  1. If I were in your shoes and if I didnt have a CPU for my media server and I could upgrade my 3700X in the process, I would 100% take that oppurtunity to get a 5800X3D and a decent CPU cooler. However, alternative would be something like 3200G would be more than sufficient for a nas.
  2. Depends on what you plan on doing. A basic NAS does need many cores.
  3. Title and the content ask a different question. They are already in the PCs.
  4. As far as I know no. Isn’t FSR merely a software implementation?
  5. Cinebench doesnt really crash unless rams are extremely unstable. I personally recommend this option in Prime95.
  6. First screenshot shows your currently applied settings, second one shows the supported timing/frequency profiles your rams support.
  7. Native 4k is not gonna happen in games like Cyberpunk with that card. If you blast the FSR to worst looking option then yeah you can probably get it to work but it will look like shit.
  8. You turned on the DOCP but your motherboard didnt apply them. See the second picture, it shows your XMP-3200 profile at the last column in the timings table. You were supposed to have 16,20,20,38,58 as your primary timings, you have them at 22,22,22,52,74. Timings alone tell me this could be a Hynix kit.

its taking quite a bit of context to get it to work, ill update when I am finished.
  10. Today's experiment: I am going into threads where users had a shitfest and copying messages to chatgpt to explain their mindset.

I've seen it in action, ChatGPT seems surprisingly capable at understanding incoherent rambling.

  11. Yeah I somehow missed that part while reading. lmao. Yeah that begs to wonder, why would you even need to lol? Every single thing is exposed to user if they are running as root in their operating system. Only those are not user accessible are hidden, just like they dont appear in bios .

so in disks alone I am 9 amps on 5v rail. VS450 allegedly does 20 on 5v. I also just realized I will now have 26 SMR disks in RAIDZ2
  15. I just ordered 16x1TB HDDs. I wish I had sponsors man. I wouldn’t mind 30x4TB disks. Instead I guess I’ll live with modest, 26x1TB(RAIDZ2 so total of 24TB) and 4x4TB (RAIDZ2 so 8TB useable).

I have so many 2.5” disks that I am pretty sure I am pushing my VS450s 5v rail.

you have enough platters to serve a whole town

  16. In the end gave this a go and found the shitty disk. Funny enough its another Pollyanna hitachi. Thanks that worked.
  17. Honestly speaking I was wondering if there was some sort of an SMART data that could indicate issues like this so that I can read serial number of the disk before disconnecting it.
  18. Yeah that is a problem in itself too. I only have direct access to first 18 drives (I have 3x6 bay 2.5" caddies in the 5.25 bays) rest are internal and some are taped inside the case. I gave this a go but ended up killing two disks (somehow).
  19. I got 30 disks in my server, 26 of them are mechanical drives. One of them has its head skipping back and forth when I am browsing my nas shares. Pool reports health as fine (RAIDZ2), files are intact. SMART data of all disks are fine, self tests complete just fine, nothing that alerts me. Hence why I am even creating this thread. Its annoying the shit out of me every time I launch jellyfin I have to listen this shit.

  21. you can use or presentmon https://github.com/GameTechDev/PresentMon As far as benchmark goes, i solely use 3dmark for testing overclocks and benchmarking.
  22. If I have my pfsense constantly ping my wireguard server (with 200ms latency) web pages feels like they load faster. Initial access doesnt take as long. I dont get it, is this an MTU issue?

  23. If its USB powered, then all it matters it the voltage input and output capabilities of the charger. I am not sure if a dinky charger that can output 1 to 2 amps can power a monitor.
  24. I live on 6th floor and my full atx home server went through one 6.0mw eq just fine. It will take a LOT more even for an full atx case to topple. Keep backups of your backups offsite (preferably on the cloud) and you are fine.
