  1. 2160p ultrawide is more characters than 5120x2160, I guess seeing 8 digits at once is scary to non-tech people, but that's really the way to do it, any other will be more confusing. Glorious screen, I'd love to have one.
  2. I have memory of pretty much the same news from years ago(maybe about the plan to do so, which is now becoming true?) and my opinion is similar to what it was back then - EU just doesn't want to be entirely dependent on other countries with its microprocessors. Even though the chance is low, if for whatever reason we get cut from foreign supply, that'd be as shitty situation as it can be, having even small manufacturing capabilities with fabs that are behind the worldwide top, that's still a much better start and a guarantee of some capacity for crucial infrastructure devices.
  3. That's good to hear DBrand is doing this for the memes, even if that PC is utilised, I'd assume the screens just get split between 3 people. Would be cool if you get the photo of this setup in their office though.
  4. Iirc on one of the WAN shows they had the discussion about cancellations in other fields but Linus concluded they have a lot of long term content and most likely nothing to get cancelled from so they're keeping it. When it comes to local copies I think it's clear he has the mind of a data hoarder too.
  5. I am actually curious how much of the pc sales decline was due to actual decline, and how much was because Intel's 7th gen i5 wasn't much better than 2nd gen one, and both are enough for your average web browsing even today. Laptops on the other hand did progress much more, not to mention they are just much less reliable making you have to replace it more often.
  6. A user on twitter. I have no idea about that user, but when Sony's account on twitter posts something, you can be sure it's them, even if it was posted by a *twitter account*. I will also add that being two or more generations after ampere is still technically 'after Ampere'. My feel on MCM news regarding GPUs was that it is the future, but not a near one, so I am expecting some kind of transformation period, maybe even two types of archs at once at some point.
  7. That's not really what he meant. Our gov assumes that if you regularly purchase goods and sell them with the aim to profit, you should create a company, you can hope not to get caught, or swallow the pill and pay taxes that companies pay. What's more, even as a private person, if you sell something sooner than 6 months you need to fill the tax form at the end of the year, you get ~$750 profit tax free, then 18% until you earn $20k and 32% later(that is info from a quick research and something my friend complained about before, I do not sell shit I owned for less than 6 months). The thing I think is a rule everywhere, you do not want to fuck with the tax office. Edit: But I didn't mention, we totally have people who buy stuff cheap and immediately sell for more, like everywhere.
  8. Doesn't TSMC just have small 5nm capacity so far, making it easier for Apple to secure most of it? We wouldn't want AMD to move to 5nm if they can have only 1/10 of the chips 7nm would make.
  9. They mention input-output, so I think charging-discharging in our terms. One of the comparisons has been for 60'C, which is close to what you'd get outside in summer without sun protection, being able to take such temps should make a big differenc for some applications. I wonder what's up with 2017 there, however, compared to other new battery technology, this one does seem to be on the way to big scale manufacturing already, they focus on small-sized in the doc, so it's not coming to laptops and the overall newness and patents surrounding this will mean high prices, but a 2 day battery life on airpods might become a thing thanks to this I think.

    Monitor choice

The exact model is important too, but in general I'd prefer the higher resolution. 144 to 240 is diminishing returns especially when you account for some games having problems to reach those framerates, but that's highly dependent on what you're going to run there.
  11. Let's look at it from this perspective: 1. It's a fairly recent thing 2. Fast NVME storage is getting bigger and more popular every year 3. As was mentioned above, Windows only started supporting it a year ago 4. Nvidia would have to work with Intel to make it work some of my thoughts: -It may very well be a case of AMD not supporting the feature, but not blocking it either on platforms other than 570(+ RX 6xxx and Zen3), then you add marketing and say it like it's unique to 570, while only them supporting it is -It made no sense to make it work on GCN/Vega when RDNA was coming, it isn't hard to think of some reason why it only appeared in RDNA2 too seeing how the firs iteration supposedly even had hardware bugs. -Seeing how Nvidia had to work with Intel(and AMD, if they didn't do it for RDNA) to make it happen and some rumors about them getting lenient, I think that assumption that they put a low priority on it which caused the delay on their part isn't too far fetched. Honestly, if it really is AMD pretending like it's impossible on older platforms to make the new ones sell more, I'd be quite annoyed, hopefully in a year both them and Nvidia will have a quite big base of supported hardware.
  12. Yeah, I pay for a dedicated server with gigabit connection, but that's .1% of users, normal people can't/won't do it.
  13. Limited by your home connection, forcing you to have the machine running 24/7. You can of course use some form of hosting too. In the end Photos app was very convenient, I copied the full files onto PC too, but sometimes accessing the cloud versions was nicer than walking to get the phone. That was a really nice feature and it's gone, rip.
  14. It's probably going to be really hard to compare, GB scores I think promote ARM processors a lot, we'll probably get Macs working great with some apps and horrendously slow with others. Honestly I am conflicted about it because ARM might be great for CPUs, but having Apple as the top option in any field is just terrible.
  15. Apple replacement stuff is often refurbished and sometimes not even working, the 'Geniuses' have a record of misidentifying what's wrong and making the customer pay for their mistakes. It is not the utopia they claim to be and the chance of getting a frankeniphone is actually high because the resell value makes it really profitable to play with things. Might also be the reason why they block more and more elements, imagine buying a used iphone 11 pro with a shitty replacement screen...
  16. I agree about the looks, but the temps and noise are much more important, I hope it's going to be a decent performer.
  17. There are diesels that do high rpm and gas engines which have high torque and low max rpm, the maps you attached in the previous post show a general idea, but there's more and more things like that: From my experiences with diesels, if anything, the zone where you get the full power is much shorter, what I mean is switching a bit too fast or too slow would make much bigger difference and flooring it in a high gear took even more time to accelerate than the gasoline ones. Anyways, around the time turbos in gasoline engines started getting popular is also when it stopped being easy to tell what kind of fuel the car is using, there will be a bigger difference between top of the line turbo gasoline engine and some old one with classical characteristics than with top of the line diesel.
  18. The lever in my grandpa's car is so loose, you can move it 20cm right and left when in gear, I've no idea how it is possible to still use it, but it's actually not a problem at all. The most basic features: -audio with aux -remote lock -a/c -cruise control Further than that I don't really care for other features, they're nice but not crucial.
  19. Sooner or later it's going to be there, when AMD cards arrive the demand will be split too. I am waiting for something that's probably even lower tier than that, makes me happy that they're starting to show up.
  20. isn't aio with radiator below the pump a bad idea? I was waiting for CPU stress test but it wasn't there.
  21. They should just modify the manual to include some creative content videos, that's the only thing RIAA was able to take issue with, which is laughable. Their site is still up, they're still in debian repo, pypi... I love the description "a command-line program to download videos from YouTube.com and a few more sites." few others: I'm surprised FloatPlane is not there yet.
  22. I wonder if that's possible, with FS being based on real photos not a limited amount of textures, the learning process might take nearly infinite resources in comparison to 'normal' games. I hope I'm wrong.
  23. Additionally is the key word and with it I agree wholeheartedly. IMO DLSS is single digit worse visually and def. a thing I'd want to have.
