    Did you download the correct version of JDK? I believe they have both 32 and 64 bit versions, at least had until Java 8 JDK. With Java 11 JDK they just have one single version per platform now. https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

    I agree. I've been using Intellij Community Edition on my 2013 MacbookPro for a couple of years now without any issues.

    Which IDE did you install? I've been using IntellijIDEA Community Edition for a long time now and have never had such issues.
