RoseLuck462 reacted to BachChain in Half a Terabyte straight to your GPU - PCIe 7.0 Announced
    Summary

Despite PCIe 5 just now gaining traction, the PCI Special Interest Group is continuing to forge ahead, with today's announcement of version 7 of their Peripheral Component Interconnect express standard. Continuing the historic trend of each generation doubling the speed of the previous, PCIe 7 tops out at 128 GT/s over 6's 64 GT/s. This translates to a 16x connection being capable of sending 512 GB/s in both directions. Additional features include better power efficiency, improved reliability, and lower latency. While the spec has been announced, it's not planned to be formally released until 2025.

More more is more better, but with the current adoption rate trends and diminishing returns in the consumer space, it's possible that manufacturers just won't bother for most PC's.

The improvements doesn't look that much significant compared to the snapdragon, I'll wait for the reviews to come out first.

No way this will be abused at all. If it only needs a minute of audio what's to stop someone from using it to mimic a person who is still alive's voice?

That's the thing with these ai voice systems at the moment.  The training voice is the person reading a consent agreement. can't do that with dead people.

The first thought that rolled into my mind when reading that headline was "holy **** that's creepy". Then i remembered LTT's video on AI voice synthesizing and that put my nerves at ease. While it seems like a cool idea i doubt today's tech can replicate a human's voice accurately, let alone with just 60 seconds of reference audio. If Amazon does somehow accomplish accurate voice synthesizing i believe this can be kind of a dangerous tool to be in the hands of anyone with an Echo.

i really do recommend readding the reddit thread, they are NOT happy about this.
i would not be suspirsed if the big minecraft servers (e.g hivemc) disable this due to how flawed the system is.
users that do jack all could be randomly banned with barely any appeal preventing them to join even private servers.

    now thats not fair.

For me mouse and headet must be wireless, the keyboard I don't care since it never moves, I wouldn't want to have to deal with batteries for that.

Obviously wireless headset needs to be something dedicated and not bluetooth, i.e. a "gaming" headset.

I've been contemplating these as well, seems like a good idea but just don't think I'd be in situations where they're useful all too often anymore (used to before covid...)

This seems to be one, came across it on an auction site here...

Tried posting this in the retro forum and got told it isn't old enough yet. So it's coming here instead.
I bought my dads old gaming computer off him for 50 dollars. So I opened it up today to see what was inside (definitely a lot of dust though. Yuk). He built it himself about 9 years ago, at least it was all compatible. Ignore all the dust, haven't given it the clean it needs/deserves. What should I turn this computer into?

Will definitely be checking this out. I remember being a beta tester for AOL 4.0 way back in the day...maybe in middle school? Which means that AOL 3.whatever was my intro to America Online. It's fun to see how much of what we take for granted on the internet today actually had its roots in the old AOL programs that everyone's forgotten about.

    1. One developer, a Canadian named Zip
    2. Back end (aolserver) coded in Python
    3. 1,500+ Discord users in the 1st week
    4. Huge exposure on reddit, hackernews, twitter, etc.

But we've yet to be covered by a big YouTuber. A major YouTuber did try to sign on while we were undergoing maintenance, so that was embarrassing.

Mostly I'd just like feedback from you guys. If you'd like to play around with AOL 3.0 in 2022 come check us out. I won't link anything to be tactful but you can probably Google "AOL Reverse Engineered"

RoseLuck462 reacted to AitoShi in QuantumTV & The Act Man Youtube drama
It's crazy to me that The Act Man has basically been deplatformed from YouTube, while a hateful, lying, doxing, family threatening, ToS violating, copyright abuser, report abuser, ban evader, whose whole use of the platform seems to be attacking other creators, silencing any critics of his hot takes, scams, spreading his hate and conspiracy theories is having the last laugh. It's already scary how far this guy will go, it makes me wonder who he'll target next and how much further he'll go.

I guess The Act Man called YouTube out too loudly.

I get both sides are a bit low brow for LMG, but just because something is messy, doesn't mean it's ok and it's not good for YT creators across the board.
It now actually bothers me this doesn't get a mention on Tech Linked or something. Maybe there are legal ramifications or LMG is afraid of YT, idk.

    Edit
Nevermind downvote brigading, YT just greenlit false report brigading on its platform.
