farzher got a reaction from AtelopusZetteki in portable desktop gaming monitor?
i found this random 4 year old video of a portable 27" monitor. i assume it's only 60hz. but are we all sure something like this doesn't exist at like 120hz?
i think i'll find it if i look hard enough

userbenchmark is invaluable. i could give countless examples of how useful it is.
but uh yeah, safe to say the tech community is very against the biased people running the site. especially after what just happened with the 7600x userbenchmark

maybe this is a perfect project for the new ltt labs full time software developer to work on?
maybe the community could make an alternative ourselves?

i run userbenchmark on all my computers and all my friends computers. the relative performance percentile is so good.
shows you if your ram is slower than it should be (probably forgot to enable xmp)
shows you how much performance you could gain by overclocking your specific gpu / cpu
shows you if your ssd is slower than it should be. in my case it turned out i had it plugged into a sata 2 port for years!
when your friend says "my laptop is too slow, pls help" i have them run userbenchmark and notice the cpu is running at 0.6GHz. probably the fan is broken or full of lint.
    etc.

psu went into my luggage. motherboard was simply wrapped in a shirt and stuffed in my backpack. same with the gpu. worked perfectly

something interesting i've slowly realized over time by procrastinating on getting a case for years now and wanted to share.
i'm not talking about building your own case out of wood or cardboard or a testbench or whatever.
i mean literally just put your motherboard on your desk.

    pros:
free: $0 simple: easy to build "in". i swap out my interal m.2 drive as easily as a usb drive. performance: optimal air flow. can cheap out on cooling. zero case fans required. i'm running a big overclock on a tiny quiet cooler. tiny: smallest form factor possible. easily portable. i traveled on a plane with my gaming desktop in my personal bag, which also had my laptop, and other stuff. easy to clean: dust surprisingly isn't an issue. maybe because it can easily escape. i haven't cleaned it in 4 years, dust just falls to the floor or something.
      cons:
unsafe: don't let the cat on your desk.
i never considered this a real option. but now i'd do it again for sure.

some photos of my computer in different setups over the past few years:

    my most relevant notes:

performance is terrible for me. frametimes are whack.
why doesn't putting all graphics to low make the game run well? ...

    no ranked 2v2.
    no ranked team slayer.
the only ranked game mode is 4v4 with a random game type.
forces me to play oddball too often.

takes way too long to rank up. sometimes rating doesn't go up when you win, or down when you lose. doesn't make sense. doesn't feel like wins/losses matter.

controllers are still aimbots. BUT you can now choose to queue vs: keyboard/mouse players only, or controllers only, or crossplay. pretty neat

just run the userbenchmark.com benchmark and it'll tell you exactly how well your hardware is and should be performing

personally, userbenchmark.com is my favorite way to solve that problem.

run their benchmark and post your results. it'll tell you exactly how well your hardware is performing relative to people with the same hardware

farzher got a reaction from Miguel Batista in Why are most people here saying never to buy a 1060 3GB
    I decided to get it
    I just bought the 1060 3gb for 153$
    it's like 1$ per fps
I think it'll also keep the best resell value, so I can trade it in for a small loss when I want to upgrade again.  now that's futureproofing
