MumboJumbo got a reaction from ShearMe in Xonar Essence STX vs. Xonar Essence STX II (What's the difference?)
I wouldn't buy it because it has a stupid name.
Also, 250$ for a STICK DAC?!

If you buy headphones for anything apart from sound I don't want you in my life lol

MumboJumbo got a reaction from Sexy Vanilla Freshness in Good mic for Teamspeak
The Snowball has two capsules inside, and you can switch between them. one is cardioid (mic records sound from one direction only), and the second is omnidirectional. (records sound from all sides)
The Snowball Ice version has only one capsule, the cardioid one.
The regular Snowball gives more bang for your buck, like IBlubbleTea said.

I call BS.
Some people spend thousands of dollars, then try to convince everyone else it was for those differences.

MumboJumbo reacted to ShearMe in Sennheiser HD 419 Personal Opinions and Experiences
Great! So few people let us know what they think of their new purchases so eloquently.
For future readers, I tend to recommend the 439 more as it has a removable cable, and you can still find it cheap in the US usually.

MumboJumbo reacted to MayflowerElectronics in Sennheiser HD650 or Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium
Eh, not really. The headphone amp on that isn't very powerful .
-
MumboJumbo got a reaction from ShearMe in Sennheiser HD650 or Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium
Taking the price into consideration - DT990 Pro all the way. Premium is twice the price and doesn't worth it IMO.
Not taking the price into consideration - HD650...the treble is more subtle and the overall sound signature is smoother. There's no peak in the treble like the DT990 have.
You can easily EQ the DT990, though.

MumboJumbo reacted to ShearMe in Best noise-cancelling surround sound headphones under 200 USD?
Get something noise isolating instead, like Beyerdynamic DT770. You can emulate surround sound via programs on your PC, like Razer Surround which is free.

MumboJumbo reacted to ShearMe in ~$200 headphones for classical, electronic, and production
Yes, but the sub bass drops off fairly sharply. This leaves you with accurate drum attacks and such, but very little of that atmospheric bloom type stuff which I think is important for full band live concert hall recordings. K612 has deeper bass response at a minor cost of treble response. Overall it's more of a flat response than the 701/702 if that's what you're looking for, but you do loose that removable cable.

MumboJumbo reacted to Lauen in Is the AntLion ModMic worth it?
Well I bought the Snowball because I wanted a good mic, plus I started up a youtube channel not too long ago. Then I bought the Mod Mic just for the lols to see how good it was. now I usually use the Mod Mic for Skype with friends

Calling someone names doesn't make you more right. And copying text and showing data also doesn't prove anything...Audio preference is purely subjective and cables don't really make a difference in sound. That's the general consensus, not even my opinion.

MumboJumbo got a reaction from ShearMe in Is the AntLion ModMic worth it?
Mhm. I get it now, thanks.
Question was if you meant that they haven't nailed the design down only to mics plugged in to motherboard via the standard jack.
-
MumboJumbo reacted to ShearMe in Is the AntLion ModMic worth it?
It's more about finding a consistent OEM that can produce it cheap enough, not about making a good mic. $50 really isn't that expensive when you think about it.
The Blue Snowball is an all contained unit, where Blue can control the preamp, ADC, and everything in between. They also are a big company with lots of expensive products that can fund the R&D of cheaper products.
What?

MumboJumbo reacted to Lauen in Seeking suggestions for new audio and microphone setup. Budget is 1000usd
yes, open headphones don't isolate noise, so you'd be able to hear things outside your headphones more than with closed headphones.
Closed headphones usually have a sound that is directed straight at your ears, while open headphones allow the sound to "move" around. not sure how to really explain it, but open headphones tend to have an airy sound, like the sound is coming from outside the headphones. With your budget, I'd actually get an open pair and a closed pair, and depending on your needs, either sell off one of them, or start collecting like some of us here. My collection is this:
Audio Technica ATH-M50s, Sennheiser PC360, Shure SRH440 w/ 840 pads, JBL J33, Koss PortaPo, Pioneer SE-A1000, CHC Silverado. Mics are Blue Snowball and Mod Mic 2.3. -
