So yesterday I got the first coat of iron paint on the steel parts. Will put the second coat on today and apply the first coat of bronze on the fans (not looking forward to that, lol).
Also applied the final coat of copper on the coolers and ram, then sprayed them with the "magic sauce" Patina corrosion spray. The following pics are progressive shots of the effects from about 1 hour after spraying to about 7-8 hours after spraying. Now I need to seal them with matte clear coat to stop the corrosion and lock-in the appearance. The cool thing about this is it's not fake. It's actual corroded copper.

I wish people were going less for the blink of Extreme and more for the robust overclocking potential of the Apex.
Delidded and watercooled i9 7900X can handle just about anything and it's single threaded performance is very good, esp. if you can OC it to 4.8-5Ghz.
Rampage VI Extreme, while by no means a bad mobo, was always advertised as a "showpiece" flagship motherboard. The Apex was advertised as rock stable for overclocking and top overclockers have confirmed it's benefits in that regard.

7900X is the absolute minimum for X299 imo. 7940X could potentially be a rather nice option if you want more cores.
Zero reason to consider anything lower than a 7900X.
Should ditch the Extreme for the Apex too.
