  1. Hi Guys, I recently got asked to reset a laptop by a mate, it is an HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 with sure start and a bios password which he has forgotten. I've seen this guide which suggests I use an online tool to reset the password: As well as other guides which suggest removing the cmos battery (such as this one: https://www.4winkey.com/computer-help/how-to-reset-bios-password-on-hp-laptop.html#:~:text=1.,F7 for HP SpareKey Recovery.) How should I proceed? Cheers, Del
  2. Hi Guys, A few years ago i tried to replace the dead battery and cracked screen of my old iphone 5, i ordered an ifixit kit but accidentally only ordered the battery not the screen. I decided to atill attempt the repair with a broken screen then order the new screen later, but because the screen was already cracked it seperated as i took it off making it ocmpletely unusable. forgot about it for a few years untill i found the phone in a drawer. I had left it in the draw opened up with the new battery installed but no screen. I decided i may as well fix it and give it to my brother, so i bought the cheapest screen i could find on ali express. It came a few days ago and looked pretty legit, even came with a screen protector and set of tools. (link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003804289520.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.5ee818026z1mvh) So i opened up an ifixit guide, and installed the new screen. As i did so i realised the metal plate that covers the screen ribbon cables (see image) was missing as well as the two Penta lobe screws. I decided to continiue wiht putting the screen on and plugged in the phone. Even plugged into power, the phone wont show any signs of life. I think its accepting charge as the batter heated up a bit after a while on charge (not excessively hot, as you would expect form any phone on charge), but holding down the power button does nothing. What are my next steps? I dont want to spend too much more money on it. Is it a lost cause? Are there any simple things i could try? Cheers. Del
  3. I prefer light theme on OneNote because its what the pages are designed for so its easier to read, but in OneNote, all the pages have the content in the opposite theme to the rest of the page. in the top photo the content is normal (light mode) and the app theme is dark mode, and when i change the mode to light mode, the content goes dark. Does anyone know why this is happening? I've searched google and couldn't find any mentions of this happening and I've restarted my computer etc.
  4. which devices? im only aware of chromecast audio which is discontiniued and going for $150+ each on ebay
  5. hi guys, i have three zones of existing speakers with each zone connected to an amp. is there any way i can integrate these with google home so i can play music through them fingers crossed for a simple solution
  6. i have an optical out on my mobo, and im no audiophile, thatll do for my purposes. my main issue is connecting via google home
  7. hi guys, i have a amp and speaker setup which is currently connected to a bluetooth dongle which allows me to play music through them with my phone. id like to 1) be able to use the speakers as an audio output from my computer 2) bypass the cheap bluetooth dongle 3) play music with my other nest speakers around the house my basic idea is that the amp would be connected straight to my computers optical audio out and id be able to somehow connect my pc to to nest speaker network but i have no idea how that would work any ideas?
  8. hi guys, im planning to make my own custom case with one usb-c port as front io my initial plan was to have it connected straight to my mobo's usb-10g port but it would be cool if it could have pd capabilities to charge my phone. i looked around for a solution and this is as close as i found but not what im looking for my ideal solution would be cheap and uses sata or molex as an input if its the only option id be happy to settle with only the 5v and 12v modes of usb pd which would still get me 36w charging
  9. i think he means have a person call a phone number and it would connect them to a discord call my suggestion would be to connect a phone to a computer using aux cables with the output of the phone going to the input of another phone or ocmputer and vice versa then start a call on the phone and discord on the pc
  10. some high end psus have a feature that allows them to turn off the fan at low loads. i doubt your psu has that feature. the psu does not have a data link to the rest of the system so the fan cant be monitored or controlled
  11. this website is good fir these types of questions: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-5600G-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-3600X/m1553183vs4041 the website shows a 92 vs 82 percent score in gaming.
  12. other then that cant fault your build except imo a build this size should have more storage. your case has a 3.5'' mount so you could benefit from adding a hard drive if you think youll need it.
  13. for your mobo the only option that fits your specs is this: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/yzWzK8/asus-rog-strix-z690-i-gaming-wifi-mini-itx-lga1700-motherboard-rog-strix-z690-i-gaming-wifi i think ltt did a piece on it recently but i cant remember where it was. i remember they talked about the integrated thunderbolt which is a cool plus especially for a sff build.
  14. this article says the clearance for your chosen ram is 35mm. https://help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412253644045-DDR5-memory-module-dimensions imo noctua is the king for air coolers so the nhd15 seems like a great fit for you the issue is the cooler has a ram clearance of 32mm which means you will hace to raise the front fan by about 5mm to fit your ram with some clearance. source: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/noctua-nh-d15-memory-clearance.3635794/ this will increase your cooler height to 170mm your case has a cooler clearance of 165mm so it wont fit with the front raised fan. you options are a) choose the smaller u12a which will give you less overclocking headroom or b) remove the optional second fan from the d15 reducing airflow over the cooler the u12a has a nspr of 169 watts so shouldn't be too much of an issue if you do. https://noctua.at/en/noctua-standardised-performance-rating you could also just find some lp ram that's less then 32mm
