  1. If you want to be able to play new games at the absolute highest settings at the highest framerates you will be upgrading every year or two...Period. There is no way to future proof whatever you buy. Also they sort of cherrypicked two situations in games that displayed poor frame results....yes we know running ray tracing destroys frames and if you saw most of the reviews when the RTX cards came out people said it really wasn't worth it. For the most part though your graphics card is going to play a much larger role then your CPU will, as we all know, so something like even a 3600 and definitely 3700 should be able to keep up with graphics cards for a few years at least. Also they act like a 20 percent boost in performance isnt a big deal? Especially with how close that 20 percent increase put the chips against intel offerings its a huge deal. Just because the consoles have the threads doesn't mean they will use them and again you are looking at it wrong...it's about the graphics card...not the CPU...regardless of how many threads the console have to use they will always be limited by their graphics cards....
  2. There is no set expiration date on computer parts..there is 30 year old stuff out there that still runs just fine. So basically just wnbe something goes bad it goes bad..no one can say for sure part x should last x amount of years.....
  3. I was originally considering a Tomahawk because in the price range it seems to be the most recommended because it's got good VRM. So now there have been some issues with the Tomahawaks, MSI has release the MAx version of the board in some regions but not the US yet and on top of that people that have gotten MAX boards are saying the POST times on the boards are in the 30 second range. Which is just completely unacceptable. Also some reviews on the board says the onboard sound quality isn't very good, which is a bit of a need for me. So I basically started looking elsewhere and picking seems to be slim. Could I get a board with ALC1220 in the hundred ish dollar range? Since Im running a 3600 and I dont think Ill OC it since these chips dont seem to OC great anyway...Ill probably just set PBO and leave it alone beyond that. I see is the ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming-ITX/ac and the Gigabyte B450I Aorus Pro Wifi AM4 mini-ITX but these are ITX boards? I would be limiting myself heavily with these wouldn't I be? I think there is a ROG Strix ITX board that have far better VRM than the full size ROG strix b450 boards? Same with the FATAL1ty boards..there is a full size one and the VRM is worse, IIRC, but on top of that the ITX has intel lan and realtek 1220 audio and the full size swaps that for 892 audio and realtek lan. Granted the ITx version of them are more money but it just sort of strikes me as odd the ITX version get the better components seems like the whole thing is reversed.... So in the hundred to around 130 range what is a board that will run a 3600 at PBO, definitely has AC 1220 for audio and hopefully has intel lan....and doesn't completely suck in the VRM section.... The only thing I can really find is the Strix F Gaming...but looking at the list the VRM is not the best by far....Ive also basically only been looking at B450 boards because they seem to be the cheapest and I don't really need any of the added features going to x460 or even x570
  4. How small is small formfactor? And come on orange is the new black.... I dont consider TKLs small form factor. Poker IIs are very well regarded..Ive never used one as I just got into this myself but I have one on the way. If you can deal with the lack of function and /or arrow keys I dont know if there is a better choice for the money.
  5. QFR if you can find one or a Ducky Zero go.... As for the clears....mine aren't silent that's for sure...they're not loud by any means but they're not silent either. The noise they do make though is not off putting though, its even somewhat satisfying. The issue you may run into with reds though is bottoming out. They're very light so you may bottom them a lot when you first get them.
  6. So aside from the fact that its god aweful? ok... First....how about all the macro keys being on the wrong side? should be on the left side not your mouse side...sure it looks like you can move the num pad but then the macro keys will be at the far end. Second modular? how modular can a keyboard really be? looks it me that the extent of "fully modular" is the fact that you can detach the aforementioned numpad and adjust the enormous wrist rest. third...who needs a touchscreen on a keyboard? What would you use it for that's not already on the screen? Who the heck is actually going to use that thing to launch game? Im sure setting up the touchscreen is way easier than just double clicking a desktop icon or going into the start menu.....key sarcasm 4 you don't have room for a bigger monitor but you do for what has to be the biggest keyboard ever made? 5 ITS NOT EVEN MECHANICAL....and before you say it...it does effing matter...especially at that price point. 6 quality product and madcatz do not come to mind at the same time for me..in fact I pretty much consider madcatz crap 7 who needs a clock on their keyboard? or timers? There is a clock on the task bar..there is a clock on your phone which is probably sitting right next you right now. come on seriously. WTF are you timing while on your computer? Mechanical are coming out with multi color backlights....I dont like backlight but I suppose people do What app could the touchscreen possible have thats good and not nave a better desktop equivalent? I have an 84 key keyboard with full media controls on it........ so there's about 10 but it doesn't matter I saw the conversation, your mind is made up, I debated posting this, go ahead make your bed...for crying out loud its as much as a GTX770....go ahead buy the thing...throw a roast in the oven set the timer and go to town gaming...its not my money
  7. So no one seems to like the VA monitors....what are some decent 1080P 27 ips' I should take a look at?
  8. Isnt the viewing experience comparable with VA though? The contrast ratio is far superior and the have blacks that no other type can match. Colors aren't quite as good as IPS but some say its nearly as good and some of the newer ones like the ones I listed are very close.
  9. What kind of hardcore games? I play shooters mostly...Battlefield, World of Tanks, maybe the occasional counterstrike. Things like that mostly recreational..though I do like to feel that I'm competitive. So I definite don't want my monitor holding me back to an extent....I know TN or CRT even if I want the absolute fastest but I'm willing to give up a little for better colors, viewing angles and things like that...I dont make money at games so for me its all about enjoyment.
  10. I've been looking at monitors for a bit now trying to narrow down the right one for the money I want to spend. I can get decent IPS monitors for around 300 and some VAs for even less. Two VA monitors that I have been looking at are Asus VN279Q and the BenQ EW2740L. These seem to be the 2 best rated VA monitors out there right now, aside from far more expensive models. This will be for gaming so that needs to be taken into account but for all intents and purposes these seem to be as fast as you can get for a VA panel. Obviously though they will have some ghosting, but I don't know if it comparable to an IPS. I like the idea of the very high contrast ratios you can get with VA monitors, but I don't know if the colors can match IPS. Some say yes and some say no. The Asus seems that is has an issue with blacks, for VA is very odd. However it seems that this is actually an issue with Nvidia drivers not using the full color range over HDMI and is fixed with a registry edit until they address it in a driver update. Some say this works some say it doesn't. It is also really cheap right now. As for the BenQ Im not really sure....I think the actual panel is not quite as fast as the Asus and it has a bit more ghosting is some areas. Some red trails and other ghosting or overshoot issues has been noted in reviews but I cant tell if its any better on the Asus. Price for the BenQ is more but still not terrible. Also I'm not sure how all this compares to what an IPS can offer. Ive looked at a few IPS monitors Asus MX279H or the Samsung S27C570H..the have decent response times and good input lag. Other than that Im not too sure whats out there. I'm just looking for some recommendation and some opinions on VA vs IPS as well. IF there are other monitors out there I'm primarily looks at 1080p and 27 inches. I have a GTX 770 and Im somewhat concerned about getting satisfactory framerates going to 1440p and for what I can spend it would have to be a Korean monitor, which Im also not sure about.
