  1. Hi everyone, I just purchased a Gigabyte Aorus B550 Pro AC and Ryzen 9 5900X from microcenter. I installed everything no problem, then noticed my fants are running at a very high speed when idle. I checked core temp, and it showed my idle temps were upwards of 55 degrees. I checked HWinfo, and it reports my idle core temps are at a much more managable 37 degrees. Ryzen master has the temperature somewhere in the middle, but closer to HWinfo for sure. In hardware info, I can see that my motherboard is reporting the same temps as Core Temp is. It seems to me that this motherboard has its own CPU sensor near the socket that would be reporting a higher temperature than the actual cores. I attached screenshots of the HWinfo data. This wouldnt be a huge issue, but my fan curve set in the bios is determined by the Motherboards CPU temperature readings, so it gets quite loud quite fast, even with a Noctua NH-D15 installed. I have checked the mounting pressure of my CPU cooler, I reseated it already and it is on there tight. I am not entirely sure how to resolve this issue, any help would be really appreciated!
  2. Now that you mention it, I actually did basically just loosely place the IO shield into the new case and secure it with usb devices that I plugged in because it wouldn’t pop into place. Wow if this ends up being the issue I’m gonna be pissed at myself lol.
  3. Hey everyone. My PC keeps crashing. There is no BSoD, no error code upon the crash, it just goes to a black screen and performs a complete reboot. This happens completely randomly. It is not just when gaming. It has happened while gaming, browsing email, shopping, and watching youtube. This is what "WhoCrashed" says the issue is: `On Tue 2/16/2021 9:49:07 PM your computer crashed or a problem was reported` `crash dump file: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP` `This was probably caused by the following module:` `nvlddmkm.sys` `(0xFFFFF8022C3EDB16)` `Bugcheck code: 0x50 (0xFFFFB2ED63A9C708, 0x0, 0xFFFFF8022C3EDB16, 0x2)` `Error:` `PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA` `file path: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_3621da861144492b\nvlddmkm.sys` `product:` `NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 461.40` `company:` `NVIDIA Corporation` `description: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 461.40` `Bug check description: This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced.` `This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.` `A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 461.40 , NVIDIA Corporation).` `Google query:` `nvlddmkm.sys NVIDIA Corporation PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA` This is what I've tried so far: Uninstalling graphics drivers with DDU and reinstalling Running Windows memory diagostic tool (No issues found) Completely disabling XMP profile Checking all power cables including unplugging and re-plugging all cables I just reverted from 461.40 to 461.09, but part of the problem is that this happens completely randomly. It could be 10 hours between crashes or just a couple minutes. I recently moved all my components into a brand new case and reinstalled Windows 10. I was not having this issue before I performed this switch into a new case. Here are my system specs: Intel Core i7-9700k (removed overclock for troubleshooting) EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB 3200mhz Asus Prime Z370-A Corsair RM850 Power Supply 512GB XPG nvme drive (Boot drive) 2TB Seagate baracuda HDD (This is also new. Installed this with the case) Again, the system was working perfectly fine before I moved the PC to a new case and reinstalled Windows 10. My next steps were going to be seeing if rolliong back the driver resolves the issue. If it does not, I will test with 1 stick of RAM each. If the problem persists I assume it is either a dead video card or a bad power supply. Have any of you experienced this issue? Did you come up with a solution? I've read some people with similar issues after a google search, but I've done all the troubleshooting steps that they have and haven't had any luck. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you!
  4. We haven't tried disabling freesync. I'll give that a go next. The previous owner of the GPU said he didnt have any flickering issues, but of course he could be lying lol
  5. Unfortunately, after about 20 minutes, it flickered again. looks like that was a one time thing. I think it's either got to do with the surge protector hes using (because it is very old) or the electrical wiring in his apartment. That or the power delivery in the monitor itself is broken
  6. It seemed like it was working fine at 60, but we switched to 144 afterwards pretty quickly so it could have been a fluke honestly. I honestly don't know how to read event viewer so i havent tried that but thats definitely a great place to start! I appreciate the suggestion We actually used DDU again and just let windows install the drivers for us instead of going to AMD's website and so far so good. been about 15 mins without a flicker!
  7. Hey everyone, my buddy is having a little trouble with his new PC build. Whenever he starts playing a game at 144hz, his primary 144hz monitor will occasionaly go black for 1 or 2 seconds then pop back on. He can still hear sound and everything, and his secondary, 60hz monitor does not flicker off. We have tried the following: Upping the fan speed on his graphics card to keep it cooler. Re seating and re plugging in the graphics card and power cord Changing the cable (We have tried 2 different HDMI and Displayport cables each) Used DDU to uninstall and re install graphics drivers Tried running at 120hz, no luck Plugged the PC and monitor into different wall sockets Tried different HDMI ports on graphics card My current thought is that it must be something wrong with the monitor's power settings itself, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any solutions? Any and all recommendations are appreciated! Thank you! His monitor is the AOC C24G1. His graphics card is an XFX RX 580
  8. Hey everyone, My buddy built his first pc, but when we went to enable the XMP profile on his 16gb of Ballistix LT Sport 3200Mhz RAM, it will not go past 2933Mhz. I have verified that the sticks are in the correct dimm slots, I've upped the voltage to 1.4, I've enabled XMP 2.0 profile 1 and set the speed to DDR4-3200 (Although there is a greyed out "DDR4-2933" next to it that i'm curious about), I've tried to put it at just 3000mhz to see if that would work. I'm out of ideas. Does anyone happen to know what the problem is? Could it be that I need a higher quality set of RAM? The model number of the kit he has is BLS2K8G4D32AESB The specs are as follows: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Mobo: Asrock B450M Pro4 RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 PC4-25600 GPU: RX 580 Any and all suggestions are appreciated!
  9. Hi everyone, I'm about to buy a Ryzen 5 2600X and Gigabyte Aorus X370 Gaming K5 off of someone from reddit, and I had a question about the timestamp he sent me. I was wondering why, in CPU-Z, it says the link width and max supported PCIe lanes is x8 and not x16. I think it could be because it appears he might have other PCIe cards installed in the lower slots, but I just cannot tell for sure. I'll attach the timestamps below, let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
