  1. I'm a menace. I found how to delete the information on the SSD and now I'm reinstalling Windows on it. Wish me luck y'all...
  2. I just had this thread where I learned I had to update my BIOS so it would recognize my SSD and then I could put Windows on that. I was all set, in Windows on the SSD looking at partitions in Disk Manager and things were going smoothly. I then decided, stupidly I guess, to put the back panel on my PC while it was running. There's some wires on the back and as soon as I did this the monitor displayed a black screen with just the cursor. The PC then restarted and is now showing the "please enter a boot device and press a key" DOS screen. Idk what the fuck happened but when I go into the BIOS it says I have an SSD, but I currently cannot load Windows to that SSD since I had just done that and it doesn't display as an available drive when I enter the Windows boot USB. I'm seriously at a loss. I literally had Windows running on my PC and everything was good, but now it won't work. The SSD is still seated, I've completely detached the HDDs that I had because I don't need them right now and everything else with my system seems to be working fine. I just can't access the SSD now and boot into Windows.
  3. I updated the BIOS and now Windows 10 is installing on my SSD!!! This is by far the techiest I've ever gotten with my computer software-wise and it's pretty cool. Hopefully going forward I won't have as shitty of a computer. Thanks @emosun
  4. Alright, fun update. I switched the SSD to the other NVME slot which was a huge pain in the ass, and it's now showing no drive at all! So at least it was reading something the first time! SSD now reseated in its original NVME slot. I pressed F11 with the Windows USB removed and I'm in the UEFI menu, but have no clue what to do from here. It recognizes that I have an SSD installed. I found this to update my BIOS: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450m Pro4/#BIOS Currently I'm on UEFI version B450M Pro4 P3.90 and the most recent update is 5.30. Does anyone know any guides for updating BIOS?
  5. My GPU does have hardware faults but there's no way I'm going to be able to get a replacement so she's just going to have to do her best. I read around a bit about the B450M Pro4 motherboard and someone else on Reddit had the same problem. I reseated the SSD in the M.2 Ultra (so fancy) slot and tried again and it's still showing that the available drive is 128mb (I have a picture this time). There's a second NVME slot on the motherboard, so I'm going to give that a try. If that doesn't work I'll try to do the bios update you suggested.
  6. Here's a better spec list from a previous post of mine: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor GPU: XFX Radeon R9 380 4 GB Double Dissipation Video Card [Existing GPU originally purchased April 2016] Motherboard: ASRock B450M PRO4 Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory Storage:Silicon Power 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 2280 Case: Deepcool MATREXX 50 ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA G5 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
  7. Hi, I need help with my PC because it totals around $900 and it's pretty much unusable. Last summer I followed an LTT guide ($900 AMD Ryzen, links posted below) and despite having to buy a few things that weren't identical to the guide, I more or less have the PC in that build. I used my old GPU because I felt that $350 was too much for an RTX 2060 (they now sell for $600 second hand on Amazon), so I've got an old Radeon R9 380 basic bitch edition with no RGB or flashy "Sapphire" naming to it. My old PC was plagued with green screen crashes, hence my username, so I took the GPU apart and replaced the crusty ass thermal paste with some fresh paste. I have still had it green screen on me once or twice, but it's not as often as it used to be. I installed Windows on a new 1TB HDD because that's what was available when I was installing it. Turns out my PC just isn't reading that I have an SSD installed and I don't really know why. When I run my PC off the Windows ono the HDD it's super slow and unresponsive. It won't let me open Steam and even struggles with opening the Windows menu to get to control panel. When I unplug the HDDs and the SSD is the only drive connected it tells me I only have 128mb available and I can't install it. Maybe my SSD is broken? I don't really know. Attached are some pics from my R9 380's surgery. Sidenote: if anyone knows how to make a signature that you can put on posts where you have your build's info on there, please share how cause that would make posting in the forums so much easier. People ask what my build has and I'm just like idk man it's a computer... Thanks. Here's my build with anything bolded being a component that I couldn't buy at the time, so I bought something comparable. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: AMD Radeon R9 380 (it's not the Sapphire or anything special, just two fans and no lights) Motherboard: ASROCK B450M Pro4 RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G5, 80 Plus Gold 650W Storage: Silicon Power 1TB NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen3x4 2280 TLC R/W up to 3,400/3,000MB/s SSD I also have a couple HDDs I think both are 1TB, idk one is from my old PC and the other was free so I threw it in cause why not. Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
  8. If I have that and a bunch of games on my HDD is there a way to transfer them to the SSD within my system?
  9. Ok, some details about the PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Radeon R9 380
  10. Hi, I have a computer that I built last summer, and I've had a lot of issues with it being slow. I have a Ryzen CPU and I think I'm running my OS off of a 1tb hard drive, which will be a bit slower. I have two 512gb SSDs but I can't seem to get Windows to install on them, even when they're the only memory option in the computer. I booted it up just now and I can't even open anything to see what my CPU usage is or anything like that. Idk what the f I'm doing. Can anyone help? Or at least chat so you can either make fun of my terrible computer making skills or commiserate with me and my $700+ glass and metal box.
  11. Thank you! Searching HDMI/Display port switch came up with nothing. I found plenty of options by using that name. I greatly appreciate it. Have a good weekend!
  12. I've been looking around for switches to change peripherals from one PC to another. I recently got a work from home setup with two monitors that connect to my work PC via HDMI and Display Port (one style per monitor). I have a gaming computer that can output to HDMI and DP as well, and was looking for a hub/switch that I could connect the monitors to, and then hook both PCs up to. That way I won't have to manually unplug the cords from my work PC and into my gaming PC, and vise versa. I own an HDMI splitter that can switch between 3 HDMI inputs into 1 HDMI out, and you just press a button to switch between the HDMI channels. I was hoping there would be a similar device out there for the scenario I laid out above. Additionally, I now have a nice mouse and keyboard and am interested in a similar hub/switch for USB to easily switch between either PC. I have seen USB hubs that appear to match what I'm looking for, but I've been struggling to find an HDMI/DP splitter. Any help is greatly appreciated. (Also if I need to repost in Monitors, just let me know)
  13. Thank you. I'll give the Heaven Benchmark a try and see what it brings back about my system.
  14. Hey everyone, A few months back I made this post and the community here helped me out a lot with picking new parts to upgrade my computer with. I'll list below my computer's current specs. The issue is that I've had my computer green screen on me twice now. Once while watching YouTube full screen, and just now while playing FFXII Zodiac Age. I've played around 20 hours of this game with the new computer without issue, but these two green screen incidents have happened within the past two weeks. Does anyone know of any software that can identify what is causing this with my computer? I imagine my GPU is overheating, but that's just a barely educated guess. As with last time, any help is greatly appreciated.
