  1. Works great with Nvidia under Windows. I've read otherwise, but I'll give it a try with another cable.
  2. Of course I learned that this was not a thing after shelling out $800 CAD (including taxes) on an RX 7800 XT. Before retuning this card to Amazon, can anyone point to a working DP to HDMI 2.1 that would correct this (if this is a thing and not a myth)? Finally, some people say that FreeSync won't work with such a solution, why is that?
  3. There are people on YouTube saying that the upcoming 8000 series will be cheaper than the current 7000 series with better performance. So should I pull the trigger on an RX 78000 XT or wait?
  4. A lot of discussions on the Resident Evil Revelations Steam forums (they removed it from that game because it the heavily impacted the performance), here's my post about it: https://steamcommunity.com/app/222480/discussions/0/6852856365571853244/
  5. Don't you need to be connected with HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120Hz?
  6. https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/samsung-55-4k-uhd-hdr-qled-smart-tv-qn55q70cafxzc-2023-only-at-best-buy/16698727 The specs say 120Hz, but I've been told to be careful with these when it comes to gaming.
  7. Well assuming doesn't get you really far in life. I'm old enough that I remember when Swiss Chalet and Red Lobster were in Quebec. Swiss Chalet closed it's restaurants in Quebec because they couldn't make a dent in St-Hubert market (ironically, Swiss Chalet's parent company now owns St-Hubert), I recall all of the news feed on TV because I use to love going to Swiss Chalet as a kid. Red Lobster just weren't profitable in Quebec period, guess we're not that big into seafood (https://www.shlr.org/le-red-lobster-na-fait-que-passer-a-vanier-et-au-quebec/). Canada is a freaking huge country and different areas will have different people meaning different tastes meaning different markets. Companies who don't do proper market research will learn the hard way that their business is not needed in certain markets. Hell, Target Canada is considered one of the biggest market research failure ever made, they couldn't make it work in any Canadian markets .
  8. These restaurants that you mentioned, they have stated that they are boycotting Quebec, meaning you can source this?
  9. You clearly never check because there's 2 official languages in Canada, English and French and anyone with a government job in Ottawa is required to know both, end of story. Exactly what can't I buy in Quebec that I can in the rest of Canada?
  10. I downloaded files which didn't really have virus, but Windows Defender didn't have the same opinion as I did and flag them. Turned out that I didn't need these files after all, so I deleted them, but Windows Defender still thinks there are there. Running a full machine scan didn't change anything. I tried deleting the scan history folder's content, but I get a "Folder Denied Access" error. Tried deleting via command and powershell, same deal. How can I get rid of this crap?
  11. Like I posted earlier, I also tried POP OS and had other issues. Not sure I want to waste anymore time on Linux for the moment.
  12. Well, I just finished playing with POP OS. While it cleared all visual issues including the slowdown in Big Picture mode, it introduced a new issue, my 8BitDo Pro 2 gamepad didn't work in any game unless I disabled Steam Input, which is totally unacceptable in my book. Guess I'll wait for Steam to release their own Steam OS for PC (the one for Steam Deck, not their old Steam machine versions) instead of trying a bunch of current Linux distros and wasting my time.
  13. OK, strange thing. I had the latest official driver (pic1), so I tried the opened source driver (pic2) and Steam just refused to load (stuck in the splash screen). I then reverted back to the same official drivers and now the game runs at 60 FPS.... but without Vsync, so the screen is tearing a lot. With no manual 3D setting with the Nvidia drivers for Linux, I've googled for a solution, but the only one I found did not work. Any ideas?
  14. AMD has native drivers for linux and it's common knowledge and games run better on linux with a Radeon card. Also, Little Witch Nobeta is Steam Deck certified (I have a Steam Deck and played the game) and ProtonDB gives it a gold checkmark: https://www.protondb.com/app/1049890?device=steamDeck
  15. I decided to give Linux Mint (Cinnamon Edition 21.2) a try after all of these years and installed Steam afterwards. After activating the compatibility option, I downloaded my favorite game, configured everything to max settings 4K as I always in windows 10 (running a 3070) and the game ran at 24FPS. At max settings on Windows, it normally runs at 60FPS. Hell, just operating in Steam Big Picture mode was slow in Linux. Oh and I'm not running a recent AAA title, I'm running an indie game called "Little Witch Nobeta".
  16. What is the equivalent of a 3070 on the AMD side (want to game in 4K at 60FPS)? Cheers
  17. At the rate it's going, think we'll be able to purchase am 8TB SSD for under $400 CAD next year?
  18. That video was a nice appetiser, but I'm still waiting for the main course.
  19. Well, it's past midnight in Montreal.
