Imagine if regular GPUs (the big bois, not pleb garbage) didn't need 8 pin or 6 pin power.

 

Just succ it all from the slot.

    First thought to my head, expensive motherboards.

    So instead of plugging the 8 and 6pin to the graphics card you plug it into the motherboard. What does that change? 

     

    I like a dual GPU connected with infinity fabric though if it behaves like one big boi gpu.

    @FloRolfThe 8P and 6P are not needed at all from what I gather. Instead they are used for other add in cards that aren't contained within Mac Pro Expansion (MPX) modules. MPX modules succ all power from the slot, regular GPUs just use PCIe add-in power.
