    3x3 Video wall for Gaming

Gamming wall built for use with SoftTH
  3. Also a resolution of 5760*3240 is not something you can buy yet. Man with experience. Here is my current layout ATI on top nVidia center bottom Onboard + Display port out from GTX I was able to remove the GTX 560 and GT 620 and replace with an ATI 7770 and 2 Active Display port to DVI adapters. This config is producing up to 110 FPS with Low load tests and most games playable at 30 FPS with Medium settings. I have attached some random screenshots that were small enough to upload.
  4. I own an MSI 970 and you would have to pry it from my cold dead hands, I ignore marketing spin and focus on real world performance. I play old games such as GTA SAMP and iRacing at 60 FPS at Ultra 5k (SoftTH Video wall) with high to max setting running 2x or 4x AA and AF. Even games like Skyrim are playable at 5k on medium settings. If nVidia want to give me a free game cool other wise meh, This card blew my expectations away and I know it will serve me for many years. Right or wrong the card is amazing and even with this I will still continue to recommend the GTX 970
  5. A few years back I was able to resurrect a 15 year mobile old asphalt factory running 16 bit software via a com port using dosbox on a 64 bit CPU. If its impossible to port your software and devices to a Virtual Machine then its in the companies best interest to phase out such systems. However these days practically everything can be run in a virtual server on newer hardware. And in my role as a support tech having mixed OSes is frustrating especially since the user often has no idea what an OS is let alone it variety. I am looking forward to a uniform eco system from Microsoft.
  6. I would never pay for a ram drive and if your computer does not suck the gains are often marginal gains in most games. I use IMDisk to create a ram drive for free, it can write to Physical memory for speed or write to an image file for persisantce, also a image file and be preloaded before use, or cached as it used. Then use Symbolic links to point the to the ram drive from an existing location. http://www.ltr-data.se/opencode.html/ http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa363878(v=vs.85).aspx Personally I use raided HDD and am happy with the performance, however if your running steam games from a USB drive I can see the advantage for a ram drive otherwise this is a gimmick.
  7. Six was only a stepping stone. Now I have nine. The next stage is removing the bezels and creating a custom mount for them all. This will take me some time as I'm having too much fun with them all on swinging arms.
  8. Now I'm looking good, still need that top row

Huge Gammig Experiance Built on the Cheap
  11. Video Work in progress all monitors need replacing and another 970 or two and row added to return to 16:9 ratio. Screens are 4x 21.5" wide 2x 19" 4:3 When complete monitors will will have their bezels removed and installed in a purpose built cabinet. At the moment I'm running on mixed GPU's and using SoftTH to create the large surface. When i raise enough cash I will use common GPU's and create a single 3x3 nVidia surround hopefully. In the mean time I plan to purchase USB3 to DVI display port adapters to add the last row. So far the Single 970 has handled up to 5760x2160 with grace. I'm still experimenting and would appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

  13. I found a 12 GB/s drive the ultrastar ssd800mh you would need a MegaRAID SAS 9361-4i to get the full speed, but this wiki thread about SAS stats they are backward compatible with sata. But thats alot of money for a drive you cant use at its potential.
  14. My understanding is the K versions are often from better quality manufacturing plants even if you don't want overclock I must agree with the crowd. From experience my 2600k clock for clock was a better chip than my current 3770 non K but in saying that, I still push the 3770 to 4.2 (40x105) without drama. Can really argue with Paralectics point too if you have no interest in tweaking it the real world gains are not there but personally I would not buy another non K myself.
