ckinfos got a reaction from FinOxy in GIGABYTE Gaming rx5700XT OC Water Cooling
....i have searched and inquired almost 10 companies with water blocks....they all refer mostly to reference card designs by other manufacturers like gigabyte or asus. they seem to have no solution for a custom card like mine and many others too...
BTW those you refer too...they dont provide one! thank you anyway.

ckinfos got a reaction from sub68 in Is leaving the cable of a laptop charger connected to the plug all the time bad?
it will immediately charge the battery. That said propably lessen the batteries life. it will charge and discharge the same cells making the battery losing faster its usage time. i am always removing the battery if i have to keep my laptop in use for more than a day on an use the power cord.

ckinfos got a reaction from Lipous Electus in U$700~800 Upgrade. Help me not waste money!
if you need a medium card for casual gaming then you can try to find some older generation cards like amd radeon 5500xt, or even amd rx 580,590.
For cpu i think you can get an amd 3100 up to amd 3600. And motherboard with a b450 or b550. Ram 16gb at Least.
Although it's old gpu generation and the old chipset that does not mean thye are bad. they will do their job until you can afford to buy a better configuration or your needs change. Prices will be falling by then...Hope so...

ckinfos got a reaction from Chris Ando in 3900x paired with b450 MOBO
...so you need to decide...you want a ferrari engine in a fiat....or in a ferrari! and what i mean by that. You buy a good cpu ...want to oc...in a mobo chipset of the previous generation. I would say go for b550 that has better thermals on vrms. the difference is 20 bucks that seems to not matter that much to you if you go for a 3900x.
OR else stay in b450 without oc.

ckinfos got a reaction from Moonzy in GPU mounting
your case is screwless. you need to aligh the gpu in place with the small holes that pull out. and then press a bit. then put the long frame that covers the holes on it and screw that one. otherwise...i am prety sure the case has....a manual!

it would be wise to try and find some spare parts that a friend may have and test 1 by 1. then go buy. you may end up paying more money than you should.

ckinfos got a reaction from DAWWolfX in To Antivirus or Not To Antivirus
Antivirus is a need. Firewall is a need. And why? Because how many times - any user - has clicked an ad by mistake because the page moved the contents while clicking the desired link. Who does not use online banking and payments.
True, windows defender is good and propably the new firewall....but every hacker is hacking windows 1st then the 3rd companies antiviruses...And while you are nowadays playing in a WAN internet scheme you need to have all the protection you can get. Some people want to control kids times and sites too with them.
Everytime you open your pc nowadays...unless you dont have internet access at alll...you are at risk. Even putting a usbflash from school to your pc or from another friend you risk the "flue"!
You dont have to buy one, you can install a free version. BUT you need to have one.

ckinfos reacted to MadmanRB in Advice on If my is CPU good enough for new GPU and what Monitor to get?
Your setup probably can take 1440P but I would actually more pair your processor with a RTX 2070 super at max.
As you will be dealing with possible CPU bottlenecks best not go crazy.
The 2080TI might leave your processor in the dust.
I say go for a 2070 super this way you can have spare change just in case your system needs a new processor/motherboard/memory.
the 2080Ti is pretty expensive after all and it does seem silly to pair it with a 5820k
I mean the 5820k is still a good processor and all but there is always potential for bottlenecks

I am going to chime in and say 144Hz is more then enough for most gamers.
Only if you intend to be a pro esports gamer should you get anything higher than 144hz.
Otherwise, 144hz is fine.

I wouldnt trust any used electronic anyway. Especially cpus and gpus...as i wouldnt know how far were pushed from the owner. 250$ is considered too much for me....even if the price of the cpu is 1000$....
-
ckinfos got a reaction from Herman Mcpootis in Help with resale value
i would bet the mobo noone would bought it for more than 30$.
The cpu around 100$.
The ram is your best bet so you could ask for 60$-70$
the card?....around 40$ and i wouldnt bother selling it anyway.

ckinfos got a reaction from Monkey Dust in Microsoft hides option to use Windows 10 with a local account - GDPR violation?
The problem is that although there is the MacOS and linux alternatives, MS is dominating a long time the market and brands stick with it too. The problem is not MS spying activities or disabling some of their options.
The problem is that :
1. Macs are too expensive so alot of people cant buy them so they cant use the MacOS (which it has its flaws too)
2. Linux have so many branches and have YET a non-terminal everyday usage for many tasks (that means the user HAS to do everyday tasks the hard way, even install programs)
3. Game companies dont like LINUX...ING! Even though Steam, Google, lutris and so is trying to change that but still due to the fact 2 there are unpassable problems.
So i think we have to live with what the monopoly....goes us too.

ckinfos got a reaction from TechyBen in Microsoft hides option to use Windows 10 with a local account - GDPR violation?
i have ubuntu and manjaro....please can you tell me how to install skype/teamviewer from the repos? and with that i mean...in windows you download and install. In linux...you do ...1 or more extra steps.
A lot of Universities also push the MS OS and tools so it is very difficult for not to follow that stream.
Unless a Big company interfere (like google with android) in linux development as in the past years with Unix and Novell the windows will always dominate.
They had removed the start menu...but we are all happy with the new one and we tolerate it. they are pushing updates without beeing able to deny them we tolerate, they made this with the logon we tolerate, years they had IE in the OS messing things we tolerated.
Things in a circle for me ....discussing them is just for the discussion IMO and only.

ckinfos got a reaction from boey in Possible AMD Build 2019/2020 - What should I change?
1. i think an Amd ryzen 5 3600 would fit and it is not too expensive and it is newer (3rd amd gen) cpu.
2. I wouldnt trust msi evoke too due to the thermal solutions. gigabyte is cheaper and better at that or anything else except xfx.
Unless you cant find anything else for gpu other than msis's...and propably you find them because they dont choose them for the reason said.
3. The case is too expensive although a good one. But there are other mid cases cheaper and doing the same job. It is offcourse completely upto your taste for that.

The PRO's aren't the ones who do that. This board has a corps of wannabe PSU experts who are very vocal, but not particularly skilled. They are the usual suspects.
