  1. On a side note, is anyone annoyed by how Linus continues to complain about the quality of joysticks? I hope ASUS doesn't listen to him because no one cares that much about the joysticks. My brother once bout the GuliKit kingkong Switch controller that Linus reviewed. Linus did not like the joysticks He says "Think they could have a little less friction around the edge". When my brother received his we both came to the conclusion that Linus didn't push in the joysticks all the way and isn't a real gamer. Those joysticks had no friction at all. i worry about the things Linus says that will influence the manufacturers. like when he use to say that the bezels on screens were too big. And now its just like: who was asking for that? it didn't matter to the average consumer or gamer. It might have mattered if the average consumer bought multiple smaller screens, but ultrawide monitors were the better option. There's no reason why the bezels on my ultrawide are so small.
  2. Three years ago when I bought the Asus motherboard for my desktop computer I filled out a survey for ASUS. The topic was their new line of laptops and what features I would want them to have. As I scrolled through the list of options I selected "Other" and wrote "docking port for use with external graphics cards" because USB-C alone wouldn't be as fast or robust. About 9 months later I was surprised to se their new line of laptops with their custom Docking port and I was happy that they took my answers to heart. Although I was slightly disappointed that it was released about 3 months after I bought ASUS Stix G15 laptop. I am happy to see that they continue to us this concept for other products. It would be cool if all their gaming laptops came with that port as standard. Maybe I'll finally have a reason to buy one of their products with a Docking port.
  3. ok, I have tested Minecraft and Minecraft runs fine, but I cant listen to YouTube while playing Minecraft or YouTube will sound extremely choppy. Is it possible for the GPU to bottleneck the CPU? Because my GPU tends to jump between 0% ant 100% utilization idle while my CPU stays 4% and 20% utilization.
  4. my motherboard BIOS is vesion 4002 which isn't very old, but there are updates. I doubt it has anything to do with the BIOS because the motherboard is newer than the graphics card. I am also hesitant because just this past December my previous motherboard bricked itself with a BIOS update so I had to replace it with the version with a BIOS flash button. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/TUF-Gaming/TUF-GAMING-X570-PRO-WI-FI/HelpDesk_BIOS/
  5. I gave it a shot, and so far it seems to be ok, but the audio seems to glitch in videos and I haven't tried any games yet. I remember having a driver in the past that had glitchy audio and would freeze, but I think it was still able restart by itself. i hope this one doesn't do the same thing.
  6. I realized that you cant use the AMD Radeon software with older drivers.
  7. I changed to an old driver, and the problem isn't completely solved but I don't think my computer will freeze like it did anymore. Instead the programs crash. I would much rather have the programs crash I have to reset my computer every time it freezes.
  8. Now that you mentioned it, I think I might know an easier way by using device manager. If I click update drivers and manually pick the driver that I wan to use I could probably save a lot of trouble. I have had to do this for some really old USB devices. I also remember seeing a folder somewhere on my computer with 12 backups of the AMD Radeon stuff totaling 30GB, so maybe I might find the driver I want in there. Otherwise I can just download it off the AMD website. When I first got my Graphics card on windows 7 I had to use the driver from the provided CD and update it through every version before it would work properly. Thankfully I didn’t have that problem when I upgraded to windows 10.
  9. You could create a small partition on your hard drive around 100GB to test windows 10 before you completely delete everything. You don’t need to have a windows 10 key to test it out if you don’t have one. It usually gives you a 30 day free trial before it starts going crazy about the key. Just go into partition manager and shrink the your current volume to free up some space, Then create a new one so that the windows 10 installer will know where to put it. Then when you go to install windows 10, pick the new partition as the installation volume. Otherwise if I’m wrong it will just require that 100GB of free space to create its own volumes.
  10. I Tested software on my new laptop then it seems to run just fine with no issues. My laptop is the ASUS ROG STRIX G15 G513Q
  11. I also recommend to try running your applications directly on you GPU instead on the CPU. the fallowing links can help with that if you are unfamiliar. https://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/force-app-to-use-dedicated-gpu-windows/#:~:text=With NVIDIA%2C it's really easy&text=Return to your desktop.,run using your dedicated GPU. https://support.wacom.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500006265741-How-to-enable-a-specified-application-to-run-with-the-NVIDIA-graphics-processor
  12. 60 degrees doesn't seem like a lot however I usually put my fan curve to reach 100% at 40 degrees. I saw you mentioned your 3D mark score. What is the score of the equivalent computer? I noticed you are running windows 11. From what I have seen windows 11 is a lot like Mac and I never plan to upgrade to windows 11. If know Mac, games don't run very well on Mac. It is very likely the drivers for your graphics GPU in windows 11 are not quite as good as the drivers for your GPU in Windows 10. It is also very possible that windows 11 has tons of processes that are running in the background and windows hasn't quite optimized them for your processor. How poorly is your computer performing? Can you quantify it? If it's not two terrible if it isn't too terrible then I wouldn't worry about it as long as it functions and does all the tasks that you needed to do. I am currently working on a much more complicated issue where are my computer will freeze so quickly that it can't even blue screen to give me the error codes or dump files that would help me diagnose it. It is also possible that the 3080 TI founders edition doesn't run as well as some of the other 3080Ti. some of those scores can overclocked systems too. I suggest these websites to compare performance of different cards. https://versus.com/en/asus-rog-strix-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-gaming-oc-vs-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-ti https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-3080-ti.c3735 https://gpucomparison.org/compare/evga-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-ftw3-ultra-gaming/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-founders-edition/
  13. Now that I think about it I have had issues in multiple instances where different applications will randomly become corrupted. for instance Forza had to be uninstalled and reinstalled however I believe that was directly after a power outage. since then I have bought a new UPS to protect my computer from power outages, but I noticed recently but discord discovered that it had corrupted files. I have used the Samsung magician to verify that my hard drives are just fine. It could very well be that it is a symptom of having to reset my computer after it freezes.
  14. It looks like I can't rollback my drivers. I know that my GPU it's not bad, however I am tired of dealing with crappy AMD drivers for the RX 580. It has been a problem since day one and I don't have the patience for it anymore. Although it may be awhile before I upgrade, I am very disappointed in the drivers that I have installed over the years. I don't 100% blame AMD for this problem though because they have no way of detecting it and it is very specific to 3D applications. Most of my games seem to run just fine. If I do eventually upgrade I'll probably switch to the NVidia 3000 series however I will miss easy access to settings that AMD has put in place. Again I do not plan on upgrading soon because those graphics cards are expensive, especially if I want a good one. I do remember sometime back in July of 2021 or August when all of the drivers seem to work just fine but with new updates every month it's hard to keep track. In my experience with the 3070 in my new laptop I have no issues with the drivers, however I will try the same 3D applications just to make sure that it isn't the applications. I remember around a year ago Windows 10 released a feature update that for some reason had the bug of randomly making the screen go black but it still let you move your mouse. I'm pretty sure that was a windows thing, because the same thing happened to my dad's work computer after he updated it. that problem went away after another update. The more I learn about hardware software and drivers the less the problems make sense.
  15. I figured it was probably the graphics card, but I assumed it was because of the brand that I have. I had to go through so many different drivers when I first got the card a couple years ago and it seems like there have always been problems. It was rare to find a driver that worked without issues. As much as I like like the idea of my sapphire nitro+ special edition. In practice it isn’t that great. I just want to be sure that this is probably what is causing the problem before I mistakenly replace the wrong thing. If that is true than it’s what I get for doing a budget build. It is still weird to me though that it would cause caps lock and num lock to stop working on the keyboard. I would think that has nothing to do with the processor.
