  1. I have a strange problem that I have not been able to figure out. When playing BFV, my calculated mouse sensitivity is slower than it should be (12in 360 distance hipfire). After a lot of trial and error I have finally found two ways to correct this... Either turn my mouse polling rate down to 125hz (Deathadder chroma) OR turn BFV priority down to Low. I have also found that playing in the test range by myself, the discrepancy is only about 1 inch. When playing a conquest match with 64 players in the middle of a capture site, the discrepancy is closer to 4 inches. Running MSI Afterburner shows GPU usage 90-99% and CPU usage 85-99% during a match. This does not change whether i use high, normal, or low priority for BFV.. though I do get a 10-15fps drop using low priority. I have tried lowering and raising graphic settings in BFV which had no effect My system: i7 6700k @ 4.7ghz GTX 1080 16gb ram asus maximus hero VIII EVGA supernova g2 850w psu I have only noticed this problem when playing Battlefield V. Other FPS titles have no issue with mouse speed, regardless of priority or mouse polling rate. However, CPU usage is never in the 90s like in BFV. I have not tried other battlefield titles. Also, this did not occur when BFV was first released.. The game worked perfectly on my system, though I never did check CPU usage at the time (never felt the need). I took a break from the game for awhile, reformatted/installed windows onto an NVME SSD, and came back to the game after the firestorm update, which is when I first noticed the problem. I have only found 1 other random reddit thread with someone suggesting lowering the mouse polling rate. Is it abnormal for the CPU to be running at such a high usage? Has anyone else experienced high cpu usage turning into slow mouse input? Could this be related to a BFV update, or even something I did when I reinstalled windows onto a new NVME SSD? Again, my PC and mouse work great in any other game I play (PUBG, Apex, Vermintide 2, planetside 2 to name a few) It is annoying, but at least I can fix it by dropping my mouse polling rate to 125hz. I would just prefer to figure out why I am having this issue and hopefully correct it. Appreciate any thoughts you may have
  2. I recently bought the asus pg279q (IPS panel) but actually had a hard time deciding on that over the pg278q (TN panel). I originally purchased the TN panel to save the $100, and it was a great monitor. The only time I could tell the difference in color "accuracy" was when I had the TN and IPS panels sitting next to each other in the store. If I only looked at one at a time, they both looked great. One thing I have noticed, the IPS blacks are darker.. But sometimes too dark. I have trouble seeing details in dark games at times. I suppose that could be adjusted with ingame settings.. I browse tftcentral to read reviews on monitors, and both the colors and input response time were nearly the same on these two monitors. So why did I go with the IPS? Well, this was my first time using a 27in 1440p monitor, and it was actually large enough that "poor" Tn viewing angles actually played a factor. I would be lounging, watching Netflix, and notice the top inch or so of my screen was darkened/colors distorted. so I returned it and payed the $100 difference to get the IPS version and it has been awesome. Of course it is a top line monitor, but it has all the stats of a "gaming" TN panel, including very low input lag (even lower than the TN version based on tftcentral). I guess in the end I wouldnt pick IPS vs TN, but based on features and price. The color difference is noticeable when directly comparing, but otherwise you will enjoy either. I think refresh rate is much more important.
  3. In my humble opinion, yes Its IPS, 1440p, 144-165hz, low input lag. It also has a minor but awesome feature of instantly turning on (no splash logo) which I enjoy more than I thought I would. The only other monitor I was seriously considering was the ASUS pg348q ultrawide. However, I wanted a >100Hz monitor for FPS games, and my frames would be even lower with that increased resolution. However, I am sure that would be a much more immersive monitor. Also quite a bit more expensive, which was another factor. Maybe in a year or so I will get that one hehe
  4. I just got the ASUS PG279Q a couple months ago and absolutely love it. I think both monitors you posted are best of the best as far as 1440p IPS displays go so you cant go wrong. Just some notes after reading the pros/cons list above.. I do have some IPS glow on my lower right corner, however it is only noticeable when I go looking for it (find a completely black background to inspect my monitor) I also dont use 100% brightness because that is way to straining on my eyes.. I use 30 It does in fact overclock to 165Hz, however even with my GTX 1080, I struggle to hit 144fps (granted thats with high settings). I get ~90fps in witcher 3, 120fps in Doom, and ~140fps in BF1. It was definitely NOT a selling point for me, since I dont think I can personally see the difference between 144 and 165, let alone get the fps to make use of that refresh rate. The monitor is absolutely amazing though, and I do not regret any part of my purchase. Its so hard to go back to 1080p monitors now!
  5. I wish they would tone down 3D spotting. I dont know why but it seems more prevalent in BF1 than older battlefield titles. The game is beautiful and immersive, and it also has a lot of effects (gas grenades, smoke grenades, dust, weather) that affect vision.. but it gets ruined by spotting someone and just shooting at their icon. And how frustrating is it to be in "cover" behind smoke or inclement weather and be lit up by the enemy because you were spotted. It just seems out of place in this game
  6. Hello everyone, I just finished my new build: asus maximus viii hero i7 6700k evga gtx 1080 16gb ram evga 650 supernova p2 psu when I first power on my system, I get a warning that a power surge was detected and warns me to change my psu. I've read various sites that asus' power surge detection warning is too sensitive and some people just turn it off. Well when I restart my computer after the warning it boots into Windows just fine, and with a couple days of use (internet browsing and gaming) I have had 0 issues. But every time I turn my computer on from a cold start, it detects a power surge. The evga 650w psu also makes a loud click sound when first turning on, and occasionally when loading into Windows (at least I think it's coming from the psu), but I have no idea of the significance of that. I happened to have an evga 850w G2 so I threw that into my new build, but got the same exact warning. I find it hard to believe 2 evga psu's could be faulty. The only other oddity of the build is the delay between pressing my power button and the computer to actually turn on, it seems like it's a full second before anything starts to happen. Could it be a problem with the case/front IO (corsair 750d), or even the motherboard?
