  1. Ok H2OBurner. I'll be doing that all tomorrow anyway when I install the loop so fingers crossed that's all it is.
  2. Hi everyone, Ok so as the title says, I think my card is screwed. It's the Asus Strix 1080ti and was bought around August last year. I have the EK kit for the card for which I have installed it onto it once but then during the build process I found out I forgot some bits to complete the loop so I put the stock cooler back on. Until a few weeks back, the most work the card did was rendering in Premier Pro but I've got back into The Division recently and I am starting to see artifacts but only on the top 3rd of my screen. They are green and red (if it makes a difference but I don't think it does) I have everything for the custom loop now and was wondering could it be that I didn't re seat the thermal pads correctly that could be causing this? Don't really want to put this all together for the issue to remain but also know that I won't know if it will remain until I do put it all together. Any help and advice would be great. Cheers
  3. Hi, I've just reset my HP Omen laptop to factory settings as I'm selling it but what I didn't do before hand was format the storage drive that's also in the laptop. Will the reset have formatted that as well as the boot disk? Don't really want to have to go through the setup process to check Cheers
  4. That's what I was thinking. Thank you for clarifying my thoughts everyone. Now, onto the build
  5. Hi everyone, Have a question on how I should order my loop. This is my 1st customer loop so want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly. I have a 280 & 240mm rad as this is what the config on EK's site recommended cooling the cpu and gpu. So should the order be res-pump-rad1-gpu-cpu-rad2 or res-pump-gpu-rad1-cpu-rad2 or some other combination? After the gpu should I go into the 280mm rad and the cpu into the 240mm rad?? All help greatly appreciated.
  6. Have done all of that and nothings working. Not going to take it apart as I've seen a teardown video on YT and he broke the drive due to how it's designed. Doubt the recovery software will work due to Windows not even seeing the drive but will give it a shot.
  7. Hi, I have a Seagate Backup Plus Desk Hub 8TB that seems to have failed. Windows is not recognising the device and in the Device Manager it's showing up in there saying Unknown USB Device (Set Address Failed). Seagate have advised that they will need to replace under warranty (it's only 7mths old) but I need to get the data recovered from it 1st and provide a record that this has been done. Now obviously there's a charge top this which I am finding to be a very disgusting customer service experience when it's not even my fault that the drive has failed but as the charge is there looks like I need to pay it. There's photo's on there from 2006 for which there is no back up since 2010. Ironically, this weekend I was going to be building a dedicated storage server and moving all the info from this drive to that server. If only it could've lasted another week. My question is though, with Windows not recognising the drive, is there any software/hardware out there that will recover this for me for a fraction of the cost Seagate or 3rd party companies will charge?
  8. Cheers scottyseng. Will give that a shot once I build it.
  9. Yeah got all the parts, just waiting for a cpu cooler to be delivered and then I can build it. Was wanting to go full server to keep what I am learning at college fresh and also to have a play around.
  10. Probably not explaining it right. Esentially, the 2 already setup pc's I have, I want to make sure I don't have to install all the programs again when I add them to the domain with the new user details
  11. Hi, Bit of a newbie when it comes to servers etc etc. Have been wanting to setup a storage/plex server for a while now and have a question that I can't seem to find the answer for. I already have 2 pc's fully setup and being used and want to set a proper network up using Server 2016 (seen as I can get it for free from college) and my question is, once I have set the server up, how would I go ahead on the existing PC's attaching them to the new network/server without having to set them all back up again?
  12. Well in the process of removing the CPU from the tray it's come out of the holder and damaged pins on the motherboard. Time to start again.
  13. Hi everyone, Currently stumped on why my system won't turn on. I've just built it over the past 2 days with the following specs: CPU: AMD Threadripper 1950x Motherboard: Asus Zenith Extreme X399 PSU: Corsair AX860 RAM: 64gb G-Skill 3200mb DDR4 (8 * 8gb sticks CAS 14) The RGB lights on the motherboard light up along with the on board power/reset lights but all the other LED indicators stay blank. I know the ones next to the 2 CPU 8 pins work as I have turned the PSU on without them plugged in and they lit up. The GPU LED (Asus Strix GTX 970 being used until a 1080ti is delivered during the coming week) lights up white but was red when I disconnected the PCI-e power cable. Have also tried with 1 ram stick in Wondering if the CPU is damaged or the lanes around it as I did have to put a lot more force onto the board than I would've liked to get the No.1 screw to screw in. The no 2 & 3 aren't screwed in as they won't reach. Or could it be because of 2 & 3 not being screwed in. Not really wanting to touch this bit as it took nearly 3 hours just to get the 1st to catch so it could screw in. Have seen others posts regarding this as well. Any suggestions?
  14. Hi everyone, This is starting to annoy me now. Networking is probably the weakest part of my pc knowledge but I've never had an issue with any version of Windows till now. Just rebuilt my machines and they both got fresh copies of Win 10 Pro. The anniversary update has also been completed. When I 1st set them up I could access either PC without issue but I've gone and changed the PC's names so I knew which was which (Games & Media is what I have used) and now Games can see Media but can't access it. Media can access Games though. The settings are identical on each. Even Homegroup won't work. Even turned off Kaspersky which had no effect. What could I have changed to cause this?
