  1. I have been looking for an activity for my 16 year old son to do to keep busy besides video games (gotta have balance) And decided on the local Jujitsu gym, while surfing youtube for a quick vid to show him i come across this and did a double take. Don't mess with linus folks he will choke your ass out! lol
  2. better PSU suggestion noted... my psu is on tier 3 on the list provided above. I cannot seem to find any specific examples of a PSU killing a GPU in the fashion mine have died in. Both deaths have been quite sudden. on the second dead card i had 1 error message and crash (i wish i had written down the code but it was a memory error of some sort, restarted and was fine for a day or 2). Both died mid game very sudden no warning, just total instant system shut down and dead and no post until that card was removed and replaced. No indication in any other way shape or form that i have any power issues what so ever, my temperatures were all totally in acceptable ranges
  3. I posted before after my second XFX rx 580 8 gb black died a week and a half after the first one had gotten replaced. I have been able to RMA them both with no problem at all and the 3rd card now will be here in a few days, its been shipped by XFX. They have been great as far as replacing them. Somebody had mentioned in my previous post it could be my PSU killing them. XFX online support mentioned that as well but when i asked what i can do to test it did not offer any feed back what so ever about it. (i wont go in to how it takes DAYS for a response from them, even simple responses) I bought a new rosewill 750w 80 gold plus back in october and have had zero issues with it or ANYTHING else plugged in to my pc with this PSU. The system seems to run perfect except the 580s that died with zero warning both times mid game then no post until i put my trusty old 1050 ti back in. Naturally now im a little nervous of the 3rd card when it comes. How do i test to see if it really is my PSU or just random bad luck? its not hard to find others that have had problems with this same card and i have seen at least one other instance of somebody also having 2 die in quick sucession. My 1050 ti does not have an 8pin its slot powered. I suppose i could offer up my sons 950 ti which does require a power supply as a sacrificial lamb so to speak but i cannot really afford to replace it as well if thats really whats making the 580s die.... is there any alternatives? If it really is my PSU why is it not killing anything else or showing any signs at all in anyway i can find? Hopefully 3rd time is a charm because id rather not shell out 350 for a new psu and a 1660 ti because if this one dies too im going to have to try that solution and back to nvidia
  4. my flat screen i am using does 1080 120 hz but ya eventually i need a better monitor...once i get this situation dealt with i promised my teenager a shiny new xbox one x (ive tried to bring him to the master race but all his buddies are console) lol so will have to come later
  5. LOL i am thinking about pinching my pennies until i can get a 1070 and never looking back...first team red card I have EVER bought and its leaving a bad taste in my mouth for sure
  6. temps seem to be fine i was keeping a eye on them the first time and didnt notice anything out of the ordinary and when the second one came i was really watching and even upped the fan curve slightly from the stock one JUST IN CASE....zero issues with with power or temps that i could tell either time
  7. in December I decided to upgrade and grabbed the xfx rx 580 8 gb black edition. sweet price and an upgrade over my 1050. after a couple of days poof...dead mid game (destiny 2), pc wouldnt post nothing....dead. So i RMA and in the mean time before i received the replacement i upgraded the mobo to the rog strix b450-f and a ryzen 5 2600 (gpu was bottlenecking a bit with my old rig before it died) Got all that up and running zero problems with the trusty old 1050 ti, the replacement rx 580 shows up, installed it...ran like a champ for a week and a half and once again mid game (skyrim) poof....DEAD same as before, no power no post no nothing (with the newer mobo/cpu). It doesnt take much digging to find other people with issues with this card but with all the decent reviews and generally good things for this card i have seen I figured that as with anything there is bound to be SOME issues out there and even me getting one that dies shortly is statistically bound to happen, send it back get a replacement ok fine what ever move on....but 2 IN A ROW? Is this a much more common theme with these cards or did i get the random crap end of the stick twice? EDIT: i have my old 1050 ti back in its place now and it runs like a champ with zero issues just as it should
