  1. I don't know if you went with an alternative or if you are still looking but if you are still interested overclockers is now showing the gl850 as back in stock, I just managed to order mine https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lg-27gl850-b-27-2560x1440-nano-ips-144hz-1ms-freesync-g-sync-compatible-widescreen-led-gaming-monit-mo-155-lg.html
  2. I have posted other threads about wanting a new monitor 1440p 144hz but unfortunately lots of displays are out of stock (I ideally wanted the LG gl850) so thought I would start a new thread (sorry if it's spammy) with what seems to be the only 2 monitors I can currently find in stock at these specs and not way over budget. Which would you say is the better option from the two mentioned in the title, knowing they are both of a similar price (£500 ish) For background; I will be powering it with a RTX 2070 and mainly playing games (RPG's and FPS though not super competitively) and standard browsing / YouTube and light content streaming.
  3. Yeah me either until I browsed overclockers forums and a mod post stated it. If you do go for the vg27aq it is slightly cheaper on amazion: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Gaming-VG27AQ-Monitor-Adaptive-Sync/dp/B07VTPKCLS someone else here also recommended me this https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Gaming-VG32VQ-Curved-Monitor/dp/B07TTJR48G which is slightly bigger and cheaper but is slower and isn't an IPS panel, so I'm kinda torn myself
  4. I am in the exact same position. Overclockers have exclusivity on the gl850 here in the UK and haven't responded about stock levels so I have been looking at getting the Asus TUF VG27AQ instead: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-tuf-gaming-vg27aq-27-2560x1440-ips-165hz-1ms-freesync-g-sync-compatible-gaming-monitor-mo-0a9-as.html I'd be interested to see what you go for and what others suggest
  5. I know you recommended the Asus vg32vq but putting it up against the vg27aq that whilst smaller has faster refresh and is an ips, but being around £100 more expensive, which would you go for and what if anything would be your reasoning, or just personal preference?
  6. Thanks for the suggestions and confirming it's not a bad switch. Think I'm looking at either the lg 27 gl850 or the Asus vg32vq. I would also consider the viewsonic xg270qg but doesn't seem to be available anywhere on the UK market. Saying that the other two also seem to be hard to come by. But that's for the response nonetheless
  7. So as the title says I'm looking at switching from a dual monitor set up to a single monitor. I currently use two old 1080p Samsung monitors (a syncmaster s24f350 and a p2450h) which are like 5 and 11 years old respectively and 24". I mostly use my pc for gaming and some office work so looking at something with a higher refresh rate and would like something that can display in 1440p. I have an rtx 2070 so would like to be getting a bit more from it than currently with my old monitors. I would like to spend around the £300 mark but depending on the product I'd be open to spending more since as you can see I tend to not upgrade monitors often. What would you suggest? And has anyone done a similar switch and how did you find going from two monitors back to 1? I do love the convenience of dual monitors but can't afford two new monitors unfortunately.
  8. The monitor above that boggy has linked is VA but has a 1millisecond response time, whats the case against VA? Sorry, I'm not too well versed on monitor tech, hence asking here.
  9. I am in the UK, England more specifically.
  10. So I'm looking at buying a new monitor and need it to be max £300 (~$380) but ideally less . I am looking for suggestions as to what the absolute best is in this price range. Usage will be gaming and general computer usage / web browsing, whilst I do use some editing tools it's not to a professional level so I wouldn't need to consider that. Ideally I would like a 1440p 144Hz monitor but not sure if that is possible with the budget I have set, if someone could show me otherwise that would be great I currently have two pretty generic old samsung hdmi 1080p 60hz monitors (syncmasters I think they are) GPU wise I am running a RTX 2070 If not exact suggestions just tips for the best things to look for above resolution and refresh rate would be good like what panel is best and things like that. Thanks
  11. Yeah I have reached out to CM support to see what they can do if anything. Can't find any spares myself, the UK for some reason isn't a great place for things like this. Me either, thanks for looking anyway. For now I have managed to gorilla glue it all back together but it's isn't without its imperfections but it's functional at least. Suppose of all things to break it could have been much worse, really surprised the glass side panel survived and the HDD.
