  1. Hey everyone. So, I'm gonna try my best to keep it on the rails here, but I'm infuriated with Google's lack of support on this issue, and want to share/plead for help in the event someone might have tips. TL;DR: I opted into the Android Beta 13 program on my daily driver, my Google Pixel 6 Pro, apps I need for my job as a network admin didn't work, so I rolled back. After getting Android 12 back (from an OTA update) the device is stuck in the bootloader, unable to even go into recovery, and Google Support won't help because there is a faint scratch on the screen from where my keys brushed against my phone once. So, the TL;DR includes a lot, but to fill out more info: - I'm a first-time network admin, and a lot of my accounts use MFA that was on the Google Authenticator instance on my Pixel 6 Pro. Absolutely stupid of me, I know, to use a daily driver as a Beta device, but I wanted to do what I could to aid the devs in gathering info to sooner roll out 13. I still think that opting to roll back to 12 shouldn't brick my device, and I'm wondering if it falls under the terms and conditions of joining the 13 beta program if I had opted out and was trying to roll back through the Google-approved facet. - I've dabbled in Android ROM and Kernel development in the past, most prominently in the 5.0-6.0 days. I know my way around fastboot, advb, and recovery. This device isn't even recognized as fastboot, recovery, or adb with the enhanced Google ADB drivers. - I have a log of the support chat, but I essentially was told the device couldn't be warrantied due to the light scratch on the screen. Even though that would have ZERO to do with how the operating system functions. It felt like what I was saying was more than what their script was equipped to handle. Any thoughts? Any advice? Also, pease feel free to absolutely flame me for the dumb decision. - ArticularSpark
  2. I got the notification tonight that Linus was live on YouTube tonight, and I actually had some time to tune in for once. My post here is just me adding in a message of support for Linus, in light of some of the things he discussed in the stream. I realize he did include at the end that it isn't a cry for help, or him exclaiming he's knocked down and out. Nonetheless, I still wanted to share this. The stream was all of 28 minutes or so long, and there were a lot of things covered that I noticed many people in the chat were concerned about. Now, looking past the trolls spamming "F" and the people doing anything to gain attention for themselves, which were in no short supply, the chat was supportive and many people were donating for the sole reason that Linus was streaming. Anyway, a couple things stuck with me that I'll likely not forget, the most prominent of which was the story Linus shared of the Make-a-Wish Foundation reaching out to him about a sick child, who's wish was to meet Linus. I suppose for the sake of being as brief as possible, I'll only talk about this for the rest of the post. The short version is that the child's condition worsened, and the plans they were originally coming up with had to be cancelled due to a rapidly-worsening condition. Linus told us he was asked to record a personal video for them. Linus agreed, and likened it to the fact he records videos every day, and thought he would handle it alright. His words to us were that he pulled his phone out, went to record and... He froze, as he couldn't think of anything to say. He went on to talk to us about how it weighed on him heavily at that moment, particularly after reading through the guidelines sent to him for the video. He then cried, and tried to express how painful it was to try and put together something for a 12-year-old who was terminally ill, and... Well, a lot of us, myself at that time included, were really concerned and sympathetic. Once again, to be brief, I'll try to shorten my recap, and get on with what I really wanted to say with the post. I may speak for myself here, but I'm positive countless others will agree that no one on this planet should go through that. Millions of us love and support you and everything you do, and your expression of your thoughts tonight make us think no less of you. I speculate that my words here may come across as pointless validation, but it is the truth. You've helped us learn, entertained us, and in some cases, you've given us something that has been life-changing. I wouldn't have my job today with Best Buy without you, NCIX, or every member of Linus Media Group. With your videos you've brightened the minds of people for more than a decade, and more people are still arriving to your channel today. We're all grateful for you. No matter what you decide to do, or where you decide to go, you'll always have our support. I really should be off to bed now, but I may add on in the morning if any other thoughts arise over the course of tonight. I wish you the best, Austin
  3. I'm brand new, pretty much fresh out of high school, no sort of documented work experience that would be of relevance to the skills they're looking for. Then again, I suppose just about anyone can claim they have experience anywhere, so my chances are virtually zero. Also, thank you for the clarification on the legalities, that was the most confusing part for me!
  4. Ah, thank you so much! I wasn't sure if this was where I needed to start, or if there was some other prerequisites.
  5. Hello, everyone! Though I've been subscribed to LTT since... Well, young me discovered the wonders of the internet, I am a brand new member of the forums. So, apologies in advance if this is in the wrong forum, and also if it's violating any of the rules of Off Topic. There was a video posted a little while ago on the main channel about hiring, and needless to say I'm interested. All things considered, it would be a bit of a stretch to believe LMG would hire a relatively inexperienced young adult, but I have quite a bit of history in sets and being a sound technician. This coupled with my passion for tech led me to click the link and begin the form... And I immediately was halted by a question. So, I came here hoping for some advice. How would I determine if I'm eligible to work in Canada, as I currently live in the south-west United States? Relocating wouldn't be an issue, as far as I can foresee, so this is really the only thing hindering me. Any advice or help is appreciated, and I thank you in advance! -ArticularSpark
