  1. Yep, still only a 1 sec power up. I have 4 sticks. Tried every configuration possible (even single stick, tried every slot). Cleared CMOS as well
  2. Pretty sure it's either the mobo or CPU that is dead. Symptom is the system powers on for 1 second (fans spin, lights up, but no video signal, no beeps - pretty sure the mobo speaker doesn't work). So, to test the cpu, I can just breadboard build the mobo, cpu, cpu heatsink fan and psu, correct? If it still only powers on for 1 sec, then I remove CPU cable, and it stays powered on, that means the CPU is faulty right? But if removing the CPU cable and it still only powers for 1 sec, then it is the mobo that is dead? But it does power on all fans I plug in so I assume the mobo is fine. Or am I doing it wrong and need to put in some RAM or?? I am sure the PSU is good (tried 3 different known working PSUs with correct cables). Unfortunately I do not have another compatible mobo or CPU to check with.
  3. Got better info on the pre built. PSU, mobo and RAM were slightly better quality than I thought, but unfortunately the 2080 is actually a Asus Turbo, which is a single fan blower card (mid tower ATX case, Phanteks P400) and not founders edition like I thought, so might not cool/OC as well, and I hear the turbo also gets loud. For my needs I shouldn't need to work the GPU too hard. Still get it? Any chance a better AIB 2070 could OC faster than this Asus Turbo 2080 OC'd? (More FPS). Or are both overkill for my needs and I can get away with a 2060 or 1660Ti and save a couple-few hundred?
  4. Alright, just found out streaming with nvenc or quicksync will prevent the CPU taxing that I was primarily concerned about. I need a PC now, so the pre built is what I will probably get. Anxious for the new AMD releases though.
  5. Thanks! Warranties should be good still (3 year Cyberpower warranty). The guy I would get it from has the receipt and is willing to help if anything goes wrong with it.
  6. TLDR; which build for streaming and video editing? 1080p or 1440p Ultra 144Hz, but might go 240Hz. No dips below 60 FPS. $1200 used - i7 8700K, Asus Turbo RTX 2080 (single fan blower style), 1TB SSD SATA, Geil 16GB 2400MHz RAM, no brand (cyberpower?) 800w 80+ Gold PSU, MSI Z370 A-Pro mobo OR what new self build up to $1500? Better CPU, RAM with cheaper GPU? AMD? __________________________ Which for streaming and video editing? (Twitch/YT) So it needs to handle running recording software (OBS, El Gato) or running multiple background apps while streaming and still getting decent frames gaming (not below 60 FPS). Will only game at 1080p or maybe 1440p 144Hz, on high-ultra settings. May get a 240Hz monitor tho. I can get a legit good deal on a 2 month old pre built for only $1200 i7 8700k, Asus Turbo RTX 2080 (single fan blower style), 1TB SSD (SATA), Geil 16GB 2400MHz RAM, off brand (cyberpower?) 800w 80+ Gold PSU, MSI Z370 A-Pro mobo Good deal for the 2080, I know, but is that set up (8700k, 2400 MHz RAM) good enough for streaming/editing? Or am I better off with a better CPU, RAM and cheaper GPU? I think a 2060 would still get enough frames? Was thinking i9 9900k and RTX 2060, but that would end up at least $1600 and still likely need to put more into cooling the i9. I've never used AMD before or know much about their parts, but I am open to using them. Ryzen 2700x or Threadripper? Don't know much about their GPUs price to performance vs Nvidia cards. I'm leaning toward the used build then resell it or upgrade parts later when Ryzen releases Navi, 3000 series CPUs, etc., if they are as good and cheap as they are hyped up to be. Guess my budget is around $1500, but saving would be nice. Mainly care about stream quality, and bearable framerates, and can deal with bit slower workflow of editing process. I'm in the US. Don't care about looks (RGB, matching colors, etc). Mainly play R6 Siege and ARMA 3, but will get into most trending titles soon. Editing software still not sure between Vegas or Premiere. I do know how to build my own PC, but not too knowledgeable on all these new parts, specs, benchmarks, etc. so just looking for build suggestions