  7. Here is where I am at currently http://pcpartpicker.com/list/cnjvf8 1. I could still use some advice regarding CPU coolers. corsair H100, 105, 110, 115.. I cant seem to tell a real difference besides price. I havent even started looking into other brands of AIOs, so I am sure there are many more options. Or should I keep it simple with a NH-U14s? Possibly the NH-D15s, I would just have to make sure it fits in the case. Another option I was looking at was the cryorig H5. I plan to overclock, but nothing crazy.. so Im not sure how much I actually need water cooling? Aesthetics dont matter to me 2. ASUS has treated me well in the past, so I plan to stick with their motherboards, but can anyone tell me what the difference would be between these two boards? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132565 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4S84R41021&cm_re=asus_z170_pro_gaming-_-13-132-877-_-Product One is considerably cheaper, but if the maximus hero has some special features, I dont mind the price increase. They both seem to have the improved audio with headphone amp. Would they have comparable overclocking potential? I noticed the maximus viii has a dedicated water pump connector listed in the specs sheet, I assume you can use an AIO with the other board as well though? I appreciate the advice!
  8. Ok so I am thinking of going with a single 1080 first, and will add a second one later if I am hungry for more FPS. I am still trying to decide between 750w and 850w PSU, if I want to overclock and run SLI Doing some reading, it sounds like the AIO water coolers arent that much better than high end air coolers? I like the hassle free heat sinks, and noctua has been good to me in the past. It has been hard for me to find actual numbers comparing water cooling with air cooling, but I keep reading that they may perform similarly? Noise doesnt bother me, so I am open to AIO water cooling, as long as its worth the added cost. Seems the Corsair H100i is the most popular, but is it the best option? Otherwise I was looking at the NH-U14s.
  9. Hello everyone! I am excited to be building another PC and wanted some input. I am rewarding myself for a number of recent accomplishments, so I am splurging a little bit (although not to the point of ridiculous) and my budget is flexible I have thrown together a very quick list, but it is by no means complete or finalized.. I really just picked the first on the list in a few cases. Mainly just wanted a starting point http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Br3hgL Now, my main gift to myself is actually a new Asus 34" ultrawide monitor, but I realize I need a pretty powerful PC to run that resolution at 100fps. Since I am going to be building a fairly beastly computer, I wanted to ask for advice regarding gtx 1080 single or SLI? Do you think its overkill, or would there be enough benefit to enjoy? Do I need more than 750w PSU if I am going to run SLI? Another question I had is about the AIO water coolers. I have no experience at all with water cooling so I started to research the AIOs but read that many people prefer standard air cooling. any comments or suggestions? I am not ready for a full custom water cooling setup at this time. If not an AIO solution, then are there any CPU heat sinks that stand above the rest? I am open to any and all suggestions, if there are any other improvements you can think of! thanks
  10. holy cow, 60" at 4" from the wall?? That would make using a projector so much easier!
  11. I bought both guild wars 2 and eso a couple months ago. I don't regret either purchase. GW2 is as casual an mmo can get, max level/best gear is not that hard to obtain. ESO I have played less, but it has more depth as far as I can see. You should watch some of the cyrodill pvp videos (angryjoe has one.. It's great) because I believe that Is where most of the fun is had. since there is no subscription I feel it's worth playing. Ps never played an elder scrolls game before, so I'm not comparing it to anything.
  12. I have an i7 920 @3.8ghz with a gtx 770 and get 70-80fps with medium/high settings at 1080p, for what it's worth
  13. Thanks for the input! This is a little picky, but the asus laptops are incredibly bulky, and while I'm not looking for super slim ultrabook size, I do want it to fit in my backpack (or desk haha). Otherwise those options are great How do you guys feel about sager? More options to choose from and a bit cheaper, but ive never heard of them before
  14. I'm looking for a laptop that can be used for school and of course gaming . At first I was decided on a Lenovo, but they don't have any models with the gtx970m currently. I have only seen Asus, Msi, and sager offer the gtx 970/980 in their laptops. I know Lenovo has the reputation for build quality, but would it be better to get the newer generation gpu? I haven't decided 15 vs 17 inch screen yet, but I do want it to have an SSD, backlit keyboard, and an Intel cpu. Price range is ~$1500 but I'll go over if I have to. Any thoughts/suggestions?
  15. Hello everybody, I wanted some advice/solutions for a lan setup. We currently have 4 computers up and running, but I wanted some ideas to make the setup even sweeter. I was thinking about putting a TV up in the room and somehow broadcasting the PCs to the TV so others could watch the action. Ideally I would like to have all 4 pcs able to broadcast to the TV (not all at once, just the ability to). If I was going to have just one PC able to show on the TV I could just run an HDMI cable to it, but was hoping for something a little more. Is there anything that can allow me to do that? Also, are there any other suggestions/additions to make a solid lan setup? It doesn't have to be absolutely necessary haha. Also I don't have a budget in mind yet because I am unaware of the costs of these things. Just the planning stage at the moment
