I recently bought new Acer Aspire 7 and started testing it, as I have several days to return it to seller if there are any issues. Model is A715-72G (i5-8300H and GTX1050, 15.6" version). Problem is that it thermal throttles during stress tests and gaming. I was reading about throttling on the internet and I have found that it can happen in modern mobile devices, but I have no idea how much throttling is too much. Is it normal for this model, or it has cooling problem and I should return it? Here are some stress testing results (every stress test was running for ~10min):
Aida64 FPU stress test, no throttling yet:
Aida64 CPU and memory stress test:
Aida64 CPU + GPUs, CPU clock drops to around 700MHz sometimes:
Furmark + Prime95 in blend mode, it's not as bad as in AIDA test, but it's little bit below base clock:
Half of an hour of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, high preset 1920x1080, I didn't noticed any lags or anything like that, it was > 40 fps all time:
So, is that fine or should I return laptop to seller?
