    Confirmed: 300 units of backpacks.
    Dates: Before school starts.
Controlled attendance: They don't want 2,000 people showing up so they are announcing final date at the last minute. They do not want people to travel for these events. 😞 Linus reiterated "do not travel for this event".

Just finished watching WAN VOD. I know, I am late to the party. I can't help it I get up at 5am for work. Linus said he was going to have a pop up shop at the new labs building.  Luke said it would be cool to stream it on FP so people can see real reactions to the screwdrivers and backpacks. OMG I am so excited. I need more details. If I missed anything let me know. I did not hear a date?

    What we know so far:

Overnight LAN party No Parking at venue, must take public transport At New Labs Building Merch Steam Cache Activities Food Trucks Tournaments NO SOCIAL MEDIA (You will live without FB, Insta, Twitter, Reddit) Sponsor Booths 200 seats My Questions
Will you need volunteers? Will this be like LTX where tickets drop at x time and first come first serve? VIP Passes? Media passes? Please don't restrict to Canada only. Not exactly a question, but please. How much $$$ Age restricted?

Yeah, we would not expect people to take a chair on public transit. Since the LAN is 99% planned for a weekend there will probably be some street parking available for those who are able to drive or carpool, but we don't want to advertise this until we know exactly what will be available so we can be considerate of the other buildings that use street parking.

Right now, we're pretty sure none of the other businesses really operate on the weekends, so it could work out really well since the whole street has parking that runs down the whole street from the new building and past the current office, so fingers crossed that people could just use that without issue.

I don't have a lot to share at the moment, but we'll give out more details when we are ready. Just to avoid any confusion, the Pop-up Shop and LAN are going to happen on different dates since the LAN is a ticketed event.

Things I can answer right now:
Both events are more than likely to fall on the weekend. Tickets will probably have to be first come, first serve. As long as the border is open, you should be able to travel from the states. We'll expect people to bring:
Their own computer A monitor Any peripherals they want to use An ethernet cable (25ft is recommended) Not Necessary, but your own chair if you want something comfortable (and have the means to transport one lol)

@LinusTechHonestly I have a lot of respect for you and I've been watching LTT a long, long time

But I agree with this chain of quotes and I recommend you make an effort to send an apology for the poor girl just doing her job. I get it, it's stupid. I agree with the entire values that this video portrays. I get that you're frustrated but it was incredibly uncomfortable watching you be so rude and borderline abusive to someone who has no control over the situation. She didn't deserve that and I hope you refrain from behaviour like this in the future.

Zigbee and Z-Wave are basically competing standards although both are generally open ecosystems to some extent I believe Zigbee is much moreso but there are availability issues too. Someone in another thread commented how they couldn't get Z-Wave anything where they lived it was all Zigbee and I know for others it's the opposite so it might have been, for Linus, a combination of available switches and the protocol they came in that he liked at the time.

So many people fail to realize this isn't about flipping a switch in a room, it's about a few things, one is tinkering but two is having OTHER stuff work easier because of investing in part 1. Sure you're not going to "make your money back" on a large investment like this but being able to save on energy because you don't have to do other things like heat/cool areas of the home or not having to trudge up two flights of stairs because your kid forgot to turn off their light before leaving or any number of things happening automatically. Yes it's a tinkering desire first and foremost but beyond that I see so much blind hatred "to just flip a switch" it's baffling, why the hell do you care what someone else does to make aspects of their life different?

Agreed, abusing someone with no power and who didn't make that decision over the phone will not solve your issue. Be polite, they don't want to be in that situation either. Very cringeworthy.

It looked like this was somewhat early in the planning. Guess we'll find out more in future WAN Shows. I just hope they give us fair warning, would be gutted if I missed a chance at this due to it being announced on some random tweet...

Yeah. I don't feel like i've loved the women's selection, so far. I'd personally love some of the older designs or more LTT forward clothing in women's tank tops. LTT lounge or running running shorts would be really cool. I personally dislike the bra idea I've been seeing around. It really doesn't make sense to me.

I think we are talking about different things. I am talking about just asking the fans who wear women's clothing what they want. Get an idea of who we are and what we like. I know we are a minority, but we do exist. Linus has talked about this on WAN and knows there is a disconnect. He said even Yvonne didn't understand the direction the designers went with the first items. I would like to hear the opinions of other people who wear women's clothing.

Needed a 3rd line and went into Tmobile.  All the specials for free lines are new customers only.  They would have only given me the 4th line free... It would have took my bill to 170-180/mo.  I went ahead and did prepaid $15/mo on that but went home and ordered mint mobile to replace the two main lines.  That account will be closed before the next cycle.

True. I guess I was thinking that having chrome that couldn't be updated would make it not work. I have so many projects right now that I have to take care of first before I get a real laptop.  I will try the dual boot.

I suggest you do not remove the original operating system. Linux may have compatibility problems in the future and not work. At least with chrome os you can use your computer as a "typewriter". 😀

We'll announce anything official/important on the website or twitter account when the time comes, and Linus will probably leak some info early on the WAN show at some point anyways.

We definitely haven't gotten "too big" for LTX, if anything that just means we can hopefully make it a better experience when it does happen again!

If you're currently paying $17.50 for 2 lines ($35) plus $10 per 1GB of data (shared between the lines I'm guessing?), that's an absolute steal compared to what us Canuck's pay for a single line. 😄 Two lines with shared data are around (on average) $110-$130 CAD total up here.

Anywho, looking at Ting Mobile's plans do indicate a better overall deal compared to Google Fi, depending on whether you go with their $25 per line 5GB data plan ($50 total for 2 lines), or their $10 per line $5 per 1GB data flexible plan ($30-$40 total for 2 lines, depending on your data usage).

Ive been using mint mobile for 4 years, 360$/year per line for unlimited data, calls, texts (though data caps 4g lte at 35gb then slows per month)
If youre using such a small amount of data a month it gets even cheaper, they have a 4gb/month plan for 180$/year per line and offer family plans for multiple lines as well.
You spend less by pre-paying for long periods of time.

Theyre on T-Mobiles network, so if you have good T-Mobile coverage in your area theyre the most economical option from my experience.

I used to drive tractor-trailers coast-to-coast and I found Straight Talk to be very straightforward, reasonably priced and had good coverage as long as you used Verizon towers. Of course, there's no insurance if you break your phone, but replacing it is a lot cheaper in most cases, so there is that.
