So, LMG content is rushed, inaccurate and focus more on being "funny" rather than accurate?

I guess there's no news here lol

Fully expect them to lose a huge chunk of their revenue once the creators move to a different platform, bringing their users with them. Just like how Tumblr fell from graces, from being sold for 1.1 billion in 2013, new owners implement an adult content ban and then sell in 2019 for less than 3 million after they lost more than 30% of their userbase.

No issues will arise because that's not what a defective chip means. It's not the wild west and they will turn off the defective portions. It's what all of Intels lineup is. An i5 is a defective i7 which is now a i9 and so on. But now since we are seeing chiplet designs yields are high enough that they don't need to do this anymore.

Id work with your boss here, see what settings are set and needed so you don't break things.

Also you really don't want to be using the ISP modem here, there just not great when it comes to management, security, reliability, and ui.

Also might not be the isp modem here this is a pretty easy load most cheap routres can do just fine, but its the easiest part to test.

Probably the router, and thats the easiest to replace and check.

Everyone uses bits for network speeds, so using bytes is confusing. Bits are used as bits get copied over the line, not bytes, and there are cases where its not 8 bits in a byte.

Yea if there modem/router sucks, you need your own.

Im kinda a sucker for untangle, but pfsense will work fine here.

Also please use bits/s for internet speeds, basically no one uses bytes/s for internet speeds, so its confusing.

What are you upload speeds, that might be your limit here.

Đỗ Đức Huy reacted to Delicieuxz in In an NYT investigative report Apple has essentially given up the keys to its kingdom in China.
The EU and Russia already have rules restricting their citizens' data from being sent outside their borders. And US laws don't apply in countries that aren't the US.

When operating in another country, a company has to follow that country's laws. Apple wouldn't get a say in whether they abide by what the Chinese government requires: They either conform to the local law where they're doing business, or they get kicked-out of the country (and likely have their in-country assets seized). They don't have any power to defy a foreign government regarding how they may operate in their country, just as Apple doesn't to defy the US government concerning Apple's business operations in the US.

Most PC case made out of steel is not galvanized, they depends on the paint for rust protection. You can strip the original paint, lightly sand the steel, apply primer and paint the raw steel as much as you wish

Welp they finally did it, they killed any chance for gamer to get any kind of GPUs anytime soon. Welcome to the straight out of China dual Xeon LGA 2011 mining motherboard. With this board and the "accidentally leaked" driver from Nvidia that unlock the 3060 mining potential as long as it is plugged into a PCIe 3.0 8x slot and have a dummy HDMI plug plugged in, this spells the end for the 3060 and even RX series with 4GB of vram (the RX 4GB card can mine at full speed when connected to a PCIe 3.0 8x interface)
    The motherboard in question:

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. Those are dual LGA 2011 socket motherboard with 8(!) PCIe gen 3 by 8 slots specifically for mining purposes. Well at least after the mining boom is over this board will be a very very good GPU AI trainer since it will be running xeons with full bandwidth to the GPUs. I just got this tip off from my supplier in Vietnam, will update as I get more information on it.

Didn't Windows 10 teach anybody anything?

The amount of telemetry being sent means nothing, what's important is what data the telemetry being sent actually contains..I remember a few years back when someone discovered Windows 10 connected back to MS 1000s of times per day, it was what started the whole "Windows 10 is spyware" movement, then some people who actually knew what they were doing took a look and discovered that 99% of the traffic was totally benign and was for things like time & date checking, update checking, settings retrieval from MS servers etc etc. Of course by that point the damage was done and none of the conspiracy theorists bothered to read the results from the experts so Windows 10 still has that reputation to this day despite MS having a website which tells you EXACTLY what they collect and for what purpose.

Just because an app is talking to a server often doesn't automatically mean its harvesting your data.

Đỗ Đức Huy got a reaction from makarioz in As if millions of gamers suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced
Yes, but they usually utilize chipset PCIe lane at 1x speed, which doesn't meet the requirement for mining on 4GB RX card at this time and RTX 3060. Both need PCIe 8x to run at full speed. Also with this much PCIe bandwidth, the board will have more useful life as low cost server motherboard if you want all the PCIe connection you will ever need. This board is newly made to deal with the needs of the market right now.

It's only superior if it fits your exact needs/work flow. Otherwise, it's irrelevant. Is it a step forward for faster tech? Totally. But not everyone needs an M-series Mac. Some people only need a machine that lets them browse the web, other need Quadro's paired with Threadripper's for extreme workloads. It's not one size fits all.

The 10-12 years ahead thing is complete speculation. The M1 is merely comparable to the x86 competition. But it is true that Apple isn't selling the M1 to mass market outside of the products that contain it.

Đỗ Đức Huy reacted to Suika in rtx 3080 crashing possibly due to capacitor choice
Oh, see, I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum and I firmly believe a majority of this is NVIDIA's fault.

    1) All board partner designs have to be approved by NVIDIA, so while Zotac, EVGA, or Palit could submit a shit design, if it gets through, then surely NVIDIA thought it was fine.
    2) NVIDIA gave board partners very little time to test boards.
    3) The time board partners did have to test boards, the majority of it was without drivers to actually run games or actual loads on, so partners could have been binning improper chips too.
    4) Not making the reference design a bit more strict, like a 1+5 config should have been the bare minimum with 2+4 being recommended. ASUS just went overkill by the looks of it.

Some partners managed to do better than others but it definitely sounds like NVIDIA holds most of the fault, board partners just won't admit it because they don't want NVIDIA to wack them in the face with their massive dingly.
