run ubuntu and do the same operation in each one from one machine and also have a server machine connected to it to handle datastorage and web server. Just give me a good machine I can easily configure add the amount of ram and even more if I need too, easily to expand to add the 6-8core processor. Having 12 virtual machine setup to receive video stream to record and stream out to a website to be viewed by others that can communicate with each other through a chat room that is control by a server machine... I repeated it so many times I can put it in one line of sentence now lol. or have a machine that is a super computer and a server in one with swap out hot drive and raid3-6 support. from my research an i7 with 4 core or more with hyper threading plus 36gb of ram can run to my ideal up to 4-6(boost to 6 cause of hyper threading and logic brick black magic) with good performance, all of this runing as many Ubuntu/CentOS/Debian versions/instances under HyperV. So i should be looking to getting an i7 with 4 or more core for better performance with running more than 6 virtual machine at one time. also with different type of virtual software one can use which just to list some that I came across; virtual box, VMWare Player Workstation, Hyper-V, and if you know some more shoot them out. Now I like a system that system to come with hot swap drives and raid2-6 for data lose concern to my who system not just my database but my whole system itself to backup(is that possible). This is why I also ask for a server machine to connect to it too or is that crazy? I still like to get a server machine unless this system is a power computer and a server machine with hot swap and raid6 for data concern lose. I guess the hard drive should be a ssd 1Tb of space and with the ability expand for more space by adding up to 6 additional drive of each being any size of gb up to 1tb each, giving me 7tb of space... and compact that can fit in a closet. I came across this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L1C718W/ref=psdc_13896597011_t3_B07F7HWDXZ and the varies of other product similar to it below. would this do for my use case or something similar? it only have 16ram though. or this https://www.pugetsystems.com/featured/8-Processors-32-Cores-56 ! but they say they don't simply them anymore and beside I couldn't afford that how ever much it was lol. Just like to have a system that I can run 6-12 virtual machine. Again All replies are appreciative!
