    Thanks for the feedback
I may have watched too much OLED/LED review, that "burn-in" phrase is probably an earworm in my mind

The cost though, for USD1848 which cost more than RTX 4090, is a really hard pill to swallow
I would absolutely love to roast the setup for Desktop PC with RTX 4090 and this "Dasung" monitor for gaming at superb 15 FPS (assuming it would do at rated 15Hz refresh rate)

Everyone who starts to write a fanfic but ultimately abandons the project because of self esteem issues should totally get one of these!

For real tho, for text processing this thing would be a life saver. If they could refine it a bit more like a Kindle I could see it becoming commonplace in offices and such.

The burn-in every time scrolling while browsing though, is really noticeable

Probably useful for someone who likes to read a lot, but don't wanna do it on Kindle

RoseLuck462 reacted to TheRealVaiden in The LMG response - a media relations analysis
Let's talk reframing, us against the Community and disappearing CEOs.

Looking at the first wave of responses it is clear that LMG faces challenges conveying a clear, coherent message. Both in an ad-hoc and (surprisingly) scripted forms.

We can all agree that the initial Linus post was horrendous (as admitted by LMG itself) and the video released later presented a fragmented, contradicting, buffet of statements.

A literal bunch of talking "heads" is a big no-no, so for the next video, it is very clear that LMG has spent time consulting with (or even commissioning) someone with a crysis management background.

In this light, the post hiatus video is crysis response 101. A textbook example.

The proposition: when a proof of an immediate remedy is unattainable, the next best thing to offer to the public is a promise of a process. In some cases it is even the first choice. A process buys time to the company. It reframes the conversation and breaks down future responses into fragmented conversation that each can be better managed.

And ooh boy did we get a "process". Here is a promise of a process, and a diagram of one, and a video of a process being undertaken, and graphs and numbers and timelines and KPIs. LMG is busy busy busy.

This is not a judgmental statement but rather a factual one.

Reframing the conversation: the next part of the message presents a new entity called "the Community". There was never a GamersNexus or a Madison or mislead viewers. The Community acted and LMG now reacts. No need to go into specific details, no need to argue points. This is in stark contrast to before the alleged consultation, where LMG has refered to Madison by name.

This is a very popular trick used by red handed politicians and corporates alike. A Community is an abstract figure. It has no face. It has both bad and good actors, and it allows us to play on the "it's us against them" notion. We can easily play the victim of the Community without the need to actually argue points with anyone specific.

Again - no judgement here. Believe me.

Up until this point LMG has followed the brief diligently. So much so that when LMG diviates, it all breaks at the seams. Let's look at two eye-pokers.

"We are all here for you" is clearly the core of the message. Unifying, generic, trust inducing. But leading up to it by promising employee churn and hinting of layoffs? Really? This LMG doing LMG again.

And then there is the disappearing leader. Has LMG wanted to get Mr. Tong in front of a green screen, it would have. The technology is available wherever in the world he currently is.

Hiding Tarren is a deliberate decision. This is not because he is "off site".

What is your take on the communication relations lessons to be learnt here?

    The graphs are misleading.

You don't know how many video cards were sold, just that it's more than 300 for each brand, over the course of 2 years.  Sapphire being OEM for AMD makes lots of models, and that 2.9% could be out of 10k cards sold, while the Inno3D could be 500 cards sold.  Same for Gigabyte and XFX ... Asrock doesn't surprise me because they're intentionally going for budget cards cutting corners with their Challenger models and wouldn't surprise me if they got returns for Asrock cards based on Intel cards, before they improved the firmware.

Also, those are failures over 24 months - a card could be returned as failed for a non functioning fan for example, in 2 years anything could happen.

Graph on the right is also misleading, it's just duration ... not SATISFACTORY result.  Could be just Asrock saying "user error, reject warranty claim" and it's considered in that graph as 1-2 day reply.

    Summary
OCBC, the second biggest bank in Southeast Asia, started rolling out a feature that scans user devices for third-party apps. They supposedly only flag apps with "risky permission settings"

    My thoughts
I feel that this is massive overreach on the bank's part. Being a user of F-Droid and a fan of FOSS (which often don't publish apps on Google Play), this does seemingly put me at risk of being unable to use my phone for internet banking - which is especially frightening with the bank's recent move towards using their mobile app as a digital token for verification of identity. Furthermore, OCBC's position as a major bank in Southeast Asia makes me fear that more banks will start adopting such practices.

GN has published, both on yt and on their website, a video explaining their policies for why and when they do or don't contact a company for comment before publishing a video. Among other things.
Much of the criticism, from even Linus himself, was about publishing without first "reaching out". It was deemed unethical, or not real "journalism" by Dr. Ian Cutress even. This was his main gripe with them iirc.

It didn't seem unfair to me to not contact LTT for the original video, and in the HW News vid they did they explained. But here it is in much more detail and with historical examples of how, when and why they choose to either contact or not contact a company for comment. This being Dr. Cutress of Techtechpotato's main problem with the exposé also led to many people declaring that GN does not do "real investigative journalism".

