I am folding with a 2600K @ 4.7ghz and 2 GTX Titans OC to 1150 Core and 1596 Mem. It's the only thing I fold with.

I have a 5930K OC'd to 4.6ghz at 1.31v and tgwo 980ti's overclocked to 1480 and 2000 memory +87v and BARELY hit 550 watts on Witcher 3. OC that balls to the wall man.

I am pretty sure they were recalled actually. There was something wrong with them so they stopped selling them.

Having owned SLI /Crossfire with 760 780 280x 290x 970 980 Titan and 980ti I will tell you that even dual 980s stutter on some games. A single 980ti is the best thing you can buy and it will actually last. I have two and it is WAY overkill and I have never said that about any of my setups. Don't skimp and get a single 980ti.

If you love actually MAXING game settings then a 980 ti is JUST enough for 1080p right now. It has great performance in games like Witcher 3 and GTA V.  I have had dual 280x, 290x, 760s, 770s, 780, titans, 970s, 980s and I can say from experience the 980 ti is the best GPU.  I have always been unsatisfied with performance of all the cards I mentioned in SLI because they simply couldn't max games (980 could but has SLI issues with Witcher and GTA V that I could never really figure out). I say go for the 980 ti, even if you lose a little money.  Many people will say its overkill but I demand 60-80 fps minimum with all settings MAXED.  Reviewers do not max game settings, or at least most don't. Two 980 ti's will be good enough to max everything at 1440p. 4K is too demanding for most newer titles with any combination of GPUs unless you sacrifice some game settings.

440 more for GPU's is a lot but I can't really talk because I sold my 980s for 980 ti's. Me personally, I would do it. The 980 ti is WAY better than 390x's. I had dual 290x's and my 970's beat those and when I upgraded to my 980's it was an even bigger gap. The 980 ti is obviously even that much better than the 980 so speaking from experience and not reading about it I would highly recommend upgrading since returning them won't cost you anything.

Looking at this pic http://www.cooltek.de/media/image/w2_07.jpg it looks like you have enough room BUT the piece that is holding the side panel on (the nub right across from the first PCI card) might get in the way of screwing your card in. It is extremely difficult to screw the card in with the ample room I have but you will probably have a serious issue. Honestly, unless you are water cooling I would not buy a Classified card. 

My case is the 780t by Corsair.  The card sticks out roughly 1" more than a typical card. It SUCKS to take the card in and out of the case though. Hopefully this gives you an idea, if not let me know.

A 290 doesnt beat a 970 so what made you think a 390 would? Hell a 290x trades blows with a well OC'd 970. No shocking results here.

I have a 780t and it's amazing. Yeah it has plastic but the space inside is awesome for air cooling and water cooling.

You have a 970 so you will NEVER hit the temp limit, go for power limit.

well looks like my plan to get a 5820k is still going to be a good one.

Our perception of the word "budget" in the realm of headphones is obviously vastly different. 990 660ohms are on sale on Amazon for $299; that's nearing the upper limit of what I'm willing to spend on headphones ($450 pre-tax being the maximum) and not really what I'd consider "budget". Now, $1000 for headphones is absolutely ludacrious, IMO. 
 
To me, $50-$100 are budget headphones. If you feel $1000 isn't a ridiculous amount to spend on headphones, then of course anything even half the price will seem "budget" oriented.

I have the 990 Pro 250ohm model and I love them.  There is just enough bass but the clarity is amazing.  I have SP2500's for my computer and I would always see Linus and Slick looking out the window and I would sit here and be like "what the hell are they looking at", after putting my headphones on I hear everything in the video to include the passing cars.  The 990's are comfortable and extremely light.  I can't recommend them enough.

Hey TechSilver13,   Larger drives tend to work faster due to the higher data density. You would, though lose everything on the drive in case of failure (compared to having data on multiple smaller drives). I have always preferred to have multiple smaller drives than one larger one. WD Red drives are great NAS/RAID class drives tha work on regular systems as well. They work cool, quiet and save energy. WD Black drives are designed for performance, durability and heavier and longer workloads.  Depends on what you are planning to do with those drives, either option can be good.   Just a small note, HGST is the former Hitachi company.   Captain_WD.

An SSD is not necessary but they are the single best thing you can do to increase overall system speed and actually notice it in daily tasks.

A Z97 build is very close in price the an X99 5820K build...within 100 dollars.

That's a 180 dollar difference or if you get to a microcenter (probably the only way I'd go X99) its a 75 dollar difference.
 
I would go X99 for the better upgrade ability but I would not pay 200 dollars unless you are really cramming a lot of expansion cards or doing rendering of some sort.
 
Now please understand I am ONLY talking about upgrades (PCIE Lanes) here.  Z97 it limiting when it comes to PCIE Lanes.  I had a Z87 ASRock Extreme9 that was 300 bucks because of the PLX chip to help with all the PCIE cards I was using.  When I went Z97 I bought a board without the PLX chip (mainly because the ASRock Extreme9 is UGLY) and I had two GPUS/a Creative ZxR sound card/and a PCIE 68U (Asus Wireless AC PCIE adapter). I had SEVERE problems with lag in games, audio crackling, and wifi signal not being strong (it went from 1300Mbps to in the TEENS!) My PCIE Lanes were completely tapped out so I upgraded to X99 and have had ZERO issues because of the extra lanes that X99 provided.  If you don't expect to have dual GPUs with at least two extra PCIE cards added in throughout the LIFE of your build (M.2 which uses PCIE lanes) sound card, or wifi adapter) then go Z97.  If you plan on using your build for years and would like the option to upgrade without having to ditch your motherboard/CPU/RAM go X99.  A Z97 board with a PLX chip is 232 dollars (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=z97+extreme9&N=-1&isNodeId=1) and it gets pretty bad reviews.  If you buy a PLX Z97 board you may as well spend the 75 bucks or go to microcenter and spend about 20 extra bucks and go X99.

I think everyone forgets how awful AMD has been with driver releases the past 6 months....did I say releases? I meant release because there has been one, that's a ton of unoptimized games and no crossfire support. Pretty terrible if you ask me.  I sold my dual 290x cards in my main rig, the dual 280x's in the wifes rig, and a 290 from my in my other rig because there is simply no support for the hardware.  I am sure the 390x will be impossible to get at release and I am sure the drivers will see some updates to iron out kinks but I bet they still suck and have the BLACK SCREEN issues.

The H100i is not enough at all for a 4790k, I returned that crap the day I bought it and got a H320 from NCIX. Now that's a cooler worthy enough to put on the 4790k. 

By the time you go 4K the Titan X will probably not be the best card on the market.  I say buy 980 SLI and sell them when you decide to do 4K for the best your budget can get you at that time.

Its all good, that is a good score though considering your CPU is 3 years old. I bet it makes ZERO difference in gaming compared to my 4790k.