  12. Hi, So I recently built a new system in a Coolermaster H500 RGB case (https://www.ebuyer.com/845129-cooler-master-mastercase-h500-rgb-computer-case-mcm-h500-ignn-s00) I had it on my desk and unfortunately my young niece had an accident and fellover into it knocking it off, luckily everything internally is fine (or seems to be for now) just the front panel of the case smashed off. (the niece is also fine) Does anyone know of a UK supplier that stocks spare parts? I do have the clear one that comes in the box but would much prefer to have the mesh one for airflow (and I prefer the look) Big thanks to anyone with any info
  13. This is what I was thinking regarding HT. The 9700k is actually the exact same price in the UK (atleast from my retailer) so don't know how that affects the decision?
  14. Mainly Adobe products such as Premiere, Photoshop and some After effects. OBS for streaming / capturing Then many different IDE's for different platforms. I am looking to get the build complete this week so not really looking to wait unfortunately.
  15. Hi so I'm about to purchase parts for a new gaming and streaming / all round rig (bits of video / graphic editing and programming, nothing major) I had originally picked out the i5 9600k but having seen some reviews and especially the gamers nexus video I am having second thoughts. I am now also looking at the i7 8700k or the 9700k, they are currently the same price with my retailer. Out of the three, which do you think is best option? How much does hyperthreading make a difference etc...
  16. Thanks for the detailed response. I think for myself then the cheaper 'h500' model would work just fine. I think this is what I will end up purchasing. Thanks also @LukeSavenije
  17. I honestly think you might be spot on with the H500, somehow didn't realise before that it comes with mesh and plastic option. Gets really good reviews too. I had been looking at the H500P Mesh but didn't like it in the white variant, this is much nicer. Is there that much of a massive difference between this base H500 and the H500M to warrant the 'm' being almost twice the price?
  18. So I am looking at building a new system (post about that in appropriate forum) But it's going to be an i5 9600k / RTX 2080 build. I currently have a HAF X which I purchased about 6-7 years ago. Its excellent, great airflow etc.... as everyone already knows. It is however, showing its age and the filters are all clogged up now, with cleaning not being the easiest and I have lost a few fixtures and fittings. So anyway, I am looking at a new case, I want something with still good airflow, admittedily not sure I'll get something on par with the HAF X, as I am pretty sure I would like a glass panel on the sides which means I'll lose the massive side fan. I also don't want to go RGB mad but I would like some, I am getting a RGB cpu cooler, so a couple included RGB case fans would be nice. Other than that, I would like a front IO with atleast a couple USB 3.0/.1 ports and a fan / rgb control button if possible and good cable management. Will take any suggestions at all (dont mind if its full or mid, I'm used to the HUGE HAF X)

Only other things I need to decide on are, 1) what case to get, I really love the HAF X I have, its treated me really well these last 6-7 years and has amazing temperatures but its definitely seen some use and the filters etc are quite dirty and very hard to clean. Also I really like the look of some of these tempered glass cases about now, can anyone recommend one with good air flow? I kinda like the idea of a bit of RGB not going to go all out on it though, providing there are some included in the case it's unlikely I will buy more unless necessary for airflow. Then also, would it be worth the extra cash to go for an i7 9700k eventhough they have taken away hyperthreading? (I think I'm set on an intel system) Thanks for everyone's responses up to now also.
  20. Hi so I am looking at a new build, but thinking I could potentially use some parts I already have from my system I built around 6-7 years ago (reason for upgrade) I am in the UK and tend to use ebuyer.com for parts but open to any suppliers. My current spec is: Intel core i7 3770k 3.5Ghz socket 1155 (not oc'ed) 16GB DDR3 1600MHz Kingston RAM Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H ATX Motherboard Geforce GTX 970 GPU (Upgraded more recently than the rest of the PC) Coolermaster 850w Silent Pro M2 Modular PSU Coolermaster HAF X High Airflow Full Tower Seagate 2TB 3.5" SATA Hard Drive So obviously I know to upgrade my cpu I also need a new mobo and new RAM and could benefit from a SSD, other than that I currently use 2 1920x1080p monitors and want to keep a dual monitor setup although would look to move to a higher resolution in the future. I use my PC mainly for gaming and work witch include some use of programs such as photoshop and after effects. I also occasionally stream / record gameplay. Any suggestions are very welcome but I would like to keep the build at around the £1000 price mark but open to go higher if necessary or plan for components to be added in the future rather than right now.
