  1. VMWare adds a couple of lines to your %windir%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts Try commenting them out and check if the issue presists.
  2. Don't just migrate data over, redo the structure.
  3. You get asked for your password after sleep? Is the PC domain joined?
  4. With SMB Shares you can enable for it to be moved to the users trash bin if you can control the client. You can do snapshots and backups. Currently I don't know of any way to get them to be moved to a trash bin instead.
  5. I hope you mean SFTP not FTP.... I too would advise you to switch to nextcloud.
  6. A firewall filteres traffic by ports. DNS resolves names. You can only get around DNS filtering that way. The firewall could easily block 53/tcp/udp for you to stop you from doing it.
  7. If you need a permanent swap location the best methode would be to set up a file share on the host system and simply access it from the VM. Otherwise you could create a .vhdx, mount it on the host, put your files there, dismount it, mount it to the VM....
  8. BitLocker is a pretty big plus on laptops, but I doubt that's the reason here ?
  9. Judging by the video (which is hard) they should lower the speed after post. That sounds like the inital calibration state. But no. Servers are loud, that's why you put them in server rooms.
  10. Please elaborate the setup. Are you trying to build a cloud backup provider or are you in a company looking for cloud backup and the users within the same network are required to check the backup?
  11. And prohibit you from opening any internal ressources. DNS doesn't affect download speed.
  12. Wouldn't it be wiser to simply rent a Wordpress instance somewhere like AWS, Google, Azure, DigitalOcean etc? That way it's scalable, you can turn it off and safe money when you don't need it. You don't have to buy hardware etc. You can create different development so you can test different solutions at the same time.
  13. Yes, IIRC nextcloud even offers official apps and owncloud has inofficial apps. You could use that to sync it to the device easily.
  14. I have yet to try this but the question remains: why? Just create a virtual disk and put it on. That way you can easily move it later without taking the VM down, you can place other vhdx on the same drive, etc.
  15. On your screenshot check the second row of text Owner: System Change > Search for your AD User
  16. VLOOKUP or INDEX and MATCH will work. Use INDEX and MATCH since VLOOKUP assumes an ascending order and does a binary search. If it finds a value which is greater than your search term it will fall back and use the last value. https://support.office.com/en-us/article/look-up-values-in-a-list-of-data-c249efc5-5847-4329-bfee-ecffead5ef88
  17. Opening those ports to the world is a nice way of getting your data stolen. You could set up owncloud/nextcloud to share.
  18. Depending on your raid controller you can increase and decrease the volume without taking it down. IIRC at least HP SmartArray controllers can do that.
  19. According to the manual the APs shouldn't be further apart than 10 meters for mesh support. Take that as you will.
  20. IIRC the life span of Dell servers are 7 years. After that you can't even buy support anymore.
  21. I concur. telnet smtp.gmail.com 587 should work. If it doesn't the outgoing port is probably blocked or filtered.

    Homelab Vlans

No. If you can configure 2 interfaces independently on your router you can use untagged ports on your switch to connect both VLANs to your router. Otherwise you can set up a VM router seperating the two networks.
  23. You are not accounting for the Header which is 20 bytes. Unless I am missing something tcp wise it should be (4000+20x)/250=x OR 4000/(250-30)=x hence x=17,39 So the solution should be 18 fragments?
