  1. Hey all, hoping to find some guidance on how to deal with a particular issue I've been facing.

    Here's a video of what's happening:

    https://imgur.com/F7oDU0T

Basically my computer doesn't always boot properly. Sometimes it boots fine, sometimes it only reaches the "Press F2 or Del" post screen but stays there indefinitely. And sometimes this happens.

    Here's the hardware I'm using:

    Ryzen 3950x

    Asus B450 ITX

    Timetec 32gb 3200mhz ram

    Corsair SF600

    GT710 GPU (just for testing)

    Custom water cooling loop

How would I go about diagnosing where the issue is? Do I just send every component in for an RMA? Halp!

    Thanks!

  2. i just wish wasd did DSA keycaps then i could maybe get the keyscaps i need

+1 For this. I'd like a low profile custom keyset from them, as low as the leopold ones.

DSA is a SP specific standard replicating older style keycaps so don't expect that to happen.

SP should definitely have a custom printing service like wasd.

  3. Yep, agreed 100%! ;)  Maybe I should check the shop I usually go to for such key caps, they look simply awesome!

I can share the SVG file I sent to wasdkeyboards.com so that other people can have their own set printed. For $47 for a tenkeyless and $50 for a full set, they seem to be a pretty fair deal, considering that you have full control over what is printed on the keycaps.

  4. Officially joining the Mech KB Club!

Mine's a portal-themed Vortex Race 2 75% keyboard with Cherry MX Browns and white backlighting:

Number Keys, Tab, Caps Lock, Shift and Win key are portal-themed.

The keycaps were custom printed from wasdkeyboards.com. Since the layout of the Race 2 is non-standard, I had to sacrifice the modifier keys (Ctrl, Win, Alt) to have the arrow keys + the right shift and end printed. To compensate for that, I replaced them with some MKC metal modifiers from banggood.com.

You'll see that I also have a set of metal WASD keycaps made from MKC, also from banggood.com.

  5. you don't plug stuff into your CPU... you plug it into the motherboard ..

Well from where I come from, we call the case + everything in it the CPU. If you're referring to the processor, then indeed, we can't plug stuff to that (god, did you really think I'm stupid enough to think that I should plug stuff to the processor)

Anyway, enough with the technicalities please. This doesn't really contribute to the topic at hand.

  6. http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-keyboard-nighthawk-x8-blue-backlit-mechanical-keyboard.html

This one is pretty much the same as the ASUS Echelon that was posted above. Again, no dedicated audio buttons (Fn + F key combos) but you can program easier to use combos with autohotkey. I have a Ducky and programmed Windows key + End to play/pause, Win + Del to go back and Win + PgDn to go to next song.

Wow this one's good. I'll have a check if it's available locally.

  7. then why not just buy a good mech keyboard and use ur headphone and mouse cable like normal lol ?. but sure if you want no one is stopping you

Because I use my mouse and my headphones on my laptop as well, and I don't want to go down to my CPU everytime I want to detach them from my desktop. At least with passthroughs, everything is neat, tidy and accessible because it's connected to the keyboard. Imagine having just the single keyboard cable running from your CPU to your desk instead of having one for the keyboard, one for the mouse, and one for the earphones.

  8. I'll need to stew on if there's a keyboard exactly like the one you want.

The Logitech G710+ is everything you want, except it's not compact at all.

Yeah, I don't think that one has USB and/or audio passthrough.

  9. Hey Guys, I'm looking into getting a mechanical keyboard to replace my SS Apex Raw one.

A quick list of things i'm looking for:

    1. Compact - One gripe I had with the Apex is that it's big. With or without numpad is fine

    2. Has backlight - I really really like backlight on my keyboards since I like typing in the dark. White is good for me, but programmable ones are okay too.

    3. Silent - I don't want to get too loud. Browns are okay.

    and the most important features:

    4. USB Hub - So I can reduce cable clutter by plugging my mouse to the keyboard

    5. Audio passthrough - again, audio clutter. Plus I hate having to reach to my CPU to plug in headphones

    6. Media controls - I don't like alt-tabbing to change the volume

So far, here are my choices:

Steelseries 7G - has USB, audio, and is compact, but no backlight!

BlackWidow Tournament - Nice and compact, but no backlight, usb, or audio!

Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth - I guess this is my best bet, but I don't like green backlight plus I don't have a use for macro keys anyway.

  10. I'm planning on creating my own case out of acrylic, and with that i'll be upgrading my rig to haswell as well (haswell - h + space = as well. LOL)

    Anyway, first, a parts list:

    Asus Impact ROG board

    i7 4670k

    Evga 780 Ti ACX

    2 sticks 8gb 1300 ram

    1 ssd, 1 laptop-size hdd

    SIlverstone SFX PSU 450w gold

    For watercooling:

Impact AIO waterblock (EK or Bitspower)

Full 780 ti waterblock (open for suggestions)

Most compact Pump + Res I can find (open for suggestions)

    240mm xflow rad

So my questions for this build:

    1. I plan on overclocking, how much would you think I can squeeze out of the CPU and GPU with a 450w PSU? And no, I have no plans of changing the PSU because I want to be as SFF as I can. around 4ghz would be my target.

    2. Given said overclocking limits beacuse of PSU, will a 240mm rad be enough for the both of them? My secondary option would be to add a 2nd 240mm rad in this configuration:

    PumpRes -> GPU -> Rad -> CPU -> Rad -> PumpRes

    3. Given that I'll be watercooling my GPU, would the ACX version be a good choice over the reference version or are they virtually the same card with different coolers? Would you suggest a different card instead? 780 Ti's avaliable locally are the Palit, Zotac, Inno3d, MSI, and EVGA ones.
