Hi this is my first post here!
About a year and a half ago I built my first computer and I have been for the most part very satisfied with it.
A couple of weeks ago I started experiencing an issue where the computer would randomly stop outputting a signal to the monitor and also stop responding to any type of input including attempts to turn the PC off manually using the external power button. The only solution is to manually reset by switching the switch on the power supply. It doesn't seem like anything is overloading because this issue happens most often when the computer is idle. I have been trying to fix this issue on my own for a while but have had no luck..
Here a list of the things I have tried:
Using several different cables to connect the monitor (2 hdmi, 1 display to hdmi)
switching out my gtx 1060 with the gtx 1050 ti from my sister PC
making sure all the internal cables are plugged in properly

I am starting to get very worried I depend a lot on this computer for school and its also my main source of entertainment. Do y'all think there is any way this could some type of software issue? I'm concerned it might be an issue with the motherboard.. I have the money to replace it but doing so would be tough on me financially as I am currently student who does not have a lot of money.
If anyone has any further insight into what might be wrong or the steps to fix the issue your help would be greatly appreciated.