I'm not a journalist, and GN sprinkling opinions throughout their video I can understand as criticism. But what's you opinion on GNs practices?

The LANs I've been to, people generally brought their own PCs and peripherals.

You'd need to provide an internet connection, power and network cables to each table and the underlying infrastructure (such as many many switches). Speaking of power: Routing many power cables might need some form of official signing off on it (e.g. "not a fire hazard").

You probably also need to provide (or rent) some form of catering at the location and maybe some space to chill out. Possibly security?

Might want to talk to people who organized such an event before, because networking can be a pain if you haven't planned it out. Ideally you want it to be so that people get assigned a place where they can set up their stuff, plug in (power + network) and are ready to go.

There’s probably a topic covering this and I’m breaking rules by posting this.  I’ve been watching ltt for over a decade and only now made a forum account to say this and probably won’t post again.

People make mistakes.  Companies make mistakes.  I don’t know you Linus but even though I’m sure who you show us isn’t 100% who you are as a person I know you’re not a bad guy.  I’m happy GN did their piece but I also knew that you would take it constructively.

You guys are THE tech news of YouTube but you also represent the heart of tech.  You’re tech enthusiasm with the money to do all the cool stuff we wish we could try just because… why the f not.

I can’t wait to see you guys grow from this experience.

Running a company is hard.  And your company, by its nature, is very public facing.  That means any missteps you make are major mistakes whereas most companies it would be a small internal issue that needs to be remedied but wouldn’t cause any significant damage to your revenue.

When I first heard what happened I was shocked, but knew you guys would take the right steps to fix the issue.  And you haven’t disappointed.

So I guess this post is just to say thank you for standing by your morals.  I wish more companies would act the way you guys do when the mess up.

I haven’t bought anything from you guys yet but I might just have to pick up a screwdriver or two.

Thanks for the years of entertainment, I hope there’s years more to come.

You're effort to "fall on the sword" is commendable, no doubt. But you're leaning too far on that sword. Let me explain.   Here's the deal: You got caught in an unfortunate situation—you put out a piece that was not entirely unbiased. Simultaneously, someone also came out with some unsavory remarks about company culture.   On behalf of the community (and we'll know because they will like this post), it's OK, Linus! We do not come to LTT for perfection, we come, first and foremost, because we like you and the team you have built. We come, secondly, for your content, which is 98% stellar. Are there mistakes? Of course. Is your workplace 100% cohesive? Probably not! But it's damn close, from what we see.   No organization, channel, enterprise, or group will be won easily. But you have won us over with your history of accuracy, interest, humor, lightheartness, and poise. We know you have made great strides to redress the wrongs presented, and we commend you. But, as a business owner and long-time fan, let me offer a quick piece of advice:   You may think that the problem is within your control under the current structure, Linus. It is not. The problem, as far as I can tell, is quite the opposite; it's the lack of you. You are the lifeblood of YouTube tech content. You grew so fast and so far, and during that time you (perhaps unknowingly) fell into the shadows of the juggernaut you built. Predictably, the ship you set to sail left port without a captain. The reason? It's not because you were too present, but because you were no longer on board. Your new CEO seems wonderful, but you, LINUS, are the man who connects to the supporters. If Linus sees a video and deems it worthy, your supporters follow suit. We trust YOU. Thank god for labs, thank god for production, and thank god for the writers. They all play a worthy part. But this is your show. We are here for you. We trust you as the one who can consume information and process it into digestible, useful bites. It's a lot of pressure, but it's the role you were made for (apart from loving Ivan and the kids).   Therefore, as a supporter (and also an exacting lawyer), I have but one piece of advice: take control of your ship before it becomes a comedy of corporate errors. You are at the helm, and there is no captain under which we would rather sail.   As the boys of "Dead Poets Society" said, "Oh Captain, my Captain!"   Also, plz bring back junkyard wars.   Sincerely, JDW

RoseLuck462 reacted to Senzelian in Ford BlueCruise is now only available as a monthly subscription
    Summary
Ford's autonomous Level 2+ self driving tech called "BlueCruise" is now only available for new cars through a subscription. BlueCruise used to be offered as a one time purchase at the moment of purchasing the car. The hardware necessary for BlueCruise would then be installed into the car. If BlueCruise was not chosen as an option it would not be possible anymore to later upgrade the car.

Now Ford announced that they will install the necessary hardware in most new cars as standard. You can now either purchase a subscription at the time of purchasing the car or upgrade to a BlueCruise subscription later down the road.

As a owner of a Ford car this saddens me. I was hoping that they might not jump onto the same bandwagon as BMW and other car manufacturers.
Also what happens when Ford decides that this version of BlueCruise is obsolete and they discontinue it? Will they unlock it for everyone or tell customers to buy a new car?
Either way I'm not liking this...

This news might impact those who bought the steam deck to use as a switch emulator and also game preservation. The real question is, would this have any affect in combating piracy anyway? Since denuvo will get cracked eventually.

And I rather think it would be the wrong vehicle to do that anyway.  In short, I dont expect one but would be happy to be wrong.
